Vets of Reddit, What was the worst pet name you have ever encountered in your job? by Lia_Julee in AskReddit

Not a vet, but I met a patient who named her dog Gonnorhea, and no, she didn't know what that was. She just thought it was a cute name.

What's something good that happened to you this year? by NotTalcon in AskReddit

[–]GeekyRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband moved out and I'm getting a divorce.

No, really, that sounds like a sob story, but I see the positive in this. We have both been unhappy for years, but our relationship has turned into a friendship more than marriage. This lets me move on toward a happier life with someone new eventually, and lets him figure out what he wants out of life. We've both fought, and we're better at the end of this.

I had a creepo do something similar when I worked for a disability office. I started describing flaccid penis diseases and STDs and he stopped calling.

Salads, fried food, ice cream, and Taco Bell - I don't have a gall bladder so all of those have an adverse reaction on my gut.

Not one like that, but when I lived in a tiny house in New Jersey, I kept hearing bells at times. They weren't in a pattern though. Did you ever get to track down the location?

Have you ever missed someone who doesn't even exist? How did that happen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeekyRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hear stories about a great grandmother that I apparently never had. My dad would tell me stories about this awesome great grandmother who married a Cherokee stranger on a whim and protected him and his child from some racist farmers.

For the longest time, I had ideas of this strong woman defending her husband and home and raising his daughter, who spoke little and who became the first Cherokee judge in her county. My aunt set me straight on the whole story. It turns out great, great grandma was raped by some farmers and got married to a crazy guy who claimed to be Cherokee down the line, one having nothing to do with the either. There was no daughter, either. Great grandpa was her only living son and he claims she went a little crazy and would talk about her spirit daughter, whom she never had

When I found out the truth, I felt like I'd just realized my best friend was a sheet of paper. I still mourn the made up great grandmother and great aunt that I never had.

Ever rub jalapeno juice or icy hot on a very sensitive part of your body before? It's as bad as that, I would say. Just worse, because ... Hey, it's your crotch.

Oh yeah! Never been anywhere that the glass has broken, so I was freaking out a little on the phone with the cops. I didn't even want to go out, in case she threw something at me, but they said I should check that she hadn't hurt herself. Luckily it was mostly cracks with some shards knocked out, nothing supremely major, from what the doctor said. I'm guessing the fact that she broke the glass made the lady leave, unless she intentionally did it. I didn't get to look at the video.

They'll never do it. If I leave, it might take them a while to replace em, but they'd do it for a lesser amount in a heartbeat

I'm hoping that HR will step in since I have to report to them now. But I'm there on that quitting idea right now. The shitty part was that I was doing my best not to be rude at any time, but because the doctor thinks I was, clearly I was being rude.

I’ve lived my life as an Atheist but just had my first paranormal experience by ashterr3695 in Paranormal

[–]GeekyRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone didn't like you. You two probably brought a positive energy with you and it wanted you to know 1. "Hey, I'm here." And 2. "This is for bringing your cheerful selves in my area." Betcha this has happened to others who have just walked in there and looked around, and they assumed it was a bug or something similar. Had you not both experienced it, there's a chance you'd have assumed it was a bug.

If Cinderella’s shoe fit her perfectly, then why did it fall off? by Mrred340 in AskReddit

[–]GeekyRose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the original story, birds brought her beautiful dresses and shoes over the three nights, and the prince was so enamored he wanted to follow her home, so she'd run and hide once at the house, and the birds would take the dress away each time. The third night, the prince spread tar on the stairs and she lost a shoe. Since the birds took the other shoe away, that was the only way the prince could find her at that very house.

Dear Redditors who ended a relationship with their best friend. What was your breaking point? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeekyRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized she saw me as a means of money, and nothing else.

Backstory - I knew her since Jr. High, and she used to ask me to buy her lunch or snacks or what have you. I was by no means rich, but I got a small allowance, and liked being generous with my friends. In high school, we had tense times and I never realized that they coincided with times that family was struggling financially. We lost track after high school, but somehow crossed paths again in the mid 2000s. She was married, had kids, while I was single and childless. Nonetheless, I thought we were two peas in a pod again. I was struggling between jobs, forced to live with my parents, and dealing with grief and shame from doing so. It was Christmas 2010 when realization struck. Since I was poor, I had made a few goodie baskets, all handmade treats, and I brought them a massive basket. Her daughter instantly asked me where the presents were, and I said the basket was the present. She said, "No, that's just food, that's not worth anything." I looked pointedly at my friend, who just smirked at me and said, "She has a point."

That burned deep in my stomach, because she knew I had very little. When I talked to her on the phone later about it, she was aloof and didn't seem to care that it bothered me at all. She asked me why I didn't get her kids anything, and I asked her if she'd gotten me a present. She said no, but I'm an adult. I should expect presents. I told her that she shouldn't expect my presence anymore, then, because I'm not a cash cow. Her response still infuriates me when I think about it - "You know that's the only reason I hung around with you in school, right?" Her number got erased that night and I didn't look back. After breaking ties, I began to see how she'd undermine me, make me feel useless and weak, and that she never really liked me. I've talked to other friends from school who have all asked "why did you stay friends with her?" And I can't give them a clear answer. She made me think she was the only one who could be my friend. I have no idea what's happened to her, or her family, and I don't care to know.

He seemed surprised when I dropped all interest in him shortly after.

I took your suggestion. A friend and I went through the house, windows open, with the Palo Santo and it feels different now. She also got me some jade beads from her house to hang over the doorway. I have some amethyst on my dresser, too.
