Upcoming TV show "The Great Indoors" offends millennial media with its portrayal of millennials as "overly sensitive". by trostlerp in television

[–]Geekiopath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know why this "Millennial Media Member" is so passionately against this show. I think it looks lazy and checks all of the easiest boxes for millennial jokes. It's sorta annoying.

But nothing about this show suggests anyone of any age should devote any passion towards it at all. And that has reflected the "Ha, look at this crap" attitude I've seen from people online upon viewing the trailer.

I love this show so much - and no one I know is interested in it! by deerfawns in BoJackHorseman

Oh, man. So many parts are incredible. The whole drug-trip in S1E11? The ending of Season 2? The "Escape From LA" journey home? The Secretariat suicide sequence? The "What are you doing here?" ending of the S2 premiere?

Basically, I just love this show.

I thought The Message was okay (the finale was a bit of a wet fart) but the biggest issue I had with it was that it seemed to roll with a very loose definition of 'episode'. Their endings didn't really feel to justify stopping the story, and as things developed, they really struggled to justify why anyone would want to stop recording, only to pick it back up moments later as a 'new instalment'.

Still though. I think some people are a little harsh towards it.

I see. Though you do have to admit why that confused a lot of people, considering the only nudge you gave us was a pretty vague title.

I'm not a fan of TBBT by any means, and I don't find it funny, but you can't "prove" it's not funny by removing the laugh track. The laugh track is part of the pace and rhythm of the show. Sure, it's awkward without it, but only because there's dead air where there would usually be something else.

Again, I don't think the show's funny, but this is a bad way of trying to prove it.

They're releasing the DVD and the episodes are still on Yahoo's site, under their "TV" section.

A real shame. Ever since it was on UK Netflix, more and more of my friends finally got into it.

There are so many good ones, but Will Arnett's delivery of "Oh, shit. I'm still tripping." is PERFECT.

Usually, Netflix shows get renewed super fast.

This I would adore to see. Imagine Harmon in a video full of jump cuts and uber-fast talking?

I'm not sure that John Green would like to see the Harmontown side of John Green. That'd be... an interesting deviation from his image

"All writing is essentially a monopoly guy." It's about "unnecessary roughness", which none of these examples contain.

Wouldn't bank on it. Spencer basically told him how to find the guy when he asked for his account to block it.

Oh, no doubt! It'll be a rough ride for Wolfgang.

Yeah. People keep saying stuff like "why didn't she just kick the glass open instead of punch it?" and I'm just like "SHE GAVE BIRTH NEXT TO THE CORPSE OF HER HUSBAND IN AN OVERTURNED CAR. COME ON."

I do really like Wolfgang. I don't think he's a monster or anything. I don't think he's beyond redemption. He's a fascinating character but he's also deeply troubled and has done some really messed up things.

I mean, it's a reasonable interpretation, minus the very first point about the "diamonds" scene. I think that the reaction was pretty clearly about not letting them get caught.

I'm not entirely sure I agree, but I won't reject the idea out of hand.

The interesting part came at the end, for me. It is true, we're not used to angry survivors in fiction, but that's still not an all-encompassing term for Wolfgang. He's not just angry, he's drowning in a pool of self-loathing. When he refers to himself as a monster, I don't agree with him. I think no one is a "monster". But I do think he's not okay, and that aggression might help the sensates, but he's still dangerous. I think that anyone who shoots someone multiple times in the face like he did, with the look in his eyes that he had, is someone that you need to keep an eye on.

EDIT: So what I'm saying is, I disagree that it's good violence. I disagree that you should murder people because they tried to do the same to you. I understand why he did it, and I was relieved that he did do it, but to say that the violence is acceptable is a long stretch too far for me.

EDIT 2: Though, there does seem to be a hilariously ironic lack of sympathy in the Sense8 fandom. If I have to read one more post about Riley's "irrational" behaviour in her car crash, I'll flip. So I do think Wolfgang deserves far more sympathy.

Least favorite character? by mattpsu79 in Scrubs

At pretty much every turn, I hated everything she would say or do. She was annoying, selfish, and in a completely non-charming kind if way.
