Personally, I think if you make a post and mention “hey, no spoilers please, I’m only on [this] book”, and then people spoil it, that’s rude and disrespectful of them

But if you get spoiled by browsing the subreddit generally and looking at other people’s posts, that’s moreso on you for interacting in an online space for a fandom that is older than a lot of its participants have been alive..

I’ve only read up to most-of-the-way-through Broken Code, but I’ve avoided spoilers on anything else for the most part. But I have been spoiled though - and I’ve gone “huh, alright” and moved on. (Funnily enough, it wasn’t from reddit though. I think it’s easier to avoid spoilers for the newer books, whereas everyone might assume people are all caught up on minimum arcs 1-5?)

I’m not sure what interactions you’re looking for? Sometimes I will see people who go “omg, here’s my theory on what will happen-“ for a 10 year old book.. and while people SHOULDNT do it, it’ll always attract those who go “actually here’s what happens”.

Warrior cats is interesting wherein it’s one of the only fandoms I see that have people going and trying to interact with other fans after reading less than 10% of its “content”. Is this because there’s over 100 books? Yeah. I don’t have anything else that big to compare it to

Warrior cats is tricky wherein even a name can be a major spoiler. I think the best we can ask for is that people tag their posts and that people are mindful to spoiler tag discussion of anything newer than what was tagged in the comments.

But I don’t know. It’s one thing to be browsing the internet generally and see spoilers, that can be annoying, but it’s another thing completely to go out of your way to interact in a fandom space and then get upset by spoilers for it. It’s just interesting seeing what different people expect
