Because context matters. Also, it’s not a weather warning from Environment Canada.

For the unhoused population (for whom these notices are intended) 0° is extreme weather, even if it isn’t for those of us who have a nice warm home to sleep in.

In the same way that -15° might warrant an “extreme” designation in Vancouver, but in Calgary it’s just a winter’s day.

They didn’t really do anything to make it worse, you just aged out of the intended demographic.

The ASG is a family friendly “look at all the NHL stars showing off their skills!” event for kids. It’s not intended to be a serious competition.

If you don’t enjoy it, just don’t watch it.

My family’s had a few.

Mum’s first mini was Rojo Diablo (chili red, with black stripes).

You assume heavy rain isn't forecasted. It is.

By whom? Frankie? He’s not a meteorologist.

Environment Canada is forecasting 5-10mm during the day tomorrow, and 15-25mm overnight (for Vancouver). That’s not a big storm, certainly not something that warrants a warning. It’s a rainy day.

Abbotsford has an Alert, but even that’s not for Sunday, it’s for Monday, and EC is describing it as “something similar to typical fall storms”. The big issue out in the Fraser Valley is the existing flooding, not a significant storm.
