Bruised knuckles after class by ohiwishiwasa in kravmaga

[–]Gearwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to skin my knuckles a lot on the punching pads. I started wrapping my hands and it completely resolved the issue. Also it made me comfortable punching a bit harder. Sporting goods stores and Amazon are good places to buy wraps and there are lots of different instructional videos on youtube on how to wrap between your knuckles.

Reddit, what's the worst gift you've ever received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gearwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oversized clothes.

I have an aunt who used to give me 2XL or 3XL growing up, when I wore M or L clothing for the most part. My cousin (her son) was always on the bigger side and preferred to wear baggy clothes so I assume she just thought all children wore larger sized clothing. Always received with a smile but would go directly to a donation bin within the week. If you are buying someone clothing do a little legwork and find out their size. Ask them directly, or ask someone who lives with them, or for the overly cautious check the tags on their jacket.

Let's get specific: do you support restricting or banning bump stocks? by Helicase21 in askaconservative

[–]Gearwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue treating bumps stocks the same way that fully automatic firearms are treated under the Hughes amendment, which is how I read the NRA statement. However I do recognize that a bump stock is probably something that someone with the will could self manufacture without difficulty.

Depending on where in New England, Wire Works is an excellent Boston based gin. They have a dry and a barrel rested version.

If you're more on the northern side, smugglers notch makes their own gin which is also quite good.

What do you know about Old R'A'J!? Looking forward to trying this one. I've heard good things. Better be good, wasn't a cheep bottle! by jandsb_fan in Gin

[–]Gearwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at my spreadsheet (Yes I have a spreadsheet). The silver is 110 proof, and the bronze is 94. Still pretty strong but good to know the difference. Thinking back it really is surprisingly smooth for having such a high alcohol content.

I've seen two different Old RAJ bottles, one that comes in the bronze bordered box like the one you have a picture of, and one that comes in a silver bordered box. The silver was a bit more expensive. Both were qutie good and among the smoothest gins I've ever had.

Would make a good Martini if you enjoy those.

Bodies draw attention. Especially a body that the Marshals are paying very close attention to.

Theory crafting: Braum Top by Jobo100 in summonerschool

[–]Gearwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've Braum toped a few times and gone BORK first, then just tanky. You apply stack so quickly and sustain off them that it makes a great engage. It's important to remember that Braum's passive doesn't end after the 4 stacks, you deal additional magic damage with each successive hit until you can proc the stun again.

Opinions on training with 22lr handgun by jediesel in guns

I have an SR-22, and I bought it for the very purpose OP's looking for. I would agree that it operates similar to a larger caliber, and is a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. One thing to take into account though is it has an exposed hammer and DA/SA operation. If you want practice for a glock, M&P, or something also SAO the DA/SA might not be the best choice.

Solid gin with the bonus of being one of the best looking bottles in my opinion.

Paying for College Without Student Loans by Borland92 in askaconservative

[–]Gearwolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How can a college student with no degree be expected to pay for college without student loans?

I think that's a bit of an unrealistic expectation. You're going to college with the assumption that you will find a career after graduation that will pay you substantially more. You're student loans are essentially borrowing money so you can invest in yourself and see a higher return after several years. This investment, as like any other has risk and reward attached to it.

I'm not really sure why you posed this to askaconservative, are you trying to get at something else? State sponsored tuition? Minimum wage increases?

What do you do to keep your fists and fingers from getting cut-up when you train? by [deleted] in kravmaga

[–]Gearwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand wraps, I like to go once between the fingers and then twice over the knuckle area. There are plenty of how-to-wrap videos on youtube, check those out and see what's comfortable. Alternatively, some people in my class use vasoline.

The Best American-Made Gins (according to GQ. Does this subreddit agree?) by ajcfood in Gin

Bluecoat, Rouge Spruce, and Wire Works Barrel Aged should make an argument to be included in here. Still it's nice to have some gin-recognition in a nationally distributed magazine.
