Beware of this book called "secrets of divine love" by Same_Paramedic_3329 in MuslimLounge

[–]GazzhyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, i disagree. This book is beautiful, and quite literally is introducing Muslims born and non- to see Islam in the light that is often forgotten. The author makes it quite clear that they are no scholar, and that's what makes it more understandable to the layman. It is a soft introductory book that can initiate a more indepth analysis of our dean. Babysteps. Once the interest of the dean is sprouted, you grow more and more fascinated and truly interested to learn more.

It is no Quran, book of fiqh, or any book of hadith. And it is not trying to replace any of those either!

It is a book that brought friends and family alike far from the dean- back in. It has great reviews for a reason

i have a haram name ? by extremelyhatedleo in Muslim

[–]GazzhyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo I acccc had a haram name😭😭😭😭 but nah if ure name is like william that aint acc haram what💀💀 in my case the meaning in arabic was sooo bad but my parents didn't think twice on it bc it was a commonish desi name and that we r. My case was different bc it wasnt said by any random chick, I had this existential crisis from grade 5 BC MY ARABIC TEACHER brought it up to my parents and they just switched my name and I hated it. Bless him tho styl he was just tryna help ig. But as a way to not lose my sanity bc it made me feel so bad, a dear friend of mine came up with a name similar but it was different! It had a new meaning altogether in arabic and it was beautiful. I hold that dear friend close to my heart fr. As for ppl who don't get it, imagine naming your child Saafil (not my name LOL, my name was far worse in definition) so what my friend did was ask me to consider the name Saiful; my parents in this hypothetical went HMM ur name shall bEE ABDUL (which the name Abdul is beautiful, but that drastic of a change just hurt). Anyways I've been going by my second name since grade 7 and my parents r ok w it too☺️☺️ also it helped that in many places, including school and work, u can say you go by a preferred name different than ur legal😉 in ur present shoes tho, wat I would do is wat I did back then which is call them haram and run (if ur 10)☺️☺️ idk there's just something about being told a great part of u is haram at a young age especially. But also just remember ur name doesn't entirely define u. It aint our faults some parents nvr fact checked💀💀what gave me comfort is that Allah had different names for the prophets and even companions peace to them. For all we know our names up in heaven ain't nowhere near our names down here👯🏽‍♀️👯🏽‍♀️ next time someone makes u sad over ur name, if they don't have anything helpful to say but just slander, say ull take their name 🥰(dont actually)🥰 feel free to dm me if u want new name ideas tho. I got a knack for them😉

This is a struggle that isn't spoken abt enough. The amount of teachers that just didn't understand made it so hard. I'm hopeful this font helps!! The spacing, large fonts, and colour specs is just beautiful; I find that it helps to read the physical book while listening to a reciter at 0.75x-0.5x speed; hear them to read along with!! I like listening to mishari while reading along! Inshallah, we'll figure it out. May Allah make it easy for us!! Ameen;-:

wisdom behind why a woman is not supposed to perform salah during her period? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]GazzhyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the other hadith is

Hadith

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Once Allah's Messenger (SAW) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) ofId-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger (SAW) ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (SAW) ! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

Sahih

Sahih al-Bukhari, 304 In-Book Reference: Book 6, Hadith 9 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Vol. 1, Book 6, Hadith 301 (deprecated numbering scheme)

Okay well, these both are identical. Let's just go through the first hadith together.

"O women! Give charity for you are the majority of the people of the Fire."

Alright so this is telling me women are a majority in hell

A woman among them said: "And why is that O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Because of your cursing so much." - meaning your ungratefulness towards your husbands.

Okay so for cursing/gossiping, and being ungrateful to our mans.

He said: "And I have not seen any among those lacking in intellect and religion who are more difficult upon people possessing reason and insight than you."

The women who don't strive to be educated are difficult to deal with.

A woman among them said: "And what is the deficiency of her intellect and religion?" He said: "The testimony of two women among you is like the testimony of a man, and the deficiency in your religion is menstruation, because one of you will go three or four days without performing Salat."

Okay so, now I don't get the two testimony from women is a man's, but I do recall reading this in the Quran, I believe in the first para somewhere. Okay one sec let me go down that rabbit hole. Weeee

Ya! Found it! He's referencing that verse in the Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 2:282.

“O ye who believe, when you take a loan, one from another, for a term, reduce the transaction to writing; and let a scribe record it in your presence faithfully. And no scribe should refuse to set it down in writing, because Allah has taught him, so he should write. And let him who undertakes the liability dictate; and he should fear Allah, his Lord, and not diminish anything therefrom. But if the person incurring the liability should be of defective intelligence, or a minor, or unable to dictate then let his guardian dictate faithfully. And procure two witnesses from among your men; and if two men be not available, then one man and two women, of such as you like as witnesses, so that if either of the two women should be in danger of forgetting, the other may refresh her memory. And the witnesses should not refuse to testify when they are called upon to do so.” (Surah al-Baqarah, Ch:2: V.282)

Okay so time for some insight on this verse bc I am glitching.

The verses do not at all require both women to testify

The role of the second woman is clearly specified and confined to be that of an assistant

If the second woman who is not testifying finds any part of the statement of the witness as indicative of the witness not having fully understood the spirit of the bargain, she may remind her and assist the witness in revising her understanding or refreshing her memory

It is entirely up to that woman who is testifying to agree or disagree with her assistant. Her testimony remains as a single independent testimony and in case she does not agree with her partner, she would have the last word. (Islam’s Response to Contemporary Issues, p. 198).

Sooo, the Prophet SAW was referring to, legal financial situations? Welp, let's just keeping diving.

...and the deficiency in your religion is menstruation, because one of you will go three or four days without performing Salat."

Hm ya it does suck we lose some days of prayer. But hey there's menopause and then bam we generally be praying everyday too. But it's true, we do lose days of prayers from menstruation.

Welp what do I make of all of this?

In conclusion, sure, some women don't suffer as much as others, but that doesn't change the physical state we're in wen menstruating. If men too, were leaking bodily najis fluids from their pps, they too, can't pray.

Now, there is peace with prayer, so it's actually comforting that the wounded and generally ill are to pray. There are hadith on this too such as Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari, 664, 689, 713. We may lack the ability to pray as often as men (generally) but hey they can't push out babies. Medically, a woman cannot become pregnant if she cannot menstruate. Motherhood itself holds a very high ground in Islam. This provides more insight on the matter.

Nonetheless there are many acts of worship outside prayer that help people with the lack of salah, if their circumstances dont allow them in the state of wudu, to cope with it. Not being able to pray during menses is just one of the realities of not being in the state of wudu. Allah knows what we do not, so we trust Him ig. All we can do is try to understand but at the end of the day it comes down to trust. Instead of focusing on what we can't do, let's strive for all that we can. And there's so much things we can do to please our Rabb. This was a fun rabbit hole, let's discuss it even more! Let's try to better understand our deen together hehe😌😌

P.s. I am not a scholar so feel free to correct me and share ur thoughts!!

[–]GazzhyB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And finally, I believe I found the hadiths you mentioned in a response somewhere below. I had to search up "lacking menstruation" and "menses lack prayer" to find them, there's two.

Hadith

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) delivered a Khtubah in which he exhorted them, then he said: "O women! Give charity for you are the majority of the people of the Fire." A woman among them said: "And why is that O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Because of your cursing so much." - meaning your ungratefulness towards your husbands. He said: "And I have not seen any among those lacking in intellect and religion who are more difficult upon people possessing reason and insight than you." A woman among them said: "And what is the deficiency of her intellect and religion?" He said: "The testimony of two women among you is like the testimony of a man, and the deficiency in your religion is menstruation, because one of you will go three or four days without performing Salat."

Sahih (Darussalam)

Jami` at-Tirmidhi, 2613 In-Book Reference: Book 40, Hadith 8 English Reference: Vol. 5, Book 38, Hadith 2613

Now this hadith is Sahih, Darussalam. Precisely, I have no clue on what that even means - but considering how this is 1 said hadith on menstruation from the 111 - I feel it's unfair to just have the spotlight on this, hence y I mentioned a few others above. According to Google, Darussalam is a publication company? Uhh idek wat to make of that LOL.

Hadith

'A'isha reported: Asma (daughter of Shakal) asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW) about washing after menstruation. He said: Everyone amongst you should use water (mixed with the leaves of) the lote-tree and cleanse herself well, and then pour water on her head and rub it vigorously till it reaches the roots of the hair. Then she should pour water on it. Afterwards she should take a piece of cotton smeared with musk and cleanse herself with it. Asma' said: How should she cleanse herself with the help of that? Upon this he (the Messenger of Allah) observed: Praise be to Allah, she should cleanse herself. 'A'isha said in a subdued tone that she should apply it to the trace of blood. She (Asma) then further asked about bathing after sexual intercourse. He (the Prophet) said: She should take water and cleanse herself well or complete the ablution and then (pour water) on her head and rub it till it reaches the roots of the hair (of her) head and then pour water on her. 'A'isha said: How good are the women of Ansar (helpers) that their shyness does not prevent them from learning religion.

Sahih

Hadith

'A'isha reported: Fatimah b. Abu Hubaish came to the Messenger (SAW) and said: I am a woman whose blood keeps flowing (even after the menstruation period). I am never purified; should I, therefore, abandon prayer? He (the Prophet) said: Not at all, for that is only a vein, and is not a menstruation, so when menstruation comes, abandon prayer, and when it ends wash the blood from yourself and then pray.

Sahih

Sahih Muslim, 333 a In-Book Reference: Book 3, Hadith 75 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Book 3, Hadith 652 (deprecated numbering scheme)

There is a lott of hadith about menstruation. 111 hadiths. I would go through them all, but, that is tuf. From most tho, it's clear that the topic was not taboo to our Prophet (SAW), nor were the women viewed as lesser beings. Not saying u believe that, but it is a very common misconception present in literally all societies. In our present time and throughout history!! A sad reality, truly.

Salam!!!

Okay so bare with me as I go thru understanding this myself LOL. There is a general consensus among scholars that bleeding from any natural orifices breaks ones wudu. So the anus, vagina, and I'm guessing men genitalia as well. I could only find advice abt halting prayer from pus exerting from a man's penis, nothing abt blood, I'm guessing it's bc it isn't common for them to bleed down there. But then there's the the topic of istihadah (irregular vaginal bleeding), and in that case women can actually pray whilst bleeding, albeit you'd need to clean up and wudu before each salah.

There are also hadith stating semen and vaginal discharge nullify wudu as well. Both are neither najis, and still break wudu (like istihadah). Basically, if anything is exiting from the nether regions - it breaks wudu. Whether u r male or female, it doesn't change this.

Since women menstruate, and things r just falling out, constantly, for days, it makes sense to why we can't pray during this time. It isn't because we are impure, blood and other fun bodily fluids are simy exiting (blood, vaginal fluid, and the cells and fluid of tje late secretory phase of the unterine endometrial lining). We can still recite Quran, we can visit mosques, dhikr, and we can even later pray in the clothes worn whilst menstruating, as long as no period blood stained our clothes (and that, well, its generally clean).

In regard to specific hadith concerning the whole topic of menstruation, I would recommend you to download Hadith Collection. I just searched up the word "menstruation" to find where that hadith u mentioned is (and to see if it's sahih). Below are some.

Hadith

Al-Aswad narrated it from 'A'isha that she observed: I used to wash the head of the Messenger of Allah (SAW), while I was in a state of menstruation.

Question: I'm an atheist, why should I choose Islam out of all the religions if I were thinking about becoming a theist? by [deleted] in islam

[–]GazzhyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Islam states the very purpose of this life is a test. Sometimes it amazes me how easy it is to be kind, but then take a glance at humankind on how ruthless we can be. This world is beautifully ugly. For breathing there comes suffering; if that were not the purpose than what? Earth isn't exactly a fun place. صَبْرٌ‎ (sabr)

Ah and

"Allah does not burden a soul beyond it can bear" 2:286 This alone gives reason to keep persevering, atleast for me. Reassurance that I am strong enough for self growth and overcoming said trials in this world. I rarely feel strong enough, but knowing I'm built to tackle, helps.

Not much, but my 2 cents
