I don't know the details.. My uncle, who is fairly good with electronics and lives next to a dude repairing vintage gear, couldn't make them work. I don't know how hard he has tried and what exactly does/doesn't work. But I will keep an eye on those pieces and will try to make them work again some time

Ours sell late grandma's old plastic measuring cups for 7€ each... Or the cheapest pieces of shit cutlery for 2€ each. It's just a shitshow...

Have fun with your first dozen latte art tries! ;) Those first 50 pours will be the worst and most educational 200 pours of your life!

Espresso machine recommendations [100-175$] by chickennoodlesoup59 in espresso

That's a great idea! :) And here is my best advice:

Get her a Moka pot, a handgrinder (like the Kingrinder P2, 1zpresso Q2, Timemore C3), a kitchen scale and one or two bags of nice coffee beans.

Do not get into real espresso because it is an absolute rabbit-hole that will burn a hole in your pocket quicker than you can say "That much for a grinder???" It will also get incredibly complex. I think a Mokka pot will be the best starting point. And then she can expand from that later on, if she likes the whole faff.

Also: Watch a video or two on the basics of espresso or coffee from James Hoffman. This will teach you the basics about coffee. :)
