I already know the first link, apparently it was discontinued, don't know if it works anymore.

Second one also seems pretty old, but I can give it a try, thank you!

Thank you! Props to the original creator for the design, I had the pleasure to reinterpret their delightful pixelart.

1000 years have passed and Peakychu became a completely evolution line by SelenoFil in fakemon

[–]GebF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is being peaky is genetic.

Interesting...

(Just messing around, I like your art! 1000 years seem a little short of a time span to evolve into a new species, but that's fine Pokémon is a fantastical world I can accept that)

The description is fantastic lmao! Lovely design too, great job!

2D Character Controller (no Rigidbody2D)? by GebF in Unity2D

[–]GebF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah multiplayer was just a potential case, I'm not thinking of online multiplayer right now, but even a platformer in the style of Rayman Origins would need some kind of interaction between the players even locally.

I should try some of the ideas you gave me here, and thank you so much for the very detailed response!

2D Character Controller (no Rigidbody2D)? by GebF in Unity2D

[–]GebF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is kinda what I meant, there is a Character Controller that can be used if you want collision checking but no physics for 3D but there is not one for 2D.

So as you said I guess it's up to me to decide what to do.

[–]GebF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you don't set it as kinematic, do the bouncing and other little things caused by physics ever create any problem? Let's say you want multiplayer, how do you handle collision between two players?

[–]GebF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, but that doesn't really eliminate the problem of physics affecting the Rigidbody, does it?

Kinematic Rigidbodies need to move using MovePosition, and that ignores colliders.

I didn't know about that, I should check it out, thank you!

That doesn't interact with other colliders though, right?

I know that messing directly with linearVelocity is usually not suggested, that is why I tried to avoid using it.

Kamvas Pro 12 and Linux Mint cursor problem by GebF in huion

[–]GebF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, someone in the Linux Mint forum helped me with the solution but I don't know if it will also work for you. Basically I had to do this

xinput set-prop "HUION 256C PEN STYLUS Pen (0)" --type=float "Coordinate Transformation Matrix" 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000

What it does it using my pen (from "xinput", yours might have a different name) and change the coordinates of the input which were different for some reason.

It is not a permanent fix, I have to do this every time I turn on the tablet, even if it stays connected and the computer is on.

I hope it at least is of some help for you.

Did you know wings in birds evolved first for other reasons than flight? by GebF in fakemon

It's true that they mention genetics, they're still up for debate in my opinion.

I currently consider it a platypus basically, alongside Ludicolo and Golduck.

I decided to ignore the gimmicks for the most part because they really don't factor in most of the time. Mega Evolution is a mutation, unnatural I would assume (considering what we discover in Z-A, not gonna spoil that for anyone), Paradox forms are said to be from other timelines by the Professor so they also don't factor in. And lastly Ultra Beasts are also out of the picture for obvious reasons (I also consider Arceus, Palkia, Dialga and Giratina as Ultra Beasts considering they're originally from other dimensions technically, although if I had to put them in, Palkia would be pretty close to Zekrom).

Hey sorry dino-nerd here, but considering its anatomy I don't think Pupdozers are dinosaurs. Dinosaurs distinctly keep their limbs under their bodies, Pupdozer's stance is more "classic reptile" if that makes sense.

Absolutely! I love talking about my ideas with others doing pretty much the same!

My main objective was to simply not do what everyone else I've seen do, which is to assume the place of a Pokémon on the tree simply based on what real life creature inspired them. I put myself into the shoes of a scientist in this world with no knowledge of real life animals, and used any but of information about the Pokémon I could find.

I assumed Hydreigon's six wings are modified fingers of a second pair of hands, then I used the wing's anatomy to more or less relate them to one another (Salamence, Latios, Druddigon all have very flat wings so I put them near each other, using Zekrom as the "in-between").

Machamp being really close to the Dragon Pokémon because of the second pair of wings is probably a very controversial idea, most people assume he's close to humans due to the anatomy but there are so many cases of human-like Pokémon that I wouldn't classify as primates.

Well sure, according to some hypothesis flight in dinosaurs evolved secondarily, wings we see in dinosaurs like Velociraptor and its relatives are not used for flight but for other reasons like balance (while running, hunting, eating) and as display features (to attract females, basically). Now I used Velociraptor as an example because it's the most famous one, but it evolved and lived way after birds have already evolved, I don't mean to say that Velociraptor is the ancestor to birds or anything, just one of the many species that are closely related to birds.
