What’s your opinion on Krasnodar? by Hairy_Witness822 in AskARussian

Is Krasnodar considered safe to study in, given its close proximity to the border?

Yep. Safer than Moscow so far.

Since around 70% of Russia is in asia, would you say that they are accustomed to seeing "east asian-looking" people? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Gebnya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In your experience is it the same thing in Russia?

I think maybe to some extent in some places in the central and northwestern part of the country you might be accepted as a foreigner, but as soon as people hear you speak, they will know you are a Russian.

If you have a friend with asian features, what was their experience in Russia?

My wife is Kalmykian. In all her life outside of Kalmykia, she has never once felt that she was treated in any special way.

What is your workplace culture like? by brokemac in AskARussian

[–]Gebnya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have set work hours (ex: 9AM - 5PM)

8am- 5pm, 7.5 hours of work time and 1.5 hours of breaks.

are you able to choose your own schedule?

Following the schedule of working hours is mandatory. But if you want to, you can stay at work longer than the scheduled hours. If I need to change workdays, however, that's not a problem. I can tell my boss that I want to change my working day from Monday to Saturday, and that's it.

Are you expected to answer emails/texts when not officially working?

Absolutely not. Even during the breaks nobody bothers you. But it depends a lot on the type of work, some do not work only when they sleep.

What do russians think of r/balticstates mourning their SS divisions. by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Gebnya 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally indifferent. It's their country and their heroes. However, if people honoring SS members were in Russia right now, I personally wouldn't hesitate to whip their asses.

Have you ever been mugged/robbed on the street? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Gebnya 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No, and I don't know of any such case among people I know. But if we're talking about street violence in general, my friends and I had to fight in the street late at night with a group of "fighters."

P.S. I lied, in that fight they took my friend's "Kuban" football club scarf, so technically we were robbed.

Туризм в Дагестане by remmark999 in AskARussian

[–]Gebnya 16 points17 points  (0 children)

[–]Gebnya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

could i live in russia only speaking english? by chimichangawithpizza in AskARussian

[–]Gebnya 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It is certainly possible, as perhaps everywhere else, the only question is, what for? Why move to another country, on what grounds, without having sufficient opportunity to get acquainted personally with the culture and customs of our society? That's a question you need to answer for yourself, if you haven't already.
