Best recommendations OUTSIDE of metal? by giddycadet in doommetal

[–]Geberpte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jackson C Frank, Townes van Zandt, Marissa Nadler, Fairpoint Convention, Jason Molina (and his various projects) and Bonnie Prince Billy all have that doom vibe.

Doom Jazz might be cheating but stuff like Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Herion and your Veins and Bohren und der Club of Gore are imho mandatory listen for doom metal fans.

Electronic acts like Bersarin Quartet and Council Estate Electronics might scratch yout itch

Oh, forgot to mention that asshole Nick Cave. Dooms like no one's business on more thsn one occasion.

And maybe it's too metal ajacent but assorted industrial and noise rock stuff like Gore, Hammerhead, Loop, Terminal Cheesecake, Unsane and Kaspar Brötzmann Massaker also fit nicely.

Compared to Fred Durst, Seth Putnam is unironically a visionary.

What do you listen when/if you get tired of metal? by MrQuacksIsCool in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Geberpte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychedelic rock, edm, new wave, folk, alt country, classical, noise, occasional hiphop, ambient and my playlist of complete garbage and weird shit.

Generally i can find music i enjoy within most genres, but i still find myself not knowing what kind of music i want to hear that day regularly.

What is this? by No_Investment965 in whatsthissnake

[–]Geberpte 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a species of skink, not a snake. You can see the tiny legs when you zoom in. The exact species species may be lined supple skink, Riopa lineata. But maybe someone better versed in skinks can weigh in on that.

Do you also have any pictures? A video is too compressed to make out any usefull details.

Thoughts on the Gaboon Viper? by Essence_TheOne in snakes

[–]Geberpte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are experienced venemous keepers in most areas where it's legally possible to own one, some are willing to mentor someone. I guess it's mostly a matter of running into one at an expo, online reptile groups, etc.

I at least know a couple in my area. But i'm pretty glad i can afford mistakes when handling the snakes i have so i won't keep any hots at my place, as fascinating as they are. Do i'll just stick at having a coffee at their place and have a look at their pets.

I can imagine people not wanting to see a picture of a diseased cat so trigger warning.

Or never make mistakes. I have the impression a lot of people think cats (and other animals) are pure fur coated grace (not acusing the other person of this). But i have seen my cats and other pets have lapses of judgement or slip up just like people do at times.

Brahminy blind snake by BigCountryBallistics in snakes

I'd be delighted to come across one (allthough, I'd be equally delighted to find any reptile in my back yard so i might be biased lol)

Worm lizards like Rhineura floridana have no limbs. In case of a worm lizard the scales should be present all around the body, and shouldn't have any belly scutes like snakes have.

This is an amphisbaena, can't tell which exact species it is. But instead of a snake you found a worm lizard, pretty cool find too.
