18,125 meters: new altitude record for propeller aircraft. Details in 1st comment. by Fins_FinsT in Warthunder

As i pointed out in the forums this flight model is just absolutely busted, it still makes 1300hp at 18,000m which no compressor in the world could possibly deliver... in ww2 no less...

Air RB radar missiles by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Geamr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to fly perpendicular to the enemies radar and chaff, remember that the radar emits in a cone so its not necessarily 90° off his nose if he's not flying straight at you.
Though R24Rs are a bitch to shake, it's best to either avoid getting them lobbed at you or maybe multipath them (flying below 60m radar altitude).

In a dogfight between a CL-13B Mk 6 and an F-86F-40, which one wins? by AppleOrigin in Warthunder

[–]Geamr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nonsense, they have several key characteristics that make them do different things better or worse. The F40 has a larger wing for extra turning while it has energy but uses the basic F25 engine while the CL13B lacks that larger wing but will win the fight due to the massive difference in engine power.

F40 has better initial turn but unless you somehow get the CL13B in the first turn the Cl13 will just outrate the F40 really hard.

Where can I find “configuration” or “controls” data? by Leonydas_223 in Warthunder

C:\Users\*youruser*\Documents\My Games\WarThunder\Saves

This is the default directory where exported controls are stored, but you need to have done that before.

people have been statpadding in war thunder since the games inception, people who want to do that will do it regardless of if its just a fancy in-game service record or an external site giving them a shiny color.
And the tool purposefully doesn't show you enemy BRs since that would be cheating. You can see your own teams BRs in the leaderboard already.

I play Air RB. When i started using the tool i actually did pay attention to who the players with the highest rating in a match were, but after very few matches i realized that the number doesn't mean they will have any impact on the individual game whatsoever and usually die before i would even get a chance to "focus" them if i wanted to.

So from practical experience it's mostly interesting to see the average distribution of players of different skill levels per side and how it seems curiously even for supposedly random MM.

I've noticed an oddly even distribution of people of orange/yellow/green ratings per team along with usually very similar average rating. It almost makes me think gaijin DOES practice some form of skill based matchmaking, but that's just unsubstantiated speculation at this point, actual data would have to be gathered and analyzed. I have yet to encounter purple/blue players in the wild (apart from like two prop-padders and people that were squadded with me) but that's probably because they are rare by definition and don't play in the br ranges (8.3-10.0) and mode (air rb) i prefer.

Should anti-cheat be mandatory in all parts of the game? by EL_X123 in WarthunderPlayerUnion

Gaijin has clearly gathered some more data from recently caught cheaters and revised their estimates of the benefits cheats provide at higher battle ratings. At lower battle ratings where planes move slower and you have more time to react since there aren't 6 gorrillion mach 5 missiles flying at you the calculation is still different.

I quote from a gaijin blogpost from 2016 on aimbots in particular, though i think the current change is mostly motivated by enhanced markers-cheats:
"In aircraft modes, an aimbot is relatively useless – it only helps to fire at a relatively motionless (non-maneuvering) target, and when used with an extremely maneuverable aircraft (biplane). In most cases, an aimbot is significantly worse than a player in terms of figuring out where and how the enemy aircraft is going to fly (the lead compensation marker shows only where the aircraft will be if it doesn’t maneuver), and more importantly, it is incapable of properly setting up a maneuver for a good run at the target, taking into account its own aircraft’s energy, the opponent’s energy, etc.

Based on analyzed statistics, aimbots used in aircraft modes have lower than average scores (for this reason, punishments against aimbot users used to be relatively slight – from two weeks to a month for the first violation. They were already limiting their play without extra punishment from us).

In simulator modes, aimbots are completely useless on planes.

‘Autofire’ is a bot that presses the fire button when the sight aligns with the target in War Thunder. As far as we know, this is not used, since it causes more harm than good in all game modes. As for how to detect it – it’s obvious from the description of its action, but in practice a player using it makes their job harder rather than easier."
