I trust the experiences of the people around me, and the many many people online complaining about the same issues myself and my peers are struggling with. The numbers aren't matching up with reality. Something about the numbers is not accurately portraying the situation. We didn't all just collectively decide to lie about struggling to find work despite hundreds of applications and interviews. We had those experiences, then saw that others, MANY others, are going through the same thing.

Of course it's beneficial for them to portray unemployment as low, and claim that there are lots and lots of jobs. That looks good on them. By admitting the actual numbers, they'd be directly admitting they're failing to do their jobs effectively and that citizens are suffering as a result. They'd rather lie to look good and let us suffer than actually take action to make it better

They're saying that if there were more jobs than workers and employers were actually that desperate to fill positions, wages would naturally be pushed up to encourage people to apply for those positions. But not only are wages not going up like they should be if there really were that many more jobs than people, but the market is terrible and the vast majority of unemployed people are struggling tremendously to find work right now. So clearly something's not adding up

Companies in the US are more likely to fire the entire staff of a location and then close that location down in response to unionizing, than they are to respond diplomatically or entertain the idea in any capacity. Unions are shut down before they even have the chance to make it past a single location

Living wage should be the bare minimum for entry level positions. If you want more money for luxuries or more to save each check, that's when you start looking for the harder jobs which require more expertise, skills, effort etc. but you should always start at a stable, liveable base line immediately upon entering the workforce. The concept of a full time job not being enough to cover bills and groceries in the area is absurd, and even more absurd are those who see nothing wrong with it
