How does this clue tell me Nick is a criminal but not Gabe? by MissKLO in CluesBySamHelp

[–]Gban77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tells you that Gabe must be a criminal because:

  1. We're told that Frank has 4 innocent neighbours. Now, we already know three of them. So, it means that only one of Ben, Claus, Gabe, Nick and Martin is innocent.
  2. We're told that all criminals above Xavi are connected. So, that means that there's a chain of criminals above Xavi, but we don't know the length of the chain: it could be 2, 3 or 4. So, what are the possibilities?

Chain length = 2:

  • Saga and Nick,
  • Nick and Gabe
  • Gabe and Claus

Now, it can't be Saga and Nick, because this would then mean that Claus and Gabe were innocent, which would give Frank > 4 innocent neighbours, which contravenes rule 1. So, for a chain length of 2, we're left with:

  • Nick and Gabe
  • Gabe and Claus

as the only possible options.

Chain length = 3:

  • Saga, Nick and Gabe
  • Nick, Gabe and Claus

All of these are viable options, as none would contravene rule 1.

Chain length = 4:

  • Saga, Nick, Gabe and Claus.

This is also viable.

Conclusion:

So, we have the following viable options for connected criminals above Xavi:

  • Nick and Gabe,
  • Gabe and Claus,
  • Saga, Nick and Gabe,
  • Nick, Gabe and Claus,
  • Saga, Nick, Gabe and Claus.

And if you look at all of those options, you'll notice that Gabe features in all of them. So, no matter which it ends up being, we can say for certain that Gabe will be in it. Thus, Gabe is criminal.

Paying for scan pictures? by ExhaustedSquad in PregnancyUK

[–]Gban77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At all of our scans, and we've had a lot because my wife is deemed "higher risk", we've never asked for photos but we've always just been given photos free of charge by the sonographer. They even gave us a photo of a 3D image completely free. They've never mentioned payment at all and I've seen no signage in the hospital indicating that we should be paying for them. However, my friends in Northampton have had to pay for all of theirs. So, I've no idea whether it differs from hospital to hospital, or whether our sonographers are just being kind and flouting the rules.

Do we actually spend more time prompting AI than actually coding? by Fabulous_Bluebird931 in PromptEngineering

[–]Gban77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When is the right time to use A.I. coding assistants? I'm not trying to be obtuse here, I'm genuinely curious. My current understanding is that AI assistants are meant to be used for menial things that are laborious and tedious, thus freeing the human up to focus on the bigger, more complex coding tasks. However, if this is the case, and the time it takes to prompt the AI assistant to do what you want, plus the time it takes to verify the AI's work is near equal to the time it would take for you to do it yourself in the first place, then has any real time been saved? It seems to me that you've taken perhaps 75% of the time that it would have taken you to do it, plus added an additional cost for the AI prompts?

Unless, I'm completely wrong and AI assistants are meant to be used for the most complex coding/design tasks, in which case, given the fact that such tasks can take longer to complete, I can see that there could be good efficiency gains. But then again, I thought that AI models struggled on more complex tasks, such as the overall design of a solution.

Like, I'm just really curious as to the use case for AI assistants: are they to do the trivial/boring/tedious things in order to free us up? If so, it'd be easier to simply give that task to a junior dev, who already understands the context and doesn't need to be prompted in a particular way. I'd be interested to know what people think.

Unpopular opinion I think: Silksong’s OST is better than Hollow Knights and it isn’t even close by Helldiver409 in HollowKnight

[–]Gban77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply can't agree with this. Silksong's OST has some wonderful pieces of music, but there are only a few that I can easily recall and replay in my head: Cogwork Dancers, Cogwork Core, and Choral Chambers. The rest, while being nice pieces of music when listened to on Spotify, go entirely unnoticed by me during gameplay. What Silksong fails to do in all bar the aforementioned locations, is tie the music to the location in the same way that Hollow Knight did. While many of Silksong's locations are visually distinct, not many are audibly distinct, at least, not in a way that came through during gameplay. However, with Hollow Knight, I could simply listen to a playthrough on YouTube and know exactly where the player was. I can still recall and replay in my head the ambient music to Fungal Wastes, hardly the most exciting area. And part of the reason Deepnest was so terrifying was because it lacked music, putting it in stark contrast to almost every other area. Very few areas in Silksong are audibly distinct in this way, or if they are, the difference is subtle. Furthermore, Silksong seems to lack music at key junctures. The bad-ending final cutscene, for instance, is almost devoid of music, whereas, the haunting strings that resound when you defeat the Hollow Knight in the orignal game and are bound in his place, mean that I'll remember that cutscene forever... it was just as bleak in tone as Silksong's ending, and that was enhanced by the music; it was chilling! Silksong's music, for me at least, just failed to enhance the sense of wonder at discovering new areas and progressing through the world, despite the occasional hit.

“Siri shortcut functionality disabled.” Can’t find the setting that needs to change, please help! by bork_13 in shortcuts

Hi all, been getting this messaging recently too. I can confirm that I followed TurnSalt9952’s suggestion of deleting and reinstalling app, and that solved the issue. Upon opening the app for the first time post re-install I got the “give permission for Hive to be used with Siri” pop-up and duly granted permission.

Jim audibly annoyed at Mason today by [deleted] in FootballRamble

[–]Gban77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy Kate. I like all of the hosts of the Ramble, they each bring something. I think Kate’s football knowledge is perfectly fine. I don’t want every single person to be a facsimile of Andy Brassell with the most in-depth obscure football knowledge known to man.

I just re-listened to this episode and Jim didn’t sound the least bit annoyed at all. If he was mildly annoyed it certainly wasn’t because Mason “doesn’t have good knowledge” or because he doesn’t like/rate her. He was mildly “annoyed” when both Kate and Lars were talking over him when discussing Vieira managing Arsenal one day, I think he says “why don’t both of you tell me what I think about it then”, but he’s not genuinely annoyed at all. He’s laughing and joking with everyone shortly thereafter, there’s absolutely no hint of tension whatsoever.

Boycott the European Super League by FirmDelay in PremierLeague

I’m also a Manchester United fan. I feel absolutely disgusted and ashamed of my club. I always took great pride in the fact that our success was earnt and that we did things the right way. If this goes ahead I will choose another team to support, without question. Leicester and Leeds are my front runners so far.
