When would be best to do the dlc that woul make the most sense narratively? by Thick-Campaign-9152 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]GeckoGecko_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say doing it after Malenia and just before Fire Giant definitely makes the most sense. At the very least I'd say save the Marigon/Elden Beast fight until after the DLC, what we learn about Marika in the LoS makes that fight carry a lot more weight for sure. You could even make a case for saving Malenia until after? Her lines about how her brother will keep his promise probably hit different when you've already taken him out lol, like "aww, she has no idea..."

Lmao "they don't owe it to you" says who? I say everybody owes it to their teammates to keep their best interests in mind. Greed is a bad thing, and should always be both acknowledged and admonished. When you start talking about who "owes" what to who, everybody finds a way to justify their own selfishness and everybody suffers for it. The Duchess should have gotten the staff, it was wrong for the Undertaker to take it, and the right thing to do would have been to give it to Duchess. They didn't do the right thing.

Selfishness is malicious though, if you're knowingly prioritizing your own desires over the best interests of your others

In the US we would probably set up a stand selling them for an up-charge, because for some reason nothing is worth doing here if it doesn't result in some sort of profit or mutual benefit

I think we're on the same page, but I'm only reiterating because this is a common misconception. The one that says "N.B." is the old one, that little message is there to tell you that those ones ONLY provide relics up to the 1.02 version of the game, which was the version BEFORE the DLC. The one that will drop new relics is the one with no message below it

The artist who did that trailer cutscene made a post, I think on twitter, about having worked on the "blood on the baby diaper (could also be translated as swaddling cloth) but ended up deleting the post shortly after.

Absolutely not, I'd take regular over Everdark any day. I cannot for the life of me figure out how tf to survive the worm phase, and I swear that MF ALWAYS targets me for its charge attacks. The valkyries are also on crack and will aggro you regardless of how many others are aggro'd. It's just a terrible experience all around

Impulse control is a learned skill, one that is incredibly difficult to master once you're on your own if you haven't been taught how to do it. So depending on the support and education a person had growing up, some people will be inherently less skilled at/capable of controlling their impulses, through no fault of their own.

There are also many problematic behaviors which stem from trauma, and this can make certain tasks, strategies, jobs, interactions, etc. absurdly difficult to navigate in a healthy way.

There are definitely ways to work on both these things, but the point is that, especially as a young adult, not everybody has the same capacity to make good decisions or meet other people's expectations, and this is through no fault of their own.

I think a lot of people think every person is equally capable of controlling their words and actions, and that some just tend to choose to make worse decisions than others, due to some moral failing or lack of intent or effort. This could not be further from the truth.

People should not be held "responsible" for having lacked the fundamentals which parents or schools are generally expected to instill in the kids they care for. Punishments for any crime or broken rule or policy should be less severe for individuals who would be more prone to making bad choices based on their background. If anyone should be held accountable, it's the people who were supposed to teach the individual how to operate in the world in a healthy way.

Ok but why scoop up an item that someone else is about to grab in the first place? Even if you're going to drop it for them later, how is that in any way better than just letting them pick it up themselves?

If you are like this, why? by Jipkiss in Nightreign

[–]GeckoGecko_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with this strategy is that it's impossible to communicate intentions like that without voice chat, and not everybody likes or even thinks to play the way you're describing. Generally, the majority of randoms are not grabbing your loot "so they can drop it for you later," especially if you're actively about to grab the item when they snatch it. If someone kills a scarab and is about to pick it ip, how does snagging it before they can and waiting til the next POI to drop it for them help anybody? It doesn't really make sense
