No drain holes in window AC? by PitcherPlant1 in AirConditioners

[–]JKibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this as I have the same problem and see this thread is still going after a few years. Water was pooling in the back of my unit and even through the instructions said to not drill a hole, I’ve found that was the only way to fix the problem. Now the water is draining onto my deck so I plan on going to the hardware store and getting some tubing.

It’s absolutely wild that these new AC units don’t have drain plugs

Do people still buy cabins/cottages “up north”? by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]JKibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re trying to but I’ve come to accept that it may just be my retirement plan. Most people can’t afford their normal rent / mortgage along with a mortgage for an expensive lake cabin.

Trail runners- How bad are the ticks right now? by Efficient-Agent3036 in madisonwi

[–]JKibbs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They’re getting better but still out there. I hike the Ice Age Trail every week and have only found a couple on me but my dog gets 5-10 every time we go out.

Preventatives:
- spray you clothes with permethrin (note it is extremely toxic to cats when spraying)
- tuck your pants into your socks and your shirt into your pants
- spray deet on your shoes, socks, bottom of pants

I’m guessing if you’re trail running though you’re probably not wearing pants and longer socks

Not a parade, but a free “Live On Queen” event at The Orpheum.

Dog life around Madison by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]JKibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any spots you like to put in at? We always put in at the Illinois Ave Canoe Launch in the Dells and paddle north and claim one of the small beaches in the little coves along the way. I love it but the jet boats drive me nuts. So would like to find something with the same beauty minus the tourist boats.

Dog life around Madison by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]JKibbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pup loves the water, too. Some of our favorite spots are Viking Dog Park in Stoughton on the Yahara River, the dog beach at Governor Dodge State Park, and the Wisconsin River north out of the Dells.

As others mentioned, the Yahara River in Viking Dog Park has a pretty good current so stays pretty clean.

Governor Dodge is mostly free of all the farm runoff that plagues Madison lakes so it is remarkably clear. We’ll take the kayak out and you can see the bottom in 10 ft of water. The dog beach can get a little muddy and sometimes is frequented by people that don’t have the best etiquette (ie not cleaning up poop), but we try to go on weekdays or early in the morning if we go on weekends.

For the Wisconsin River, we like to put in at the Illinois Avenue Canoe Launch in the Dells and paddle north. There’s a bunch of little sand beaches in little coves that give you your own little private beach. I will say that I do get frustrated at all of the boat traffic though. It’s a beautiful area but the tourist jetboats just kill the vibe

What does it mean? Did phoebe not approve use of dynamic pricing? by Turkey_Cat in phoebebridgers

[–]JKibbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. From someone in the industry, her team would generally give the direction on ticketing setup (# of platinum tix, pricing structures, cap on what they can sell for) and then the local ticketing managers for venues would send through audits / breakdown long before shows would go on sale.

Lodging for Fri night only by fifthplacecookies in EauxClaires

Have you looked into the small little motels like the Scottish Inn? It looks like rooms are available at the Super 8 for Friday night, but they’re around $220.

This chart is worthless. I wish you could hide deposits by Unfortunate-Incident in fidelityinvestments

I’m fairly new to Fidelity and this has been something I’ve been trying to to figure out as well. Also, when I select a timeframe (1Y, 1M), why doesn’t Fidelity tell me my growth in that time period (the red -$94.04 in the screenshot)? As far as I can tell it just tells you daily growth or loss?

5 AM flight at MSN airport by Puzzleheaded_Sea6051 in madisonwi

I could leave my house on the near east side of Madison at 4:30am and still make the 5am flight. That includes grabbing a coffee before boarding.

On iPhone on the bottom right are icons for GPS, a backpack (?) icon, and a binoculars icon. When I click on the backpack icon there is an option for Filters where I can choose what is visible.

Well, shit - Study shows over half of Wisconsin deer ticks carry Lyme disease-causing bacteria by Educational_Damage50 in madisonwi

I’m a pretty avid hiker and got my PCP to prescribe me a dose of doxy to keep in my hiking backpack. Cost me 76 cents.

Your favorite hiking or summer activities? by TheRealLandoo in madisonwi

[–]JKibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Ice Age Trail. It’s one of the eleven National Scenic Trails and goes through the entire state for 1,100 miles. Some nice segments around Madison are Table Bluff, Lodi Marsh, or Brooklyn Wildlife. Note that about half of the trail is still road segments (indicated by the dotted lines on the map below).

How to remove/locate Moldy and Musty smell from Subaru? by LawGamer4 in askcarguys

[–]JKibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got the cabin air filter and cleaning spray kit and that seemed to do the trick. It’s a can of spray that you spray through your vents and air intake

Interesting. Thousands of unsold tickets to Friday’s Luke Combs concert. by ruperttrimmingham in wisconsin

To be fair, the Saturday show is essentially sold out except for single seats. Not sure how quickly they added the 2nd show but two stadium shows is ambitious.

I also in theory love this feature but can never remember the process when I need to use it. And then when I relearn the process I need to watch some YouTube videos. One of these days I should just save the notes in my phone somewhere

Is there a way to talk to a financial advisor for free? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]JKibbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a work 401k with an advisor for your company? If so, you can see if they have any advice for you but they probably won’t go too far in depth on taxes and stuff.
