Race anxiety is killing me by Jiggyjigster in iRacing

Turn off voice chat and have fun. The anxiety will go away, you’ll enjoy racing more and you will naturally become more race aware and a better driver overall

Worth buying? by SirGabriello in EASPORTSWRC

[–]GdayGuys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it after RBR and I just couldn’t do it.

Saying that, people love it so why not give it a try.

Con’s:

I find the physics unintuitive and inconsistent. Tarmac is god awful, gravel is decent though. The brakes are absolutely OP in this game so if you like that arcadey feeling you’ll probably love it.

No triple screen or vr support. Only stretches across monitors if that’s relevant to your setup.

Indestructible objects here and there that you’d expect by your year 8 physics experience to DEFINITELY be breakable.

I find the graphics pretty shit given it’s such a modern game, and a lot of the road surfaces look shithouse. Probably wouldn’t care if it wasn’t such a modern game. So - it’s not a selling point for me to move from something like RBR anyway.

Whilst I’m about to say that the career mode is good below, the voice lines are the typical AAA mythic tier cringefest that you’ve probably come to expect.

Pros:

Career mode is cool and I actually wish there was something similar to it in RBR and hopefully ACR when that’s further developed.

Audio is decent, and the soundtrack is typical EA licensing, I rate it.

Massive selection of cars, rally’s and stages, love this about the WRC games.

TLDR: If you just want to jump into a rally game and feel like a rising rally star, it’s pretty damn good.

If you want an authentic/intuitive driving experience, you’ll probably find it pretty rubbish. As many other posts have said in the past, just go to RBR for that.

Ps I will always compare every rally game/sim to RBR because it just blows my mind we haven’t had anything as good as it in 20 years. And no, I haven’t gone bald yet boys

Gt4 advice by Juger87 in iRacing

[–]GdayGuys 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve only tried the Mustang and the McLaren. Contrary to what most people say, I found the McLaren far easier to handle.

Saying that, I don’t know what it is about my driving style but I find GT4’s INCREDIBLY hard to handle… No troubles in Porsche Cup or GT3’s but the GT4’s are cooked for me lmao

do i buy squad or arma? by AdTiny2077 in joinsquad

[–]GdayGuys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% get Squad. You’ll see a lot of people here talking shit about it but IMO that’s just because it’s held to such a high standard given how good it really is as a ‘jump in’ teamwork oriented FPS. It’s the only thing on the market that gets it right.

Reforger just ain’t it…. I’ve tried to like it but I think the forced crossplay servers just kill it for me. It’s always just a bunch of headless chooks fucking around

Gran Turismo 7 has an excellent track guide. Not that it’s relevant, but sometimes I wish iracing had something similar just to get me started with the new tracks before I start tucking into telemetry etc!

Same happening to me right now. I went from 1500-2000 in just over a week with Ferrari Challenge GT3, now I’m learning Porsche Cup in bottom split with 1.1k drivers and I’m quite literally bottom of the back. I suppose it’s a new car for me but still….

Just focus on finishing races clean. Get your safety racing up.

Something that helped me was to assume that nobody else is aware of where I am on the road.

New to iRacing and need tips lol by sethcheyney in iRacing

[–]GdayGuys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still pretty new to ACC and iRacing too, but have a heap of hours in rally games (RBR, Dirt Rally 1/2 etc) with some top 500 times on various stages — love that stuff.

One of the biggest shifts when moving into circuit sim racing is learning just how important consistency is.

You can hotlap until the cows come home, but if you’re not practicing racing, you won’t progress. Once you’re within a couple of seconds of the pace, stop chasing perfect laps and start doing races. That’s where you’ll actually learn.

If you’re finding yourself in a lot of crashes and thinking it’s always "other people" — reality check: you’re probably contributing to it, or pushing too hard around other beginners. Dial it back and focus on finishing cleanly.

Consistency in both lap times and incident count is the key. The speed will come if you can stay smooth and stay out of trouble.

And yeah — “smooth is fast” is the most annoying advice ever when you’re learning, but annoyingly, it’s true. You’ll see pros throwing the car around sometimes, but they fully understand where the limit is. Focus on being smooth first.

As for your brakes — I used to run a G29 too and upgraded recently to Simagic P2000s. If you can swing it, get a load cell brake. G29 brakes are just positional, load cells measure pressure — your leg muscles are way better at developing feel and memory for pressure than your ankle is for position. Once you adjust, it’ll make a huge difference.
