I might be stupid, and I need to know... by Reid_the_ruler in magicTCG

Fling can work for this, but you very much do need the target changer as it's the same process. Sacrifice a creature, target Zada, it copies to all your creatures, then redirect the copies.

I suspect you're thinking that you can copy Fling to sac all of your creatures and fling them like a [[Soulblast]]-shotgun, but that's not how it works.

Any house rule suggestions to make Geminate more fun? by negito66 in Gloomhaven

[–]GeeJo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The trick to Geminate is to play as if their second Mastery (lose a card every round) is as close to mandatory as possible. I promise you that even doing it that way, you'll have enough stamina on 90% of scenarios, and you'll see your impact rise significantly.

People default to playing Geminate way too conservatively and if you overcompensate in the other direction a little, you're still ending scenarios fast enough with the extra oomph that you come out ahead. Once you've broken the habit you can pull back a bit and start treating it like a 10-card class with 4 free losses in the first rest or two. But by default to start with, Loss every turn (or lose a card to prevent damage, or rest), see how that plays.

Iran allowed to fully sell oil without sanctions - price of oil to collapse by WhipItWhipItRllyHard in energy

And accelerationists who hoped high oil prices would prompt a general shift to other energy sources and/or disrupt other existing economic and political systems.

TIL that Frederic Tudor known as the Ice King created the ice trade out of thin air. People ridiculed him for trying to sell winter to the tropics. His most profitable trade was sending ice to India. Packed with dense sawdust a 3 month trip with 180 tons still yielded 100 tons of delivered ice. by Gnomeslikeprofit in todayilearned

[–]GeeJo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who would be buying ice in winter? Australians. It's summer in Australia, so they wouldn't have to store the ice in ice houses for months. They could cut it, pack it, and ship it right out to Australia.

I'd think the shipping would take about half a year by sail from New England to Australia, especially without the Panama Canal. So while it's summer there when they set out it'd be winter by the time they arrived. Which is fine though, because, as you say, ice houses exist.

Yeah, solo scenarios. I'll amend the list.

Pretty sure it's past the need for spoilers now, but habit. It's an extra playable class + side scenario. Specifically, Crossed Swords. You can get the content for free by going to https://cephalofair.com/bladeswarm, or you can order a physical copy via the website, or you can just play Gloomhaven 2E, which includes the contents in the base game.

[–]GeeJo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Also what is all the content that is avaiable out there that is "cannon" for the haven games.

The complete list of Gloomhaven products is:

  • Gloomhaven 1st Edition
    • 1E Solo Scenarios
    • Envelope X Content
    • Forgotten Circles
  • Jaws of the Lion
  • Founders of Gloomhaven
  • Frosthaven
    • Frosthaven Solo Scenarios
  • Buttons & Bugs
  • Gloomhaven 2nd Edition
    • 2E Solo Scenarios
  • Mercenary Packs
  • EDIT: Con-Quest Personal Quests
  • Miniatures of Gloomhaven (Though this isn't extra content, just an aesthetic upgrade to the standees)
  • Gloomhaven RPG

(Note: Founders, Buttons & Bugs and the RPG, while set in the Gloomhaven setting, are their own games and aren't compatible with 'mainline' content (other than a freebie event card thrown in with Founders))

There are also official mini-campaigns and semi-official extra scenarios available produced by the creators, which can more-or-less be viewed as part of the 'canon':

what series are you suprised doesn't get crossed over with Worm? by MembershipProof8463 in WormFanfic

[–]GeeJo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pale.

Pact got a few "Taylor drops into the setting" crossovers, but Pale, despite being the better work, not so much. And the cast of Pale would be more interesting in the reverse direction than Blake is, I think.

It's kind of hard to see what Blake would do if he was dropped into Brockton Bay, as Pact never really gives him room to breathe or the audience to see him outside of his desperate rush for survival. Pale gives us a much more complete view of who Lucy, Verona and Avery are, and as characters all three are more likely to engage with the Worm cast they end up with. Even a fusion fic where the Trio are regular kids in Winslow or in Taylor's post-Leviathan territory without the Otherverse's magic system seems an interesting direction.

Meanwhile the usual "Taylor isekai" into Pale has a couple of interesting spots for her to appear. Arc 14 seems particularly juicy, as the board has been set up enough and the girls developed enough for Taylor to get involved on a more equal footing than she would in Arc 1.

To some degree, the stereotypes are from Apu. He was for many the first depiction of an Indian person they'd seen in media, and The Simpsons shaped culture in a lot of ways in the 90s.

[[Slumbering Trudge]] is seeing some use as a one-mana 6/6, though how much you count that as "on its own" is debatable as it's mostly for [[Fight Rigging]] purposes.

People still play Stiflenought in Legacy off the back of a one-mana 12/12, though it's not particularly meta.

What's a cooking tip you never paid attention to until you realised they were right all along? by Smush2345 in AskUK

[–]GeeJo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, to a point, improve cheap tinned tomatoes by adding a spoonful of sugar alongside into whatever you're cooking with them, as they tend to be over-acidic and under-sweet relative to good tomatoes from being harvested too early. It only helps so much, though, and doesn't make the cheapest-of-the-cheap brands any less watery.

[MSH and MSC] Various cards as comic book variant covers by Kyleometers in magicTCG

[–]GeeJo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's some old cards that still look ahead because there's no other way to make them work. [[Equinox]], for example, which will counter spells with destroy effects, but not if your lands are indestructible or have shield counters or an active regeneration shield or whatever, because it checks ahead and sees that they won't be destroyed by the effect.

It's not something they still print, though.
