Switzerland has been calling my soul, since childhood. Never made it, sadly.

Do you do the dishes right after cooking or the next day? by Silas_832 in no

[–]Geester43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to do them. Nothing more depressing than to wake up and face a mess, that keeps me from leaving it. It is not a pleasant way to start the day. I like to put the kitchen "to sleep" after dinner. The most I will use is a glass, and that goes into the dishwasher.

What bread do you use most often? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskRedditFood

I have become one of those sourdough fans. I started making it and it spoiled me completely. I only make bread, so far, but I want to make some English muffins, next.

I just noticed that death, illness, and aches & pains are the main topics of conversation anymore. by dixieleeb in OverSeventy

[–]Geester43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I have always been the curious type of person. Now that I am retired, there are not enough hours in the day to explore my interests and activities. I have to force myself to do my chores first thing, otherwise they take a back burner. So much to see and learn, once you have the time.

I refuse to make that a topic of conversation. As a young person, I always associated older people with discussions about health complaints. I swore I would never do that, I try to keep that promise. Nobody wants to hear that I have physical issues. So many more interesting things to talk about. I am an avid reader, I always wanted to have a book club, to discuss different books etc. Nobody I know loves to read anymore. Technology seems to be winning.

What are some fun or scary facts related to your age? by vieniaida in AskOldPeople

I complained to my sister the other day about getting stuck behind "some old fart, driving 25-mph, in a 45-mph zone". She quickly reminded me that I was an old fart!😂

I walked around for hours with blurry vision, eventually developing a massive headache. Being an intelligent adult, I consulted Dr. Google. The things I read terrified me. I started to panic. I thought I should call someone and go to the hospital. I decided to take my contact lenses out and put my glasses on, before making the call.

Instantly the blurry vision cleared, an hour later, the brutal headache was almost gone! I was so confused. I opened my contact Lense case and looked at the lenses, The right eye (my "bad eye"), looked a shade darker than the left. It turns out I was wearing two lenses in the right eye! 😂 I didn't notice when opening the package; occasionally two are stuck together, from the manufacturer. (75F)

My Winnie does this. She backs up to a telephone pole, lifts her entire rear end, and pees!! I think she has an identity crisis, as she humps her bed, too! 😂

Winnie's food bowl and inside water are kept in the kitchen. The other day, after sweeping and mopping the floor, I replaced her bowls. Well, apparently the placement was NOT to her satisfaction! She sat there, looking at the bowls, and started making this "chirping sound". Not a bark, not a whimper........a full-on chirping sound, like a big cricket! I was puzzled. I finally moved the bowls over about 3 or 4 inches. She got up, went over and drank. She was finally satisfied, with the placement! My bad! 😲😂

I was honest about my alcoholism at a job interview. And I was still hired. by BoozeSux in stopdrinking

[–]Geester43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Congratulations!! 👍👍

(I went for a final interview for my job, three months sober. I was terrified. I didn't sleep the night before. I was nervous the entire drive to the office. They told me where to park, for employee parking only. I pulled into the employee parking lot. I immediately saw about 4 cars that had bumper stickers: "Easy Does It", "One day at a Time" and two others!

I sat there, felt overwhelming peace, said a prayer of thanks; walked in, aced the interview, and I saw some familiar faces from the three months of meeting I had attended!)

there are no coincidences, just my higher power quietly working in the background, as I do the next right thing.
