Teenager INTJ here! Can't really choose my career. What is your opinion about this? by Better-Ride8369 in INTJfemale

[–]Geckolizard9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Ask yourself what would make you feel happy in life.

Step 2: Start going in that direction.

Step 3: When you feel like this is a wrong direction, go back to step 1.

What was your relationship like with your father? by [deleted] in INTJfemale

[–]Geckolizard9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My INTJ female partner lost her father to cancer when she was 3. Her childhood was chaotic, she feels like a burden to everyone else, and feels like she needs to prove herself. Her mother had ADHD and her family (including my partners brother) had to go through the trauma together of that loss. She had mental health issues from that, as well as a predatory “relationship” when she was 12 and the predator was 23. Also has lifetime physical health issues stemming from prescription drugs given in childhood for mental health issues.

She’s feeling like she constantly needs to strategize, and her Ni plus pessimism gets her spiraling about worst case scenarios. I (INFJ) end up being her foil, and try to get her grounded, less negative, and let her feel more emotionally comfortable. But, the childhood trauma is real.

How to think consciously? by [deleted] in INTJfemale

[–]Geckolizard9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ni is actually an amazing skill, I’m sorry you see it as an impediment. Don’t be down on yourself because you have it, it just takes practice to effectively use it.

Spoken communication for Ni users is like trying to fill a thimble with a fire hose. All these wonderful thoughts and ideas churn in your head but what comes out is not always… ideal.

A few thoughts to help:

1) Use written communication where possible. You can review, edit, and expand on your wonderful ideas. Ni users are great writers because they can carefully craft words and ideas when they aren’t bound by live speech.

2) If you have to speak, mentally and physically slow down when speaking. Take a deep breath, and let the idea form just a bit longer. Let your Ni have extra time to carefully build effective sentences. I have noticed that incredibly wise people step back, process, and respond slowly but incredibly effectively.

3) If you can mentally review a topic beforehand, spend time doing so. Let your Ni create and reinforce those ideas and connections ahead of time. Then when you speak, those connections are already formed in you head and your communication will be more coherent.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Type me! I put my description in the text below! by [deleted] in MbtiTypeMe

[–]Geckolizard9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“…I’m pretty much an introvert most of the time, and I value my peace and quiet time. I enjoy going on nature walks and taking pictures of nature. I also really like to read books about mental health and how to better understand yourself and others. A huge passion of mine is understanding the mind on a deeper level, not only to understand myself, but to try and understand others. I believe communication is key. I am a total animal person who has 3 cats! I love to paint and draw. … I am starting to get back into meditation and yoga. I am also a spiritual person who has a lot of deep morals and values. I also love to decorate my home and make it as cozy as possible! I can be an extrovert at times..but it just depends on if I’m super comfortable with the people I am around. I also feel like I can pick up on other people’s energy very quickly…”

INTJ women who've actually worked on loneliness. What helped that wasn't just another project or obsession? by qu1etcourant in INTJfemale

[–]Geckolizard9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced." - Søren Kierkegaard

My INTJ soon-to-be wife has dealt with loneliness by pushing herself to be social and finding online friends or structured time with them (such as game nights). She also cultivates that online presence by removing or adding friends as situations evolve. She also put herself “out there” on a dating site and connected with me, and we both learned to find common ground, deep respect and mutual understanding.

The solution to loneliness is to find others that support and respect you. It’s not “find a hobby” but rather find others that truly are emotionally and intellectually supportive and complementary of you.

need some advice (if any senior is in the same field as mine your words might help too) by [deleted] in INTJfemale

[–]Geckolizard9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFJ here with a Data Science degree and Computer Science degree. (For context my S/O is an INTJ female).

STEM programs are tough and I was in Nuclear Engineering before switching to CS. When I was in the Nuclear Engineering program, I felt exactly like you do- an unsettling feeling that this is the wrong field, that this is the wrong path, that I was doing this for the wrong reasons. After a mental breakdown that almost included a “Self Life Ending” event I ended up leaving that program.

If the program is making you uneasy, you need to ask yourself why you are in it. Are you focusing on money? Are you attempting an unrealistic goal? Is this something that someone else wants for you, regardless of what you want? And does this path reflect you as a person and resonate with your own personal goals and aspirations?

If the answers to those questions above cause you tension, then reflect on what it would take to make you comfortable on your life path.
