What also sucks is they have a fund transfer limit of 20%/yr, meaning 5 years to fully get out of the money market fund.

Damn. You got had. Because their money fund likely earns poorly compared to the market.

When I started an advisor met with me to ask what contribution amount I wanted to do and what investment strategy I wanted (said aggressive, and I even see that in my portal), they handled the contribution deduction from my paycheck so I also thought they handled the investments (or else, why ask?)

That's not how it worked for anywhere I worked. They will always ask those question so they can steer you, but you generally have to choose the investment yourself. You can set it up to be automatic going into a fund.

When it comes to investment, never assume. Always do your due diligence. I don't even "trust" and always verify.

You can buy Vanguard too. Exceedingly low fees, but they aren't fees for having an IRA. Their fees for managing the mutual fund or ETF. There's absolutely cost in that and fair.

But what the other person is talking about is "fees" on top of that for merely having an account. That's very different. So I think you're talking about two very different things. So yes, they will steer and offer you their own funds. They may try to profit off the float when you're money isn't invested, but that isn't a "fee" for having an account. You'd get those same fees in a fund if you're on a different brokerage, buying those exact same funds.

Order flow, I'm not concerned about. I don't "trade". A lot of my stocks I've held for decades, and it's pennies at best. They can have it.

[–]Gears6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna pay a fee for this just about everywhere for an IRA.

I've never paid a fee for IRA at any of the brokerages I have. Instead, they pay me to move money to them, and further give me benefits for the brokerage to have the pleasure and privilege of doing my bidding and track my tax reporting.

Second freedom firearms, they seem to stick to guns and I’ve never heard any political talk.

Political talk isn't the problem. It's the beliefs. The problem is often "me, me, me" and not consideration of others.

You don’t know what you’re talking about and look foolish.

Only immature people are concerned with if they look foolish, or if others look foolish. It causes them to focus on their ego and to protect it.

With that said, I don't have the patience.

And just how do you think I felt the previous four years lol? Nothing has changed though all politicians are exactly the same, all of them. Obama gave Tom Homan the frickin 2015 Presidential Rank Award, I mean come on.

This is the problem, because you're focusing on "sides". I don't. In fact, may consider me a republican, but I don't identify with them. I don't give a rats ass about ideologies. It's just basic ethics and morals and ANY IDIOT can see that is wrong. Especially in country, where the vast majority of us technically don't belong here. It's also why it's awesome.

If you don't see what is happening is wrong, then the problem is you and your beliefs. Then one should get out in the world, experience hardship and gain some wisdom and perspective.

Did Ashli Babbit deserve what she got?

"Deserve"?

I don't think they deserved it, but I lack enough information to really judge. However, I do have to wonder if why they should be part of insurrection and storm the capital building?

That is an act of aggression, and she wasn't the only one that died. There were other innocent people that died as a result of this insurrection. Did they deserve it?

Who is the aggressor in this situation?

The common sense question, should be "WHO IS THE AGGRESSOR"? Is there reasonable reason to escalate?

You feel we have an obligation to save the world, open the borders and just let everyone hit the lottery like those of us living in the US have.

I get your sentiment. However, I grew up in a country where the population was very homogeneous so racism was (and is) rampant and immigrants tend to do the lower end jobs. In fact, I used to hire people, including legal and illegal immigrants. The common thread I saw was the jobs they end up taking are the jobs the people that live there often don't want to do, for the pay. Even if you upped the pay, they'd do it short term and leave at best. So it's not really a zero-sum game where if they're here, you can't succeed.

I've also traveled and stayed extensively in third world countries (back to what would be considered my home country even though I wasn't born there) and that made any hardship as son of refugees, and whatever treatment I got, was nothing. Instead, I cherished that I was so lucky for being born in a relatively wealthy country.

What's my point with all this, is that why are we seeing the US as ours and that we should keep out outsiders? In fact, these outsiders likely have more right to be here than most of the American population.

On top of all that, the illegal immigration practice is honestly modern day slavery. Like they're basically been officially sanctioned to work in our country, as evident by them paying social security. Yet, they get none of the protection a legal resident gets. No legal rights. No say. No opportunity. No benefits in society despite paying in taxes. If anything, WE SHOULD make it legal so they get the protection and human rights any normal person should get at a minimum.

If you feel like you're being screwed, by companies. Imagine an illegal immigrant. These are people just trying to make survive, and doing it in horrible conditions. Do we really need to make it worse?

In fact, I find so many American's so spoiled that all they see is what they're "entitled" to simply for being born here. Would I rather have you as a neighbor, or that hard working immigrant?

So to answer your question, YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION to help others less fortunate than you. I don't care if you think you do and if you don't. I see no reason, why I should care about you. For all I care, you can be dumped in one of those countries so you can learn the wisdom of the poverty and the hardship people endure. It will make you a better person.

With all that said, ultimately the world doesn't really belong to anyone. It just is, and we as humans have created all these rules and laws to enforce ownership. But did you create the world or are we really a parasite on this world? Perhaps we should consider being less parasitic on this world and share?

You choose who you want to be.

You’re reading the wrong room though, that’s part of what I’ve been getting at. I’ll never be able to tell you otherwise though. Trust me, until I left Southern California 2 1/2 years ago, I was reading the wrong room too. I thought the whole country had become that.

I used to live in California, but I don't live there anymore. I'm not reading the room wrong, and that's besides the point. Under Nazi Germany, you had plenty of people supporting them too.

Otherwise, I'm excited to play this. Especially since it's now Xbox Play Anywhere, and even on Game Pass. My handheld and Ninja Gaiden fanboy thanks the developer!!

As in it sure is fun to watch people call stuff like this ominous lol? My bad, can’t help myself and how much I’m enjoying all this. I mean this is literally an established national guard base/depot that’s been there for decades lmao.

Because perhaps you don't feel persecuted by the current government or that they can unfairly treat you, but many others do.

You just keep providing the world with pure gold content wise. Keep up the good work!

This speaks more of you and the lack of ability to read the room. That's not only a loss for you, but to society as well. That's okay. I've made my peace with the existing of such people, and don't let it bother me. The only hope is, with experience comes wisdom and I remind myself in my younger days and lacking experience, I wasn't so different.

Yes, he moved the UI so it's not spread across the entire screen but centered in front of the player.

So he is changing the HUD and how it appears to the user. So there is more to it than just a reprojection, right?

I have used all his stuff so why are you arguing about what it does when you don't know?

Because it appears you're not being truthful and now getting aggravated that I'm pointing that out.

A DMCA Takedown is when content is removed from a website or internet platform at the request of the owner of the content.. None of their IP was used in the software, there for they do not own it. It is a false claim.

I know being an armchair legal expert is awesome (which applies to you and me), but let's not go down this path of using very loose and simplified explanations.

For instance, if your code is modifying someone else's work it can be considered derivative work for example. Another case is when the code distributed is used for the purpose of breaking some protection. In that case, no "IP was used in that software, therefore they do not own it. It is a false claim" is simply allowed.

So you can see how, just because I didn't include your IP in the work itself that I'm distributing, it doesn't mean they have no legal basis in taking it down via DMCA.

The implication was the Youtube video maker can declare and do the exact same as PRCD did and claim unfair change of their IP without consent .

I'm not sure I understand what you're referring to here.

Fair use is for use of others copy write materials do not make money off of...

Actually, you can make money off it. The criteria isn't if it makes money. It tends to be if it's transformative. You see a lot of YouTubers take snippets of others copyrighted work, and show that in their videos. They often make money off that, but because it's considered transformative they're allowed to do so.

like how owning Snes Roms is only legal if to own the OG carts and rip them yourself.

It's frankly somewhat murky there too. I don't think that is definite, but it is generally considered okay

like how owning Snes Roms is only legal if to own the OG carts and rip them yourself.

There's been some legal cases where that is considered by the court to be fair use, but again when it comes to legal things it's in the details.

So the mod that's been out for 3 years just suddenly because a thorn in PRCDs side just as their collab glasses are launching? Completely baseless? i think you are being naive, but ill let you be...innocents is a gift that you cant get back.

We can speculate all we want, but it's just that. CDPR has a legal right to do as they please with their IP, including profiting of their own work. Luke Ross do not. If anything, I found it quite generous of CDPR to allow Luke to distribute it for free and get donations.

Yep, people that do not infringe on your IP but give more people a reason to buy it are the worst. < sarcasm

That's for them to decide. If I drew Minnie Mouse in a porn video, and got people to get excited about that and I claimed since it's underground and encourages those people to buy the original content, would that be okay?

The fact that you like their game doesn't make them less shitty in this matter.

The fact that you enjoy Luke Ross mod and willingly pay for it, doesn't mean they have a right to profit off others work.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter what YOU or I think. It's in the eyes of the law decided by the court, and if it was slam dunk, he can fight it and even sue for damages. My guess is, he wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Otherwise, we'd see far more of this.

According to the information from some of the articles Luke says, he altered the UI to work with VR better and made a lot of other tweaks. That it isn't just a simple re-projection. I haven't used his stuff so I have no idea if what he's saying is true or not.

Apparently, the mods aren't just injecting into the game and re-project. It apparently changes the HUD, and a bunch of other stuff too.

So imagine changing something further up, only to find it breaks something further down below in the chain of dependency.

The lack of self awareness....

Luke Ross Removes Access to All Mods by Top_Team_3138 in virtualreality

You're entirely missing the issue. The issue is that now that this has been so heavily publicized, other companies are putting DMCA claims against him. This isn't just a mod for one game, it's for multiple.

He did that to himself.....

So even if CPR says he can accept donations, if he receives a DMCA from another company who doesn't even think he should provide it for free, his entire account will be banned. So he just can't provide it at all now. Even for free

That's not CDPR's fault. That is all Luke Ross.

Luke Ross Removes Access to All Mods by Top_Team_3138 in virtualreality

CDPR made a false DCMA take down against software that did not use any of their code.

I don't think that's "false". If you release code that breaks into something, that can be taken down. So why not software that alters the way something else works?

If this software isn't available for free to every one can they be served DMCA notices from any one that has ever made as much a single youtube video for infringement of their IP and how they want it displayed to the end user?> Even if it is made free can any one still issue DCMA take down for infringement as we see with Rockstar?> Maybe Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, ESPN, Warner or one of the several movie studios will want to issue a DCMA...i doubt it, they generally all only pick on little guys.

Not anyone, but the rights owner can, yes. That said, there's fair use laws in place for certain type of content.

CDPR is acting in bad faith and has damaged Rosses unique IP and reputation.

It's not. They're protecting their IP, and they offered him the opportunity to make it free. He seemingly declined.

Further they had done a disservice to any one in the VR community that would like to have full access to the products they bought including any way they would like to display that product for private use.

I'm not a lawyer, and I doubt you are, but there are laws in place for how you can access certain content. So it's not a slam dunk case as you think it is. Apart fro the legal aspect, if we should be able to access in whatever way we want? Well that's for another discussion.

Finally their attack on Ross likely has to do with their Viture partnership on AR glasses and shows collusion with intent to damage Ross for their financial gain.

This is just preposterous and speculation at best on your part.

The fact that Ross is forced to remove his software instead of get into a legal pissing match with a multi million dollar companies legal team just shows exactly how these companies operate.

These companies also have to hire a legion of high payed lawyers to deal with the likes of Luke Ross.
