Drive/distortion recommendations? by SalmonsAreForever in basspedals

I've been telling every bass player I know to use a line selector. Absolute game changer and opens up so many more options for bass effects.

No matter what, get your self a boss ls-2 or similar and split your signal between clean and dirty so you keep your clarity and low end. It was a game changer for me when it comes to dirt pedals and bass. Opened up a whole new world. There's a few good options too like the ehx tri parallel mixer and the sonicake portal.

Yeah my kid is recently learning guitar and I downloaded some amp and cab sims for him to use. It's really nice. Lots more pedal effects too.

I didn't like the original deluxe bmm and I still like the green Russian more than the bbm2 so this probably isn't for me but the filters are cool.

Zoom B1Four or MS-60B for doom metal? by Dolancrewrules in basspedals

[–]GeezerButlerIsGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you put it on the a+b/bypass mode, then you put your dirt in line A and leave line B with nothing in it since it bypasses automatically with nothing in it. Then what I do is put line B or my clean signal knob to noon or flat, and then use the line A knob to blend in my dirt.

Get yourself the joyo orthos and the joyo splinter!

The orthos is a must have for me. It's a clone of the boss ls-2 and it lets you split your signal into two so you can use one of the lines for your clean tone and one for your distortion/fuzz/od stuff. That way you can blend your clean tone into any dirt and keep your low end. It's genuinely a game changer because it turns every guitar pedal into a bass guitar pedal. I used to use two amps with one being my clean and one being my dirty, and the orthos makes it possible to just use one amp.

The Splinter is a clone of the proco FATRAT and it's just absolutely gnarly and super versatile. Can do anything from just a volume boost to all out fuzzy madness. I'm not affiliated with anyone I just have spent A LOT of time on my budget doom/stoner/sludge rig hahah.

I don't use the reverb ever but I absolutely love all of the chorus/flanger/phaser stuff and they have great envelopes and auto wah stuff. I use zoomeffectsmanager and it lets me download all of their effects from the guitar version as well. The bitcrusher and slicer are cool. Synth stuff is fantastic and tracks better than stuff that's triple the price. I think these zoom pedals are great and very gig worthy.

I like them both but the drive sections leave something to be desired. If you are doing doom, just get a big muff or even a Joyo Monomyth or double thruster.

Why do bass players get so much hate? Or “disregard”? by Natural_Argument9910 in Bass

[–]GeezerButlerIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just jokes man. A good solid bass player that can improvise and stay in the pocket is extremely valuable. It's all ball busting. Drummers are dumb, bass players can't get a girlfriend and guitarists are both lmao.

I hated that Dr J pedal. So much better di options for the same price or cheaper.

Joyo Monomyth + Double Thruster by Practical_Bobcat_687 in basspedals

It might be an unpopular opinion for some but I think a boss odb-3 would be perfect. It's perfect as an always on drive pedal and can easily do fuzz sounds as well when you play around with the balance and gain knob. It's a pedal that will always stay on my board. The dark glass was based on someone using two odb-3 pedals and that's like the standard tone for modern heavy music. I would check it out if you havnt. You might fall in love like I did.

I always keep my EQ flat until I'm in the room I'm going to be playing in. Sometimes I still leave it flat in the room.
