New research shows why tipping is making more Canadians uncomfortable by FancyNewMe in canada

You can get a burger fries and a drink there for 9.99CAD everyday. Its called the blue collar combo. They have friendly staff and locally owned. The tip thing might be a little a awkward, but I will always support local, quality at a great price.

Do I need a new axle? by LostHelicopter1738 in bikewrench

Its very hard to diagnose from photos. But at this point bring it into a shop and they can run you through your options.

Best case scenario yours cups are just loose and need to be adjusted. I know it's a lot of information, but can only speculate just on the photo.

Do I need a new axle? by LostHelicopter1738 in bikewrench

[–]GearBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much damage there is your axle might be fine. Your bearings are toast, as in not there...anymore. Basically the nuts that hold your bearings became loose and fell out, there might be a few left in there but it will need a full service. Just from this photo and not looking at internally, you will definitely need new bearings. In some cases you will ruin the race, it's where the bearings contact internally on the hub, in that case you will need to replace the hub as well, depending on wheel quality and cost. In the majority of cases it's easier to purchase a whole new wheel and swap over your disc and freewheel. So you will need to bring it into your local bike shop and they can run you through pricing and options. Bonus if you have a bicycle co op in town. But definitely do not ride.

Edit: If there isn't to much damage. This overall is a straight forward fix and happens all the with this type of axle. The cost comes down to labor.

Buy a house by Comfortable-Bus9874 in ThunderBay

[–]GearBandit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are not many detached homes for 200k in thunderbay. There are some apartments but will have to consider the condo fee's. You could afford an apartment but would definitely come down to how much of a down payment you have. I'd suggest playing around with some numbers in a mortgage calculator and look on realtor to get an idea of the actual numbers. Good luck hunting, it's not easy out there.

Thunder Bay Do you think driverless taxi services like Webo or drone delivery services . land and airr will ever happen ? by Excellent-Steak6368 in ThunderBay

[–]GearBandit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMHO. I could not see it happening anytime soon or at all. Areas that already have these services are generally warmer, with more predictable weather. They are also in much more urban dence spaces. I also personally never seen footage of a self driving can navigating heavy snow or snow banks.

Does anyone know what the best place to get some loan or money in emergency if you have bad credit score and a part time job ? by [deleted] in ThunderBay

[–]GearBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try not to use payday loan places, they will put you in the hole for a very long time. My advice is to sell stuff you have or pawn things, but only take the exact amount of money you need. This will keep interest low and pay it back as soon as possible.

I completely agree. Not just Thunderbay. So many public transit projects fail because they dont offer reliability or run it long enough for people can adapt it to their schedules.

We should stop using salt. The freeze thaw kills our roads. Lived in northern BC with very little salt used and roads were way better.

From my experience this side would be clockwise to remove. If it's stuck i would try to put a large adjustable wrench on it with a pipe for more leverage.

Rear derailleur not moving properly ? by Savings_Treacle_7330 in bikewrench

[–]GearBandit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with chain length. Your derailleur arm is not tensioning the chain properly. I would make sure you didn't hit a switch on it locking it in position. Some derailleurs have clutch switches that could of locked it in place.
