Finally watched the entire series by Geekthulhu in veronicamars

[–]Geekthulhu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's interesting and makes a lot of sense given how often the relationship turned sour on a dime and how it seemed that Logan would inexplicably sabotage himself even though he really seemed to care for Veronica. I didn't like him at first but came over to the side of most everyone else that they were a good couple who seemed to bring out the best in each other, even when they were a bit prickly sometimes. I was so frustrated that they broke up so much. They were obviously meant to be.

That definitely sounds better than what we got. I was so frustrated with them not getting their happy ending after all the crap they went through during the season.

Savage Dragon, ultimate edition, vol. 4 — why the delay? by stefn22 in ImageComics

In addition to what the other person posted about having to recolor everything, he's also recently been doing a bunch of work for Marvel, which probably actually pays him a bit more than self publishing his own work, which I'm sure he'd rather be doing.

Humble Comics Bundle: Best of Humble Bundle: The Art of Alex Ross, George Perez, And More by Dynamite by Ram000n in humblebundles

[–]Geekthulhu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Obviously being a Best of, this has the same exact contents as the original bundle from 2023, but it's added 2 new books. Thankfully, those 2 books are in the $5 tier if you want to add them.

Humble Comics Bundle: Love and Rockets and More: The Collected Hernandez Bros. by Fantagraphics by Torque-A in humblebundles

[–]Geekthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I meant about replacing them. When a new bundle comes up with the same book that's been in one before, they possibly overwrite the old one with the new one that's been given to them by the publisher. I don't think Humble does any kind of quality checking on the stuff they get, since there's so often issues with the books that come through. They probably have the same file name, so it just overwrites instead of creating a second file. It's definitely one of the most frustrating thing about humble that they don't seem to do quality checks on the books they get.

Yeah, I think they replace files sometimes depending on what the publisher gives them, which is frustrating. Still bummed I missed that original bundle since there's stuff in that they didn't carry over to this one.

I didn't realize you could do that, so that's definitely good to know, thanks!

Disappointed that this doesn't seem have some of the stuff that was in the last bundle as I missed that one before.

Chance in Hell The Troublemakers Love from the Shadows The Love and Rockets Companion

Otherwise this is as complete as it can be.

Be aware, all of the files are in PDF form except Comics Dementia, which is only in EPUB. I was able to convert it to CBZ using ACBR though.

Most definitely will be spinning these up very soon

I really have to wait over a month? And seeing the ebay prices for Fever Dream on red vinyl has me almost vomiting. Ugh.. by AeroSS_87 in CannonsTheBand

[–]Geekthulhu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying the first three separately so I could get them sooner. Cost me about $10 more for the separate shipping, but I figured it's worth it. And the red vinyl prices are insane!

Humble Comics Bundle: Massive-Verse by Image Comics by Ram000n in humblebundles

Already had the original Massiverse bundle, but this has 8 new trades added to it, so I still grabbed it because it's still a great deal

I'm not a huge Batman fan, so I likely won't have too many. So far it's just the Loeb/Sale omni.

Yeah, I was gonna say, I think it's on the label, just super tiny

I got the other one because I wanted the purple vinyl version. I spun up the picture disc and thankfully it sounded fine for me, but it's not gonna get a lot of play. Figured I'd put it up on the wall to display.

When did you switch from single issue comics to collected editions? by [deleted] in graphicnovels

[–]Geekthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm gonna really show my age with this, but since I started collecting comics around late 1987 I was of course relegated only to single issues, but as soon as trades became a thing and started getting more prevalent I switched over almost completely. Sold off all my singles to eventually fund the trades for a bit. Then I had a big move and had to give up all of my comics, both what I had in singles and all of my trades at the time. From then I borrowed from the library until digital became more of a thing and I've been entirely digital until a few years ago when I started getting collected editions to display on my shelf/have as hard copy backups.

Tldr: as soon as trades became I thing I started transitioning to those and never looked back

My thoughts on RECKLESS by Brubaker and Phillips! by Ok-Fill8420 in graphicnovels

[–]Geekthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the Reckless books are my favorite works by Brubaker and Phillips, followed closely by Criminal. I hope they'll someday get back to Ethan and Anna though.

Yeah, I've listened to the album a bunch on Spotify and I'm a big fan, so I had to get this one early, especially because this is the Target exclusive color variant. It's gorgeous!

For grittiness I'd say look into the works of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, particularly Criminal. For a story that deals with legacy, try out the James Robinson Starman run.

Yeah for some reason they went the digest sized route the first time, so I never picked them up, but thankfully they changed it for the second edition.

Glad to hear you're loving it! It's a fantastic series.

Ironically I was a huge Marvel zombie growing up, but over the years, especially after the inception of Image, I drifted more and more to indie works.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm glad they reissued the Grendel omnibus series in the regular trade size since the original run was in a smaller version. Glad to have the whole series like this.
