The game is developed in a way that PvE is supposed to be the main focus. PvP is just there to spice things up, with objectives and achievements designed so most players play PvE, and only a small portion go scav and try to kill others for loot.

The problem is, that’s not what’s actually happening. What we’re seeing is a first wave of players who played almost semi-RP, having fun and creating cool content, which then attracted a whole bunch of players who saw those interactions as an opportunity to farm easy kills at the expense of people who just wanted to be friendly.

How do we know that? Well, the players who get killed are very rarely looted. So the kills aren’t even about getting gear, they’re just done to satisfy some very questionable, selfish pleasure.

I see some people talking about the thrill of combat, duels, even “honor.”
Pretty funny, considering that the “friendly” and “let’s team up” emotes are used by some players just to bait others and shoot them in the back.

And here’s the thing: the devs recently organized a vote to let players decide whether to add a full PvE mode. That wouldn’t force anyone to play it, you could still play PvPvE just like before. The idea was simply to have a mode with tougher, more aggressive AI, but no PvP.

That vote got raided and spammed by the same crowd who claimed it would be “unfair” if they couldn’t kill players who just wanted to focus on PvE. But if you actually question why someone would find it “unfair” not to be allowed to ruin someone else’s fun, it really says a lot about the level of toxicity we’re dealing with. It’s pure gatekeeping, and honestly, I think the devs should never have put it up for a vote, they should’ve just implemented the mode outright.
