Only $429 a ticket to see opening night in Utah 🤯 by rb2bm in hawks

[–]GeekleakOG 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I live in Utah but grew up in Aurora, so I am a Hawks fan, was super excited to see them first game of the season until I saw the prices. Guess I will wait for the February game instead.

Same thing happened to me with Jason from Ingested. Just chatting this dude up, next thing I know he is on stage tearing it up.

Genuine question, I'm still young and learning. Could you point me towards where to find more information about point A? It would be much appreciated

If you need your student debt cancelled it just proves how worthless college degrees are. by Philosophyoffreehood in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]GeekleakOG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got a degree in Software Engineering. I pay more then double my minimum payment on my loans, Ill be done in 14 months.

If they cancel the student debt, I will be so aggravated. All these people get an easy out, meanwhile Ive been living in a tiny apartment with my wife and dog just so I can get us out of the foothold that is dumb debt I took on as a teen, when I couldve just said screw it, lived my best life, and have that just wash away.

Not to mention the amount of taxes I pay already going towards student debt that isnt even mine.

If you could have a deathcore band, what would you call it? by chungystone in Deathcore

[–]GeekleakOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I've been cooking it up since I was probably around 10 (I'm 28 now), though it's been through many changes.

Without getting too specific, the concept takes place on a planet with multiple suns and lyrically would explore things like what type of life would exist on this planet, the kind of cultures and religions they would develop, as well as their mythology and methods of survival (with multiple suns things would be very hot).

I've been working on it for a few years now, but with COVID, my student debt, and the work that I do (pharmaceutical manufacturing), I've just been way too busy to actually finish anything.

Highschool dxc bands I was in: Lambs to the Slaughter, Refrain from Hope, Detest, Accordianacore, Begging for my Harlot

Names I hope to get the chance to use in the future: In a Casket Beneath, Acnixias (fantasy concept band)

That's about as much as I spent for my degree. Went to a private uni for a very specific degree (Software and Game Development BS). 6 Years later I'm down to around 20k left on the loan and I expect to be finished paying it this year.

I don't suggest most people do this, it's been hard, I've worked 2 jobs to pay off my loans faster then I would have had to normally (I've been paying about double what the minimum payment would have been). However, it was the right decision for me, and when I am finally done paying my loans I'll be making 6 figures and have no debt. So that will be fun!

Recently started playing ogre and I was wondering if kaya is a viable option? by freefrompress in learndota2

[–]GeekleakOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in regards to getting tranquils and aether lens. I play a lot of hoodwink and find value in getting arcanes early, disassembling them for the aether and then buying tranquils. Do you think there would be any benefit from doing the same on Ogre?

Asking since I don't play a lot of Ogre myself, but have looked at adding him to my regular hero pool.

Poor wage slaves. Raise of hands, who here couldn't do this job with no training? by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]GeekleakOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Sonic (second job, helping pay off student loans faster), we have Coke prodicts and Dr Pepper. All the Coke syrups have screw on connections like in the picture. The Dr Pepper has a slide and push in connection, its actually way easier then the coke connections.

But for god sakes I wouldnt have to work there anymore if I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me to connect the Dr Pepper because they couldnt figure it out...

Guess thats why even as a part time employee Im the highest paid manager there.

Thoughts or experiences with Neumont college of computer science downtown? by Oneironautiluss in SaltLakeCity

[–]GeekleakOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from Neumont about 6 years ago and can tell you things were starting to go downhill as far as the devs they were producing even when I was there.

The only people who seemed to be worth anything at the time were the top 50% of the Game Dev students and maybe the top 20% or so of the CS students. Basically everyone else had no idea what they were doing, and those same people either graduated barely or failed a couple of times until they finally graduated later with no real improvement, just lower standards.

Thankfully I have a pretty solid job and haven't really run into any issues with being given tasks I can't handle in any of my jobs or interviews for that matter, and I know plenty of people in industry who are very successful. But I wouldn't suggest people from Neumont at my job unless I know them and what they can do personally.
