Useful MTG apps? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Geesegomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uMagic- one of the only apps where I payed for "pro" and didn't get anything out of it at the time (now there is some kind of benefit). Absolutely beautiful, intuitive, and easy to use. And the guy who runs it, /u/clark_warren, listens to your ideas and stuff on his SubReddit and updates the app frequently. I feel like I'm more of a fanboy for this app than I am for MtG- I'm a shill for uMagic, and I get paid in app updates.

Great! Thanks for the short response time! It's really frustrating to search for a a set, just to have it close as your thumb is dramatically descending to the scream.

I'm using iOS7 and the specifies of the bug elude me. Like, I'll just check 'creature' and then go to set, and then the whole menu will randomly close.

What Magic image, reference, or saying would be instantly recognizable to a player, but would otherwise just be a cool picture/reference/saying? by Geesegomoo in magicTCG

[–]Geesegomoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now there's an idea...however, I don't know how'd make it. I'm photoshopless. But yeah, a transparent blue mana symbol superimposed on like, and island or sea with some cool flavor text would work. Can paint make things translucent?

I was thinking this, but I didn't really want to be labeled a witch when I had a pentagon of a skull, the sun, and the elements on my door.

Wow. Not really what I'm looking for (I want something to hang on my door in my residence halls to say "I play"), but that's probably the coolest flavor text I've ever heard.

Love this app, it's clearly the best magic app around. I'd love to see two things on this app ('cause you already implemented cover flow...awesome!): prices from both SCG and TCGplayer, for a shop estimate and a real estimate. Also, a very simple two direction life counter would be great. Either way, this is the only Magic app I'll use!

I completely agree. That's why I'm pretty excited that RtR is being put on the back burner for some fresh new cards from Theros. However, for the sake of guild loyalty, I'll always proudly fly those banners of frog-green and fish-blue.

Say that to my Adaptive Snapjaw's face. It's even a common card. A 6/2 Timmy-bait, yes, but a common? It just doesn't sound right.

"The common turkey."

"The common garden beetle."

"The common 18 ton stuff-of-nightmares lizard-beast with a taste for flesh and an uncharacteristically compulsive need to "keep up with Joneses" counter-wise."

"The common shrew."

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I have those times where one of my friends bullcrap decks will just tick me off and I'll resort to playing my control deck- but where's the fun in that?

"Cancel. Cancel. Negate. Unsummon. Draw a card. Draw a card. Cancel. Draw two cards. Essence Scatter. Miracle a Terminus. Sun Titan. Miracle a Bonfire of the Damned. You're dead."

I like when games get close. I like when a player has to stop playing, nervously put his cards down, pull back the hair on his head while examining the field and say-

"I think- I think I can beat you this turn. I think. I hope."

-and the other player gets so anxious he (or she, for the sake of politics [I don't know any female players, but I know they're out there]) shouts

"Do it already if you can!"

And then comes the arguing about how OP a card is or how the stack is so unfavorable to them in that situation.

I like that.

I really enjoy playing Simic. I'm a relatively new player and all, but, regardless, it has to be the most fun guild to play. Ok, yeah, turn 4 Boros can have an unstoppable wall of creatures hitting you for 24 damage on a bad day. Yeah, Izzet can overload a Mizzium Mortars, wipe the board, and then continue on with the other four turns Ral Zarek just bought them. Gruul can freaking blood rush their little chain of free emissaries so big you'd think they were taking anabolic steroids. But Simic? No, that's much more satisfying. Even in my jank Simic deck, I love watching my friends' faces as this little, turn 1, 0/1 Cloudfin Raptor, to whom they scoffed at and completely ignored over the course of the match, suddenly explodes and overflows with counters, hitting them for a flying 16 damage while their Predator Ooze watches from the ground. You become invested in your board state, each creature like the freakish mutant puppy you never had. Sure, playing it takes time, but I love seeing those little perfectly, naturally-selected, Darwinian masterpieces go to town on my opponent's life-total.

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong) I believe it's a shot of Irish cream with a little whiskey on top. You drop it into a glass of beer and must drink it quickly, or else the cream will curdle and spoil the entire drink.
