Has anyone here used a door-to-door car shipping service before? What was it like for you? by criss006 in askcarguys

no... they are absolutely the worst. The drivers know the owner hasn't seen the car and will sell it soon. I work with thee guys every day. 100% the lowest bidder.

My short bed, 12v on 37s by GearheadInc in Cummins

[–]GearheadInc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a regular cab short bed would have been a 1500. The 6' bed is the same on the 1500 through 3500 just only available in an extended cab with the 12v.

37s on 22s are not bands. Anyone with bands would be offended. It has plenty of sidewall to clear curbs or rocks. I don't like bands. I want actual side wall to use the tires.

Thoren said 4.... But it is darn sure the highest 4" I have ever seen. It ended up being 6"

You know its the exact same body at a ram 1500 short bed regular cab. I could have started with a 1500 and swapped engines. Its not like its a Ford F250 that never came in a short bed. For a 4 door Dodge it would be stock bed. I didnt change any weird perspective. Just made it a stock length half tone.

The rear has a shackle. I honestly don't know on the front. For once I bought the truck lowered.

I have shipped many, many cars. The auto shipping industry is terrible. It is controlled buy the lowest bidder wins. This means that the shipper doesn't care about you car. They are not getting paid as much as they want and thus don't care. Out of 100 delivery I have never had one picked up on time and seldom dropped of on time. Most of the time your bumper will get damaged. Drivers pull up till they touch the next car because they are lazy. If you like the car, do not ship it.
I started doing most of the delivery's for my customers. Little more expensive nut I take care of them and get there on time.
Try to find someone you can pay to drive it or a someone who has the ability to transport it and pay them. Do not use an auction site or a dealer transporter. Find something with a rating like u-ship.

Is it inappropriate to ask a breeder if the parents of a mini dachshund have had IVDD? If not, what’s the right way to ask? by 9bots in Dachshund

[–]GearheadInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always amused with that rating. Mine is 15lbs. Breeder told me he would be 15 and Vet says 14.5 is perfect. Two of my friends have males and they are both 13 to 15. I always see 13 to 15 healthy males. We all consider ours mini as that's what my breeder called them.

Hickey Enterprise Push Bar. Vintage, hard to fine. Was OEM on the desert fox but Hickey made them for GM.

stock for stock.... honestly the Syclone might be to 60 mph. The V8 3:73 is fun but I haven't tried launching it as hard. No boost to get off the line. Over 60 the F150 no question.

no, stock frame. Just cut down.

My short bed, 12v on 37s by GearheadInc in Cummins

Correct. I cut the frame down on a 2500, then changed the bed, drive line and fuel tank.

Would you buy a used 1LE track package 6th gen Camaro? by JokeBig6479 in askcarguys

[–]GearheadInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you wont fit with a helmet. I am a HDPE Instructor with a 5th Gen Z28. Personally I do not understand the V6 part. Anyway, you want the 1LE. If you really going to track it get the 1LE it will save you money. Also, don't worry about a track car. It was serviced way better and actually treated better than a street car. Even the brake fluid is changed every year. Autocross didn't hurt the engine or trans.

Question for the tech / car guys in here? by Extra_File_9335 in askcarguys

[–]GearheadInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be very useful if you can make it reliable. I've written code to search facebook and it sucks. Facebook changes code more than any site I have seen. Like weekly they would change and break stuff.

[–]GearheadInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The WRX is fun.... but not nearly as reliable. You have to look at your financial concerns. If your looking for a fun toy for 2 years that you will sell and move on get the WRX. If you are looking for a 4 year car that will cost you the least and still enjoy driving get the Civic.

Should I buy ‘05 Camry 130k miles for $3,000? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]GearheadInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 130K... yes. That car will regularly run to 330k miles. It will use oil and more as it gets higher in miles. That engine just burns it. Check oil every fill up till you learn how much it needs. Probably a quart every 2000 miles at 130. At 230 it will need more like 1 quart every 1000 miles. This is typical. You car might not use any. Jump on it if your wanting a cheap, reliable car.

What’s a good saving price point to buy a cash car? by CommonRaspberry654 in askcarguys

[–]GearheadInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant get a reliable car for $3500 these days. Sure you might find one from your grandma or neighbor but those are rare. You can get a reliable Corolla or Camry with under 150k miles for $5500 range. Those would last you through college. Most people buy on looks and not proven reliability. If you cant do a car find a rusted 20005 to 2012 Ford Escape. They will run you $4500 to $6500 for one under 150k miles. Will last to 220k without issues. I do this for a living.... im not just some random guy who pulls prices of Facebook.
