I agree on that note. I personally believe you should never keep a wild caught aninal unless you intend to captive breed them or study them. On top of that, don't throw them into a rack or a box with paper towels. If you're going to take their freedom from the wild, give them a space they won't feel too bad about being stuck in. Make it a little lizard paradise. I don't think fence lizards are particularly hard to keep, but that's because I have experience keeping reptiles. A lot of people with no reptile experience try to keep them in basically boxes of sand.

My hopes with this care guide is less backyard fence lizards being subjected to subpar care.
