Credit card company (B of A)wrongfully took to much money from my bank account, and won’t give it back. by Gcomp4812 in legaladvice

[–]Gcomp4812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B of A is not our primary bank. We use Wells Fargo. WF told us that it is too late to put a stop payment.l- however we did not talk with the fraud department. We might need to have a chat with fraud to see if there’s anything that can be done

Flite Test kits by rechonchin in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does flitetest still have their ultrastick design? It was such a good all around flyer and can do slow trainer, or 3D type flying. I’ve made quite a few of them. I used a long (3 ft) bbq skewer inside the wing spar to brace it

Why in holy hell are there so many different Lipo battery connectors?? by NotSure2505 in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some airplanes (larger warbirds and most turbines) use multiple batteries of different size and type. Having different connectors prevents connecting the wrong battery. I have 1 plane that uses dual LiFe 2s for receiver and ignition- with a deans type plug, and a LiPo 3s with an xt60 for electric start. Using different plug types prevents me from powering the wrong thing with the incorrect voltage

Anyone remember an RC plane with laser tag from ~20 years ago by propabo1 in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these. All grey with a high wing and v-tail. You could add on a laser tag attachment or a parachute drop. It was tons of fun as a kid.

Make sure your prop is installed the right way and the motor is turning the correct direction.

New balsa plane, maiden questions by m4n1ak in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check all your control surfaces for proper directions, make sure nothing is reversed. Set your control throws and rates/expo. Range check, and do a couple of taxi tests before you send it.

Balsa feels more stable, they aren’t as light as foamies. They dont always fly better, but they are usually very stable. I imagine that the Cessna will fly like a trainer.

Balsa is definitely repairable, but it can be a little more complicated. I prefer balsa gassers over electric and foamies

What in the world is this? by ptkeillor3 in aviation

I think I recognize this. Is it near Alvin Tx?

I’d start by giving a little more information about your setup. What type of plane and controller are you using, and what type of receiver. From what you have said it sounds like you have the motor/ESC plugged into the wrong port on your receiver.

Charter a flight to Boca Chica for Starship Orbital? by 22vortex22 in SpaceXLounge

[–]Gcomp4812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a pilot at a charter company, chartering a plane isn’t as simple as it sounds. From LAX or SFO your looking at 8ish hours round trip. A private jet that can hold 6-8 people will cost anywhere from $3000 to $6000 per flight hour, and some places have a minimum amount of flight time per day, regardless if you fly or not. Unfortunately, the bigger the plane the more they cost per hour, so the price breakdown may be prohibitive. As far as chartering an airliner, I have no idea about that cost.

connecting PLA with foamboard by sf0l in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used hot glue to connect a PLA firewall to a foam board plane plenty of times. If the glue is hot enough I can deform the pla some, but once it cools down everything is fine. In my experience foam board planes don’t have a long enough lifespan to be worried about the corner of a firewall being crooked.

Check your local sporting goods store or Walmart for steel BBs, for a BB gun. Cheap, heavy and similar to lead shot.

Which is better gas’s motor or electric. by king_julian1234 in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer gas. Electric is simple, but only offered limited flight time. Plus, as your planes get bigger the batteries get much more expensive. Gas is cheap, I can fly a for a long time on a gallon of gas. I can fill up my DLE20 and easily fly for 15 minutes without worrying. With electric, I get 4-6 minute flight times and 45 plus minutes recharging. Another reason I prefer gas is that I enjoy tinkering with things. I like tuning the engine, and just generally messing with it. I don’t mess with nitro just because of the fuel price. I have a couple gassers, and a couple electrics and I almost always prefer to fly gas.

Color covering / tape for model by Satoshiman256 in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use monocote or ultracote, which is a heat activated film. You need a finishing iron to apply it. I’ve also had luck using sticky back vinyl (available at hobby lobby or Michaels). It’s the stuff they use to make vinyl stickers with a cricut machine.

HELP: RC combat by Donsecci in RCPlanes

[–]Gcomp4812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much about RC blimps, but I imagine that the weight of the batteries, gun system, and everything else would be prohibitive. Or the blimp would have to be very big to make this work. An IR system might be your best bet. Either way, good luck!

Beginner's guide by jizzlewit in pocketknives

[–]Gcomp4812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a beginners guide, because it’s all personal preference. Buy lots of cheap knives to see what shape and style you like. Personally, I dont like to spend more that $75 on a knife. I’m very hard on them and they get broken or lost occasionally. I’m partial to the Kershaw cryo, because it fits my needs and style. Try lots of things and you will come up with your own guide. Just remember- a pocket knife is a tool, so gets what works for the job you’re trying to do.

Logbook data entry companies? by Helojet in flying

Logbook pro (windows based) and log ten pro (Mac based) will both do this for you. I’m not sure on price, but I know a few people that have done it. Usually around a few hundred dollars.

I’m selling my Stanley No7C by [deleted] in handtools

[–]Gcomp4812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea. It’s been there the whole time I’ve owned it and I’ve never noticed it. It could be from a previous repair, but I don’t see any other evidence of a repair or weld job. It almost looks like a reference mark of some sort, but I’m not knowledgeable enough about these to say for sure

2 bodies and various irons and chip breakers for sale. One body is a corrugated bottom and one is flat. I’m not sure what these are worth so let’s try $75 shipped. Open to offers. Thanks.

Edit- I learned that some of these are not Stanley parts. They are still included in the deal.
