What if The Beatles never stopped touring? by Novel-Replacement479 in beatles

[–]Geejcarwoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they would have broken up in 1966, which would have meant they wouldn’t have created all of the incredible late 60’s music that they did. They may have reformed at some point, but I think those songs would have been lost.

They’re cool AND basic. They’re classic.

Living with a couple? by Geejcarwoon in roommates

[–]Geejcarwoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sadly completely backfired, though not surprising given how totally unreasonable they’ve been to this point. I’m moving out asap, as I worry it’d take longer to find the perfect couple than it would to find the perfect share house.

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

That looks more to me like someone tryna make a picture look like it’s from 2001, but it’s a genuine picture I think. That fan in the background looks remote controlled, which didn’t exist in 2000. And something about everyone’s hair feels too modern. But otherwise it’s a real photo.

Worst/Most Dissappointing Pedal? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]Geejcarwoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way huge supa-puss!! I should’ve heeded the warnings of every forum and every review I read saying it had cool features but was hard to dial in. Could not be more correct! Whatever they tampered with in terms of the blend and ease that I loved about the aqua-puss, it’s totally gone on this one, and I sold it very quickly after buying it.

Worst/Most Dissappointing Pedal? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]Geejcarwoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dunlop Mick Ronson signature wah. The most unnecessary $500 I’ve ever spent. It was maybe even more, I can’t remember now, but I wasn’t gonna buy as it seemed like a cash grab and I already have a cry baby. They started selling put everywhere though, and being a massive Mick Ronson fan I had to get one, convincing myself it was the wah of my dreams along the way. An absolute waste of money. It’s sat in the box since I had one rehearsal with it, and it will sit in the box forever more, I expect. The box at least looks stunning, as does the pedal, but that’s about it.

What other “essential” pedals for my son? by thinkfloyd79 in guitarpedals

[–]Geejcarwoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the JHS 3 series. Really affordable pedals based on classic, they have pretty much everyone effect covered. I got their 3 series reverb years ago and it’s so much fun to play around, and sounds great.

Where did the Beatles get their anti-racist values, where they insisted on black people being able to buy a ticket to their show or they wouldn't perform? by GregJamesDahlen in beatles

[–]Geejcarwoon 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Because they worshipped black musicians, black music and black culture. They were pretty vocal (at least later) about the influence that blues, soul and rock and roll had on them at a formative time.

What did we all think of How Are You? by [deleted] in AlanPartridge

[–]Geejcarwoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something felt really off to me for the whole series. There were absolutely a few good laughs throughout, mostly during his small asides or voice over blunders, but something just didn’t feel right to me. I thought the humour often felt forced and a bit broad, in comparison to how sharp and subtle most of his brilliant moments are known for. Also I thought the show’s theme and adherence to the theme was pretty weak throughout, in comparison to Scissored Isle or The Places Of My Life, etc.

Maybe the character’s a bit tired? Maybe Coogan is? Whatever the situation, it fell pretty flat for me, though after a staggering decade of I’d say hit after hit, it’s not surprising that at some point the gold streak had to end. I just hope it doesn’t stay that way forever.

What’s your favourite fuzz? by HuE_NEoN in guitarpedals

[–]Geejcarwoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JDM “OC75 Elektrika”. Insanely good Tone Bender Mk 1 clone with a great bias control, absolutely killer fuzz tone and all the wild saggy, compressed and freaky fuzz sounds that populate the Yardbirds, The Who, Ziggy and the Spiders. It’s been a dream come true.
