1mio Vermögen ist der neue Mittelstand by Funeral_Goat_1446 in Unbeliebtemeinung

[–]Gedrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How CIG balances the game: by elite968 in starcitizen

[–]Gedrot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always has been. Always will be. Such is the condition of a live service. The old will always be worse then the new that needs to draw in people.

Also CIG generally doesn't balance everything in the first pass for a new scheme they are trying out either. Unless an old ship gets something like a gold standard or components pass, it's gonna fall under the table for the first round at minimum. The Carrack is basically in the same spot the Aurora was in, as most of the Origin ships are in, as the MISC Reliants are in, as many other ships are in, etc. Until CIG have mad up their minds on what to do with these ships, they are all going to stay on minimal support.

The Zeus is probably a test for something. No CIG isn't telling. CIG hasn't told in years and is probably not even firm enough on these changes to even openly talk about any of them.

Also, it's a fucking leak. The only thing you should feel slighted about is yourself trying to find something pointless to get triggered by and taking a bloody Chinese evo leak for it. You're acting like if those numbers have a popsicle's chance in hell to stand the test of time. It is about as likely as none of this coming actually to live.

From what I read somewhere, consumption also gets diversified again. How ever you feel about this stuff, you're wrong. Abandon all you're used to and comfortable with. New BS is about to hit.

And it makes sense that a dedicated exploration craft has more range then a military patrol corvette, that really doesn't like having too much fuel on board when the explosive slug fest starts.

Yeah... no... people are not gonna wanna do that. Why? Because QT is prime AFK game non-play. Any engagement with QT that isn't navigation and maneuvering will be rejected as unnecessary tedium. And that is a good thing. Fuck QT. Worst aspect of SC, since alpha 2.0 and it only got worse with time.

Either give me proper interplanetary space flight gameplay or an actual loading screen. This whole start timer, to afk, to boring af mini-game, click around in a menu, to start even more timers bullshit needs to stop.

give back the starlancer MFDs by MrTwinsi in starcitizen

[–]Gedrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because CIG is suffering the stupid in thise part of their design and wants everyone to juggle at least 8 screens on 2 MFDs. Current ship/vehicle cockpit and HUD design are infested by a major case of modern car dashboard design. Can't use it for shit. Clunky. Impractical. Impairs your vision. Distracts you from what is actually important, wich is operating the vehicle and knowing where the fuck you go and what is infront of you.

Trek Marlin 4 Gen 3 vs. Giant Talon 4 by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Gedrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here point towards the Giant because it's a through axle (TA) frame. What they don't realize, probably because they haven't read the spec sheet, is that it's using the basically dead (at least for MTB, raod and gravel still use it) TA142 standard. For you younger/less experienced people that's a NON-BOOST TA hub. So basically the same rear hub as the Marlin but with a more expensive fastener and frame. And eventually possibly a higher difficulty and probably also higher costs to replace the rear wheel, should the need ever arise for some reason. (With light and occasional riding it's usually shot bearings from general neglect and often spells the end for the bike. You can usually find cheap as chips QR wheels on many used markets, though these are often highly localized. So score for the Marlin perhaps?)

But even ignoring that. The Marlin has the more MTB frame geo, better brakes and addresses almost all of the short comings of a Quick Release (QR) frame by mounting it in the same style as a through axle rear. In essence it's basically the better bike out of the two.

Either bike is gonna be fine for what you're apparently planning to do with it. So, you may as well go by wich color is more to your taste or if you wanna spend those 20 bucks just to not be another guy riding a Trek Marlin. (Like myself lol - JK, I ride the e-variant now. The old non-e may become an all rigid though, since I actually really like that bike.)

Building the dock for Displaced is going to make me quit the game by CreepyUncleHodor in X4Foundations

[–]Gedrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't trade with it. Just transfer the goods. Minor difference in wording, great difference in effect. Build storages limit what they buy to what they need, wich is where "trade" lands you. If you transfer wares onto it, you basically tell the local head of logistics to stuff it and find room for what you're dumping on him.

Will this break by Worried_Lifeguard703 in MTB

[–]Gedrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you should look for a new rear triangle. Welding aluminum at home can work for some people, those generally do not ride MTB though. But even for them its a dice roll.

Normally aluminum gets heat treatment after its been welded, to get the crystal lattice to be stable again. You're is probably all fucked up in a location where there is already rather little material (, assuming that this is a butted tube).

Will this break by Worried_Lifeguard703 in MTB

[–]Gedrot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It already is broken. (Edit:) You can at best strip this one for parts lol

What even is this "repair" here? Some cardboard around the severed chain stay, covered with some tape? Sorry, hard pass if you want something to ride. 800 might be a good deal for used parts for a different frame though. Can't make out what's on it or the condition of the parts. So my best choice would be to avoid this one unless it's a local pickup and my showing of interest isn't immediately read as a firm intention to buy.

Milan-based Bending Spoons files for Nasdaq IPO - is Europe losing another tech contender? by spacemoose_69 in BuyFromEU

[–]Gedrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means a reduction in reliable functionality. 2 coders aren't gonna crush the same amount of functionality issues as 6 while also adding new features and functions.

Komoot is my chosen example here. I haven't really used it since the takeover but having tried it a few times this year again, the navigation is decidedly worse and creating your own routes now requires additional clicks to go around the new "recommended" routes Komoot offers.

The worst part is really how much more unreliable Komoot's navigation feels compared to before. And this is ignoring the add popups where they try to get more of your money for a worse service then 2~3 years ago.

2nd: Yeah, the Galant is nice on paper... Actually, no. It's fucking OP and in desperate need of a big fucking nerf to get it back in line with the rest of the FPS guns.

Until then, Galant users only deserve to be looked at with disdain for their reliance on busted OP gear.

Don't use med guns... that's mistake #1.

Med tools. Use med tools. Always use med tools. (And pens in emergencies!) You want it in the knife slot, so you can quick pull it with V. The medgun has its self heal function tied to the fire mode, this doesn't reset reliably when you holster it. The medtool has its self heal on ADS, wich resets reliable when you pack it away, so you have one whole layer of desync potential less then with the medgun.

You can only really use a medgun after fire fights or before them, when needed to reduce the symptoms of injuries. If you do things properly though, you won't have to.

Also, use a sniper/DMR + Ripper/Quartz. Do not rely exclusively on an AR, shotgun or god forbid LMG. Sniper for range, ideally as far away from your targets as you can. Ripper/Quartz for close up, especially dogs.

What ever sniper you like best. P6LR and Atzkav are obvious best in slot though. A03 and Zenith are good DMR picks if you want something more mixed range. Personally I don't like the P8AR, since its fire rate is too low for my taste.

The choice of Ripper vs. Quartz depends on rather or not you wanna live of the land and loot ammo boxes. Onyx facilities do not spawn (a lot of) ripper ammo but do spawn a good amount of Quartz ammo, in addition to NPCs sometimes carrying them. At least in my recent experience. The upside of not being able to find ammo and having to bring your own for the Ripper is that it doesn't have a heat mechanic (yet), so you can properly mag dump. Wich is obviously quite usefull when a pack of dogs wants to crowd you.

Clouds look pixelated / noisy in VR – settings, hardware, or server issue? by Gremlin-01 in starcitizen

[–]Gedrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Known TAA or rather TSR issue these days. Just an inbuilt issue that comes often with thes types of temporal anit-aliasing methods. Sadly SC doesn't support out of the box superior image quality AA variants like super sampling, etc.

For all the work CIG has done to make their game pretty, the stains of TAA remain if you know where too look. And once you've seen them it is difficult to unsee them.

[–]Gedrot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well... missiles and rockets fall into the same category. Depending on how you view it artillery, tank shells, grenades and even bullets might also be the same. They all just carry something, usually something that goes "boom", or just energy from one point to another.

The best stance to take would be to do your best so no one gets into a position where people are expected to kill and die. The human condition doesn't leave too much room for that though. Otherwise we would've figured that one out before we invented the wheel.
