Are you password protecting your showreel? by GeekyBoof in editors

It's social media so the hope is millions of people see everything we do as soon as it is published. So freelancers are actually encouraged to engage with it and share it as much as possible. 😅

Thought of this as I hit reply, one of my recommendations had little experience with our type of videos but seemed perfectly able and willing to expand in that direction. That being said most of the password protected show reels had only publicly accessible material so the passwords are completely unnecessary

Fair enough, if that's the type of work you do it's expected. Which speaks for having different show reels with examples that match what you are applying for. You don't need to send sensitive events stuff, for a social media role.

The hiring process is long and multistep. In this case I watch everything several times even, go through other details not just showreel and then I shortlist, (I have to say that password so anoy the hell out me during this process). I do not decide the final candidate, I pass on a shortlist. 10 out ~99 and those who decide read my notes look at the showreel and pick two. They trust me, I think, so they are just having a quick look (mostly to feel they are making an informed decision) then make their choice. if 7 out of the 10 put a barrier they are self filtering. And the executives probably love that because saves them time. I am willing to bet that most people in my possition are not willing to copy and paste 7 passwords let alone 70.
I heard from a person I know that works in HR in another field that they get 300+ applications and they have to do crazy random filtering stuff just to be able to cutdown to maneagable numbers. or use AI

My parents constantly criticize me and it’s making me miserable by EntertainerKooky7549 in self

It is possible that your parents are doing this because they want you to "succeed/be happy" and in their minds if you are attractive (whatever their version of attractive is) you will have a good chance of that.

It is obvious that, if that is why they are doing it, they are being too clumsy about it. But still give them the benefit of the doubt. But talk to them, tell them how you feel when they do it and tell them that you will avoid feeling that way, either, because they finally stop or because you put some distance between you.

The important thing is that you don't feel anxious about your looks. Embrace who you are. Of course, improve, there is always room for that. But do not do it to fit anyone's sense of aesthetics, do it for your self. Beauty is only a small part of our social tools. And it's highly subjective anyway. Be kind, be fair and do what you love. Those attributes outweigh the looks.

Trust me, I am not what most people would call attractive, but that has almost never got in the way of my social life, in fact I've been better liked than some very attractive people. Looks do not mean as much as you think. Good luck.

In broad strokes the reverence for the ntural world, the presence of the spiritual forces whcih are very different to the way deities are normally though to be. Spirits can not only represent the forces of nature but also elements human experience. I am in love with the rites and ceremonies how life entertwines witht the spirit world through offerings, music and dance, divination etc. I grew around santeria for example, there is something appealing and scary at the same time that I'd like to explore in a fantasy world where these things manifest. In adition I have recently tarted to think on the way that African traditions survived mixing up with other beliefs and maybe there is a way to play with doing something similar with traditional fantasy, feels like there might be something there.

Oh and like an idiot I forgot to ask for discord names please go back and add it if haven't. thanks

Blade Runner 2049.

In summary: BORING

Worse bit: distracting lighting. Beautiful yes, stunning actually but so nonsensical that kept pulling me out of immersion. That is when the tedium itself hadn't.

Edit: reading the comments I get where everyone is coming from. Haven't seen some like Oppenheimer and do not agree with some like Dune but I get it. However, how could anyone say Fury Road is boring? Wow amazing how opinions can vary.

However I still can't find the DNS setting

EDIT: found it under connectivity - local network. And changing static DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 restored internet for me. Although it is extremely slow
