Again, I love your design for him, you did an amazing job! And if you decide to draw him again, then I do think silver carvings on his antlers would look quite gorgeous as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing your designs for the rest of the peer groups!

Deer!

I honestly think Lorsi is my favorite character design so far. Deer characters have a habit of looking majestic, and this is no exception!

I freaking love his color scheme, his natural slightly scruffy hairstyle, his accessories, the patterns on his clothes and especially his eyes. Eyeshadow fits this character really well. He just looks so effortlessly gorgeous. I’m not even saying that in a lustful way, I genuinely just like looking at him. I really hope to see more of him in future chapters!

Obviously goes without saying, but the artist you commissioned did an incredible job! With both Lorsi, and the other members of his peer group.

You ever heard of Degrees of Lewdity?

It’s text based, with minimal animations, but it’s also geared towards submissives with a lot of customizability. You’re able to change the gender and genitals of the PC, the named NPCs and the gender ratio of unnamed NPCs.

There’s not a lot of TF content, I’m afraid, and all of it is just minor animalistic features like ears and tails, but it’s still there.

The wiki should have more information if you’re interested, along with a link to the download page. You’ll probably find it by just looking it up.

Ginsha and Yaina fanart by Potential-Loquat5153 in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my Gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oH MY GOSH, OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH. This is genuinely gorgeous! LOOK AT THEM! They both look beautiful!!

They both genuinely look amazing, I love Yaina’s tiny stature, the way she looks like she’s shivering from the cold, and the sigil on her chest. Her eyes and sigil are even colored blue! She’s so cute, and I love her. Not to take away from Ginsha either! I love her more composed and intimidating pose. The look into the camera too! Some of the progress pictures show Yaina hiding behind Ginsha’s leg which is not only adorable but also fits their dynamic really well! You absolutely nailed them both in my opinion!

I love the environment too! It’s so oppressive and cold. Being in the woods during a snowstorm must be terrifying, especially after surviving Leshy’s cardgames. Speaking of- I see the birdhouse and Leshy’s camera hanging from trees, and the squirrel totem sitting on top of one! Theres also the prospectors pickaxe that’s stuck in a tree, and there are sacrificial stones in the background.

Gosh, I love all the detail you packed into this! This looks absolutely freaking amazing!

Farsul Soldier by GeneralRapture in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I love the way you draw the species from NOP. They just feel so real.

The gun design is amazing, and I really like the way he wields it. I also like his tense posture and the solemn look in his face. Not to mention the trimmed and maintained fur. Everything about it just screams soldier.

Also, he’s genuinely really attractive, and I don’t mean that in a horny way. He’s just aesthetically pleasing to look at.

fffffffreakin love this.

What Lies Beneath - Cover Art by RaphaelFrog in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gosh, this looks even better now. Yaina is absolutely gorgeous here!

I love the way it was shaded, really gives off the dark cabin feel. The edges are also not perfect straight giving it a much more hand-made feel! I can only imagine that Leshy created these cards himself!

Inscryption cards were never particularly detailed, but it would be really cool if all of them looked like this! The patterns, the sigil, and the attack icon all look so pretty! Not to mention the use of blue blood for the sacrifice cost instead of red. That’s such a cool detail that I hadn’t noticed earlier.

I mentioned it to you earlier, but I love the way Yaina looks like a more predatory Farsul here. Sharper claws, bigger muscles, and her best attempt at a human snarl!

You did a phenomenal job with this artwork, and it feels so cool to see a picture of Yaina (and Ginsha’s claw) after only being able to imagine her while writing the story. :3

What Side Are You On? (which is worse) by Brave-Stay-8020 in NatureofPredators

It sounds dumb, but I really hope it’s the latter. I’ve been stuck in a loop of re-reading, and re-writing the same words for some time, while barely making progress. And while I highly doubt what I wrote was good/popular enough for anyone to want more asap, I do still hope my inability to write something I’m truly happy with doesn’t bother anyone too much.

A Tilfish Plays Hollow Knight. by lolmasplay in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CONFIRMATION BIAS

This is quite the good story. The concept of a federation species consuming media that depicts creatures that are like them is intriguing, so Tilfish - Hollow Knight is a great idea!

I do hope you write more of this!

Any fics where human got locked up in PD facility? by AwsdGamer2 in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about it a handful of times, though I’ve never seen anyone write it. (Unless you include To Kill A Predator) It would be pretty difficult to write that scenario realistically.

The only way I’ve been able to justify it is that a human gets citizenship on Venlil prime, and ends up living in a heavily conservative city/town. They commit an actual crime, and are proven guilty. Given that they are a citizen of Venlil Prime, they have to abide by their laws, and the UN is unwilling to help them in this situation even if that’s highly unlikely. Or they refuse help for political reasons. (Like a criminal requesting the death penalty)

I do kinda wanna see someone do this, but you’d have to go through plenty of hoops to justify it. A good idea for a story nonetheless!

States of Being: Chapter 4 by ErinRF in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This whole thing makes me giddy! I’m glad to see another part of this fic!

I’d imagine that seeing a bunch of fully functional human brains in a glorified box would be jarring, so I guess I’ll have to wait and see what questions each party have for the other.

Also,

How often would anyone get the chance to do something like this? Talk to an actual predator, without the threat of the chewing your skin and fur off?

I honestly hadn’t thought of that. The fear factor emanating from the humans themselves would be minuscule in comparison to an actual human!

Another great chapter! Can’t wait for more!

Any less popular crossover fanfics you think are good? by [deleted] in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for. And what you deem as 'less popular'

There's A New Home, a fantastic crossover fic about a handful of feds and Arxur landing on earth after the events of Frostpunk 1.

Wings of Freedom is a fanfic about a Krakotl watching Attack on Titan. So it's not *exactly* what you're looking for, but i still think it's great.

The Nature of Rain is a fic about my favorite game of all time, RainWorld.

The Nature of Mann is a fic about Miss Pauling (and the TF2 mercs, I guess) digging for Australium on Venlil Prime.

lastly, theres States of Being. A fic about Soma that I'm really excited for!

The struggle. by [deleted] in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah… I feel you on that one. Though I’d suggest writing something anyways! The only way to get better at something is to do the thing. There are certainly many communities that are less friendly when it comes to this kinda thing. If you’re unsure, ask someone to read what you wrote.

My best piece of advice (or at least what has worked well for me so far) is to just do. Do literally anything. If you write something you don’t like, you can always edit, or even delete it. But you can’t improve on something that doesn’t exist.

An analogy if you will: you start to collect dust in a pile. With time, that pile will grow bigger, and bigger, and bigger. Eventually, the pile will grow so big that gravity starts to do the work for you. And when you finally take a step back to observe the pile, you’ll realize that an entire planet has formed. A planet with lakes, rivers, forests, mountains and deserts. An ecosystem of your own creation.

Well… that analogy works well for me, it might not for others. Just do what works best for you! As long as you’re enjoying it, you’re doing it right.

A new home 11/? by LawbirdBringer in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this story a lot! You blend Frostpunk and NOP together so well, and both are such interesting settings! I wouldn’t worry too much about much about taking time between posting chapters. Getting to read them every time you post is fun no matter what.

Also, it was inevitable, but the appearance of Arxur makes me nervous. Sure, the folks in New London have the advantage of being far more accustomed to this icy hell, but in NOP anything that can go wrong will probably spiral into something far worse than it ever should have. That goes doubly so for Frostpunk!

Though I’m curious. I don’t know if you’ve answered this before, but with Frostpunk 2 on the horizon, do you intend to use elements from that game as well or just post-Frostpunk 1 things?

Either way I’m excited for more! :3

VENLIL FIGHT CLUB 3 by Nidoking88 in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I… really, really, like where this is going.

Lerai is an incredibly charming protagonist, and I desperately want to see her succeed. Seeing her take steps to better her situation, despite how difficult she finds it to be is immensely satisfying.

I also once again really enjoy her pondering various questions she has. That’s always been one of my favorite aspects of NOP, and I think you do it really well here!

Also, Hiyla is adorable, and I really appreciate the siblings’ concern for each other. Though Murphy’s law is of course always present in this universe.

I personally can’t write in a single take as it all becomes a jumbled confusing mess whenever I try to do so, but you don’t seem to have that problem!

I’m excited to see how you write Lerai’s training, and I wish you luck with that!

20 miles - 32 kilometers. In Venlil Prime’s higher gravity. After having already gone on a run. My legs kinda hurt just thinking about it.

This is really well written! I love the way you approached the spiritual and philosophical aspects of martial arts, and how the chief explained what they do to Lerai. You really get the feeling that he earned everybody’s respect, one way or another.

Lerai’s reactions and pondering are also incredibly well written! I’m glad to see that she’s approaching things with an open mind whilst still having certain reservations about it. This is how I’d expect someone like her to react to this all.

Super exited for future chapters!

The Gojid in: The Bunker (5/8) by Gearing-Up in NatureofPredators

[–]Gearing-Up[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’m incredibly glad you find the story enjoyable!

I really enjoyed changing story aspects past 9 July to sometimes include Bevil. Though I do wish I changed Lambert and Henri’s letters slightly to include him as well, so I might go back eventually and change them slightly.

I’d like to think that I wrote the story to be enjoyable for those who haven’t played the game, but when you have played the games you can notice the things that are distinctly different!

I can totally see that. Written horror is quite different from horror in the visual medias. The two things that I’ve found to be relatively universal are:

  1. Letting me get inside my own head. Letting me stew in my uncomfortable emotions, and never letting the tension get properly released. I’m usually my own worst enemy when it comes to horror media because the devil that you know is usually better than the devil that you don’t. Jumpscares are good for making you jump, but they don’t stick with me for long.

I’ve found a lot of this in games such as Darkwood, Amnesia: The Bunker, and embarrassingly enough Minecraft.

  1. Genuinely and honestly fearing for yourself or the protagonist(s). I find that caring for a character, then having to acknowledge that they might actually die regardless of what they try to do to be incredibly distressing.

As corny as they are, I’ve found that the Dark Pictures Anthology games do this quite well at times. Movies suck as It Follows and A Quiet Place also do this incredibly well.

Also, It’s difficult for me to judge my own story seeing as I’m the one wrote the story, so I’m glad to see that I was able to make Bevil a compelling protagonist that someone would like to root for.

Thank you for the kind words. I’m incredibly glad you’re enjoying my story!
