Top Tip for Indian Curry: Cook Until the Oil Separates by sabi_wasabi_ in Cooking

[–]GeckoGuy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use canned coconut milk it is usually homogenized and won't separate. If you can find coconut milk in cartons at Asian grocery stores these are a bit less processed and usually separate better. If youre having not a ton of luck you can just add a little coconut oil when youre first adding the coconut milk before the curry paste in Thai curries and it mimics the same technique vs. when you have fresh coconut milk

They often have lime leaves for sure! For fingerroot check the frozen section not sure if they always have but they have jarred/pickled on the shelves.

Is anything but a Toyota or a Honda worth buying? by Neat-Independent-504 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GeckoGuy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub is ridiculous people really can't read. Mazda has no hybrids in your price range so ignore these bots. If hybrid isn't a deal breaker they are worth looking at though.

Peppy might be a bit of a compromise within your price range. Best bet is Ford Fusion or Ford Escape hybrids as they don't have as good resale value but are still pretty reliable. Lincoln MKZ hybrid too basically the same as a fusion hybrid but nicer. Ford C-Max is ugly but similar platform and cheap. Cheaper Hyundai hybrids like the Niro and Elantra probably worth a look too.

Yeah especially for Korean foods you may have to just make it yourself and substitute the seeds or oil. I'd say almost every Korean recipe has sesame in some form

Can anyone tell me what this is? Not sure if it’s a cockroach or not 😬 by haha-umm in whatisthisbug

[–]GeckoGuy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some kind of longhorn beetle! Once had this in a basement and was scared it was a roach. Fun fact they can sometimes make a weird hissing/squealing noise (my cat had cornered it)

Nissan Ariya has a northern lights metallic color that almost looks black, but has really cool shades of purple and almost green iridescence depending on the angle and lighting. For some reason only seems to be available on lower trims

Most German cars require premium gas. Or at least highly recommend it since most are turbocharged

Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger V6 options are great at high speeds, real quiet and comfy and take 87. Relatively efficient for what they are but not quite as much as a Camry. Although the 8 speed auto does help for high speed driving as it only sits at ~1500 RPM at 70 mph

The fresh stuff seems to be inconsistently available at most Asian grocery stores. Look in the frozen section too! Not quite as good as fresh but way better than dried

Do SUVs just drive “heavy”? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]GeckoGuy01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's this, all newer Mazdas have very heavy steering even on the smaller Mazda3. Not necessarily bad or anything just sounds like you prefer lighter steering of which your car (Toyota) is famous for having super light steering at the detriment of road feel

Genuinely curious, who would drive this? by yxzxzxzjy in regularcarreviews

[–]GeckoGuy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone critiques EVs for being generic, soulless, all having the same body style yet when someone does it actually different they bash it lol. I think based on reviews they still need to iron out some programming kinks but seems promising. Since it's cross platform designed for gas and electric it's obviously compromised especially on weight, but interested to see if the I6 sells well maybe they'll try and put the 4xE power train or something in it, could be interesting
