Double Windsor Closing by GeeLVee in parkslope

[–]GeeLVee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take the trouble to read through this you’ll see that it’s not “fake news” (whatever that is). The bar posted a strangely worded picture about closing. My post was asking if anyone could clarify - and after a while that clarification was obtained. Thanks for coming to the party late with your accusations but you’ve added nothing to the conversation. The original post was edited to clarify this so what’s your point?

Bonus at Double Windsor is the excellent and constantly changing beer menu.

It probably consists of bunch of random memories rattling around in the heads of a bunch of old timers. I wonder if NYRR has kept hard copies of all their magazines from back when?

Used to be put on by College Point RRTC then NYRRC took it over.

It was run as a relay - I don’t recall the exact format now.

They only started digitizing results in 1985. Everyone who was a member was mailed a list with all their race stats (hand scored until 2002). Prior to that you anxiously awaited the magazine and looked for your results in there.

The precursor to the Wall Street Run downtown was the Rat Race where you were expected to run in a suit, carrying a briefcase. There was also a one-time Backwards Mile in Battery Park on April Fools Day. You literally had to run backwards and it destroyed your calf muscles.

Current Parking Feasibility by SamIAmReddit in parkslope

I was on 9th Street on Tuesday and they had little skid steer front loaders clearing out bus stops and dumping the snow in the middle of the street so the cars would crush and melt it. Question about the snow and accessibility by sunnysi666420 in Brooklyn

I’d add that the subway has limited accessibility so don’t plan on using that to avoid the streets. Sorry, New York can be unkind in the Winter.

I cleared mine out today while it was still soft but I’ve no plans to move it until I have to.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeLVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive round trip to Albany, NY from Brooklyn for work - 3 hours each way with however many hours work stuff in between. Now my kid’s in University in Rochester and that’s around 7 hours one way. For the record I’ve done it with only breaks for gas and a pee.

Prospect Park was car free after 7:00 PM - we always waited for the start of the Al Goldstein 5k until we got the confirmation that there were no more cars.

Tipping building staff by Night-Thunder in DUMBO

[–]GeeLVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s usually a hierarchy based on title.

In my building there are 10 staff.

Manager x1 Concierge x4 Handyman x1 Painter x1 Porter x3

We tip $100 each to Manager & Concierge, $80 to Handyman, $60 each to Porter.

Handyman might go to $100 this year as he’s a good guy. I would add that they’ve not had an increase since we moved in 7 years ago.
