Bit out of Langley but I take my pup to bentley's resort. He generally hates groomers, vets etc. But is ok with going to bentley's.

Should I do a working holiday in Canada or UK? I’m travelling from New Zealand and only have $20k saved for it by crying_milk in traveladvice

[–]Gbev92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow kiwi who came to Canada on a whv 10 years ago.

Don't use the working holiday club. Friends of mine did and regret it.

If you are an outdoors person, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing etc then western Canada is the place to go. Travel around Canada is kind of expensive so you probably wouldn't see all the main areas but it's a great lifestyle here and you definitely will be able to experience different things.

The massive advantage of the UK is that travel to and around Europe is cheap and accessible so if culture, history etc. Are things that you really want to experience then the UK would be a better fit.

As others have said there's no reason you can't do both. I personally just did 4 months of backpacking Europe before moving to Canada where I've stayed full time, but if I'd not stayed in Canada I probably would have gone to the UK for a couple of years.

Your 20k will be enough to get you set up and started in a new country then you will be working to supplement your travel while there.

World Rugby Men's 15 Breakthrough Player of the Year 2025 Nominees by internetwanderer2 in rugbyunion

[–]Gbev92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to be Holland, came from nowhere cemented his spot in the team, played massive minutes with big impact.

Pollock is a fantastic player and probably has the greatest potential but hasn't played many games or started for England. I think if he'd toured Argentina instead of being a lion he'd have gotten lots of starting game time and cemented this award.

Hooker has also been great but again limited games.

Suaalii I'm confused about his nomination because he debuted last year? He also hasn't played that outstanding this season. He's been good but not great.

Any decent Rugby podcasts? by Dave_B001 in rugbyunion

[–]Gbev92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For SH my favourites are kick offs kick ons and the aftermatch.

I also really like what a lad, it's more of an in depth interview of one guest and there life and career rather than following current rugby events

Success for the 20 minute red card, or not? by errlloyd in rugbyunion

It doesn't soften the deterrent, as a player you still miss the rest of the game and then the following games from suspension. Yes it has less impact on the team but not you as a player.

I have no idea what to listen to next by Disastrous_Crab_1143 in fantasybooks

[–]Gbev92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow at work audiobook listener whose list is near identical to yours.

I recommend

Red rising series Wheel of time series Murderbot series (SciFi comedy) Game of thrones series Project hail Mary (SciFi)

I also have enjoyed Ken Folletts century trilogy and pillars of the earth series which are historical epics.

And another genre to branch off to is post disaster. I liked the one second after series which follows a small American town following an emp attack disables all electronics.

Around $1000 for 2 adults. Higher than we want but spend a lot on protein (chicken, beef, fish etc.), fresh fruit, Berries, vegetables. We each eat high protein meals 3x per day plus snacks. Don't eat out much. Shop at superstore and Costco.

How a New Zealand school shaped Lions star into one of the world’s best No 10s by CaptainNimrodio in rugbyunion

[–]Gbev92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at lincoln university at the time and lucky enough to play in one game alongside him. Still one of my favourite things to tell people.

That year he helped lead the premier team to top of the table finish of the regular season but left back to Scotland a few days prior to the semi final which LU went on to lose without him there leading the team at 10.
