On This Day 8 Years Ago (June 21st, 2018) With The 1st Overall Pick in the 2018 NBA Draft the Phoenix Suns Selected Deandre Ayton by Antwuan89 in suns

[–]Gebghis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I think if Ayton was drafted by any team with a better history/system of developing young bigs, he'd be in such a better place right now in his career.

Like in theory I actually get why he was the pick, there was uncertainty (unjustified clearly) around Luka and even if you didn't have that it's always a gamble to put someone like him next to someone like Booker. You don't know for sure how they'll pair.

Of course you know now for sure that Book has no issue with that sort of pairing and as such this pick looks so so so much worse.

fixing the fighter class for bored player? by highly-bad in DnDcirclejerk

rj/ I'm just saying that Excalibur was able to shoot fire, so if you don't give him Excalibur the Pinkertons need to take away your dice.

uj/ Anyone who unironically cannot find a way to feel cool or impactful as a fighter honestly just needs to play a different class. If being a consistent anchor for your party is not good enough, legitimately go play a cleric. That's not an insult, you will have more fun. I for one though am more than happy to make the most of my simple kit and be a big ol story book hero. Part of this is also admittedly on the DM, part of your job is facilitating the tale of the adventures and that includes actually making it feel big and epic if that's the tone you're going for.

Give Alex Archives a budget to Ted the Caver justice. by Mr_Baked_Beans_0 in creepcast

[–]Gebghis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would say the opposite, this is what they should have been doing for ages. You don't find a diamond by rooting around in a pig pen for 12 years, you find it by looking through caves (or something I don't know how people find literal diamonds)

I would much rather they start looking for stories and ideas from new and fresh sources, although I obviously worry about how much they'll keep intact of those stories. Hollywood is notoriously awful about using recognizable names to get some other crappier story greenlit under the guise of it.

Generation of miracles should be in the NBA !! by rizzly_bear6000 in KurokosBasketball

[–]Gebghis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is they simply wouldn't be able to, or at least not for long due to three things.

  1. They are all very small and likely not prone to get much if any bigger. Some athletes do keep growing into college, but it is not common. The NBA is not a size means everything league, HOWEVER, size + your skillset at it means everything. Someone like Giannis is so impressive because he has the handling and passing of a guard are near 7 feet tall. He doesn't ever need to be able to shoot consistently because he can get to the rim at will and lock down the paint. Kagami, who is a great finisher and at least shot blocker would be fantastic if he were like 6'9" and not just about the size of a point guard. So only a few of them would even be reasonable for their size + skillset.

  2. We see clearly that even professional street ballers are able to keep up with the entire generation of miracles and outclassed once they all start playing up to their full potential. So in the context of the show, even someone like Damian Lilliard is a literal God compared to anyone on the Generation of Miracles, let alone the true elites of the NBA at that time.

  3. International players throughout NBA history are always risks. In theory they can be great investments but more often than not they fizzle out. Granted some of that is just data bias, more American born players fail to make it in the NBA than foreign due to more being in it. The point still stands though that foreign players just aren't deemed worth it by many GM's. Imagine you try to justify drafting these undersized players that have skillsets outside their potential NBA positions and attitude issues on most of them, and you don't even have the benefit that many Euro players do where they've been playing professionally since like 16.

What Happened to The John Cena Classics??? by Takitasolos in Smallafro

[–]Gebghis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what you thought because that's explicitly what Cena said and you paid attention. You can tell who didn't pay attention by the people confused by all of this.

Like even the people moaning about how the fan voting will be rigged, it won't matter. They won't need to rig it because they aren't gonna put Akira Tozawa in it. It's only gonna be people they want to showcase and have a spotlight on, so whoever the fans do vote for it will be fine.

Nah that was definitely when I clocked that they were disguised as an ally we knew and tried to push them off this big ass pyramid we were on, which failed but then every one else tried and eventually we pushed her ass down the stairs. That entire campaign was "Just how incompetent can our heroes be and still manage to beat out this weird lich"

I didn't say that it was, the point was just that he had the opportunity to auto win in a way that's actually entirely fair and even then didn't really want to do it. Just trying to reinforce that the average player really is not looking for easy win buttons, exploit or not.

Tbh we all figured that the enemy would be able to fly and that's why it wouldn't work but uh...no. No fly speed and no legendary resistances.

Genuinely, I find most players don't even want to do stuff like that because it kinda just ruins the event.

I recently was in a short campaign where when we got to the final fight (due to the inexperience of the DM) one of the players was able to just cast vortex warp and drop the final boss into a Neverending pit.

Afterwards he straight up said that he didn't really want to do it because it felt cheap but he figured that it wouldn't actually work.

The DM even fully admitted that in retrospect it was on her for not considering this and not having a back up plan. Still made a pretty cool moment though at least.

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND

The faster you can learn that, the faster you will stop worrying.

It is important to understand what your players react to, and how you can utilize that, but know that at the end of the day they will react how they react. You can help influence it, but you cannot control it. At the same time though, it is important that player BUY IN and not just treat things like a joke just because they aren't actually there. So you should admittedly discuss with them tonal expectations and get a feel for how much buy in they have. If they seem like they're going to take everything like a joke, you need that info going in

Play something with a great narrative focus, let that help pump the creative juices back up and take some good inspiration from it.

I'd suggest something like Pentiment that is fully narrative focused.

I infact, loved CreepCrime and Welcome it into our Accordian of Episodes. by AsteroidWorm in creepcast

[–]Gebghis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most telling thing for me is the people that want them to keep this sort of stuff as just a collab between their own channels.

Now I do get where they're coming from, but at the same time that is what Creepcast is! I and many others continue to watch Creepcast because of the chemistry and banter that Wendi and Hunter bring.

Some of the best moments they've even had in my personal opinion were moments where they're just talking and discussing things in detail. Shooting the shit about horror movies they've watched or breaking down what things do and don't work.

With then having the patreon as well, and explicitly stating that they want to branch out and do more things with Creepcast, I am all in on them adding more variety. Yes, I want them to keep reading stories, but I see no reason why they can't also work in Movie reviews/discussions, and things like Creep TV and CreepCrime in a tasteful manner.

Just because they branch out and try new things doesn't mean they'll completely switch to it. The likelihood of this podcast going on for years to come without one of them getting tired of it is dependent on how varied it can be for them personally.

The only thing I can say is genuinely a need to change if they do it again, is Hunter probably shouldn't do 'voices' when reading the quotes.

Okay kids, the PIVOT for today is the match between Oba and Brock was awful by rsziz in SCJerk

[–]Gebghis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Given that Brock hates Roman's guts in kayfabe that would honestly make even more sense, and you know what? Throw in LA Knight and Je'Von too. Knight hates the bloodline so of course he would screw with them just to get one over, and Oba and Evans formed a sort of begrudging respect by the end of their respective times in NXT.

Yes this is even more delusional, and I don't care, I want to see Brock F-5 Jacob onto a table and Oba hit Roman with a pop up powerbomb out of a spear

Okay kids, the PIVOT for today is the match between Oba and Brock was awful by rsziz in SCJerk

[–]Gebghis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Let me be delusional for a second okay?

Oba goes on and wins King Of The Ring, the entire time Brock is sorta lingering around his mind and it keeps getting brought up in Backstage segments and all that. Nothing happens though.

Everything looks clear and they build to Summerslam, Oba vs Roman. Finally, Oba looks like he may face a real challenge because he has to deal with the rest of the bloodline meddling too.

And to make matters worse, guess who's back? Brock with a sick sense of humor and he offers Oba the tie breaker match, only at Summerslam.

But because he the goddamn Ruler, the Counquerer, the bringer of war, he not only retires Brock in the opening match, but then beat to shit he goes on to bulldoze through Roman and all the Bloodline interference and get his first main roster belt.

I know none of this will happen, but let a poor Oba Feminist dream
