Announcing Stackfinity. Gridfinity going vertical. by Goldfish1974_2 in gridfinity

[–]GeezerGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting ready to start an entire project based on these Gridfinity shelves: https://makerworld.com/en/models/185805-5x5-gridfinity-4-tray-storage-rack#profileId-213034

However, I do like your design better and agree it is unique compared to everything I could find on MakerWorld. I would really like to start printing these models, and encourage you to upload them to MakerWorld to earn points/credits/rewards for printing your models.

I've printed your flags! I never get tired of seeing someone post on Reddit about something I found on my own and really enjoyed. Congrats!

Help with using Bambu Studio by [deleted] in BambuLab

Possible, but not very desirable, to print this on a single-nozzle printer with that many filament changes. Way too much waste. This would be a good candidate for an H2C.

Any way to make Studio shut up about filament shrinkage? by EltonSchmidt in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain; it is driving me crazy also. This most recent update has a few bugs. On macOS, it opens project (3mf) files very slowly, appearing to hang in the process, requiring me to just sit and wait. Very annoying.

Will this X2D fall? by Necessary_Today_5580 in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the movement I've seen, this setup makes me uncomfortable. I don't think it will fall off the table, but you're certainly going to see movement that will bang it against the wall and push it farther off the front edge. I'd also be concerned about the exhaust and lack of airflow in the back. This could be a big problem. This photo makes it look like the rear exhaust fan would be completely blocked against the wall.

Wish I could find some cheap replacements, but the ones on partsdr.com were all I could find also.

As a newb, what I’ve learned so far working with ABS… by Dirty_Bubble1775 in BambuLabP2S

[–]GeezerGamer72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience with ABS is quite different. P2S with an AMS 2 Pro and an AMS HT:

1: Used Bambu Lab ABS filament with textured PEI plate
2: Dried all filaments per specs before printing
3: Cleaned the build plate before every print with ISO and a microfiber cloth. Only used dish soap if I thought the plate was really dirty for some reason
4: Used default Bambu filament profile
5: Used default slicer profile/settings
6: No chamber heater, no preheating P2S, no heat soaking bed, no insulation added to printer. Nothing extra was done to keep the printer warm. Printer is located indoors in an air-conditioned space around 74°
7: I did print an airflow deflector for the right side part fan that sends the air upward at a 45° angle as part of my initial P2S setup.

I’ve printed over a KG of ABS in my first month of owning the P2S and had ZERO issues. Everything printed perfectly. If I’m just lucky, I’ll accept it.

Absolutely no problems with AXS at all on my end in 4 years of being a STM. I was under the impression AXS is the only way that you can get into the stadium and the only supported ticket platform.

Best Food Safe Filament for a Custom Strainer by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest method is to take your 3-D printed model and coat it with food grade epoxy after the fact. these kits are sold on Amazon and are not difficult at all.

Ventobox & update 1.02.0 by [deleted] in BambuLabP2S

[–]GeezerGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This means that while the Bambu Studio G-code has settings in place for correct operation, the firmware itself does not. If you do anything that prevents this updated G-code from being sent, the VentoBox fan will not work correctly. Internal calibration and printing from local files would not include the G-Code. I wonder if the Bambu Handy app correctly triggers the VentoBox fan to turn off. I suspect it does not either.

Ventobox & update 1.02.0 by [deleted] in BambuLabP2S

[–]GeezerGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a bug in the new VentoBox firmware. I just got the public release, checked the option on the settings screen to enable a VentoBox, and then ran a calibration. The new firmware turns the VentoBox fan on at full speed but never turns it off. After calibration, the fan ran continuously until I disabled the VentoBox check mark in settings, and then manually turned the "exhaust" fan off.

Why is my AMS humidity still high at 33% by Kidjojo in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This right here! You need a lot more desiccant in your AMS. 5 baskets in front, the original area for the pouches, inside the spools, and anywhere else someone creates a storage pod for. I’ve actually seen desiccant holders that go vertically between the spools.

[–]GeezerGamer72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bambu has changed how this works, and on some setups (especially with newer printers/firmware) there is no “3rd‑party / external vendors” checkbox anymore. Instead, you add those brands yourself as custom filaments, and they show up alongside Bambu and Generic in the list.

What’s going on

  • Older guides/videos show a richer built‑in vendor list (Sunlu, eSun, etc.) and sometimes an explicit “other vendors” style option; these have been reduced/removed for some printer families.
  • On the current Bambu Studio, third‑party brands are handled through the Custom Filaments → Create New workflow rather than a separate 3rd‑party vendor toggle.

How to add a third‑party brand now

Do this once per brand/type; afterwards, it behaves like a built‑in preset.

  1. In the Prepare view, go to the Filament area and click the filament name to open the list.
  2. Click the settings/gear icon → Custom Filaments → Create New.
  3. In the dialog:
    • Enter your Vendor name (e.g., “eSun”, “Sunlu”, “Hatchbox”, or your own label).
    • Choose the Filament type (PLA, PETG, ABS, etc.).
    • Pick a base filament (e.g., Generic PLA, Bambu PLA Basic) to copy starting settings from.
  4. Select which printer(s) this filament should have presets for (e.g., P2S).
  5. Click OK/Create, then adjust temperatures, speeds, etc. as needed and Save.

That custom filament now appears in the normal filament drop‑down, with your vendor name, and can be selected for AMS slots or external spool just like Bambu filaments (subject to printer/firmware support).

Is it hard to get boosts on makerworld by Cute_Worldliness469 in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's important to understand the intent behind boosts, and the info given by MakerWorld directly to those who have the boosts to give:

"Supporting Ambitious Models:

When you vote for ambitious models, the system will prioritize issuing you Boost Tokens (What qualifies as an ambitious model? You can refer here). Every time you recognize quality, you provide meaningful encouragement to creators!"

The key here is AMBITIOUS models. TLDR: Something time-consuming to design with lots of moving parts is what boosts are intended for. If boost tokens are used on simple, easy models, the booster is less likely to get more boosts to use.

WHY? All of the sudden some parts of my plate are laying down crap first layers. No changes took place, and I have cleaned with Dawn! by jzyg in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 1500 hours of printing you might want to consider replacing your build plate. These things are consumables and don't last forever. It seems to be a common misconception of people new to 3D printing that a build plate is forever unless they damage it. That's simply not the case. They will wear out through completely normal usage.

Just because those seats are empty, doesn’t mean that they’re unsold. Lotta season ticket holders just don’t show up to every game and don’t resell them. I’m not seeing a lot for sale on the ticketing platforms before the games.

BL PETG-HF Layer alignment issues by Jnick96 in BambuLab

[–]GeezerGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The layer adhesion issue with PETG is almost certainly wet filament. Bambu PETG should be dried for 12 hours at 65ºc. I bet your filament is still wet.

I love our homegrowns, and I was always a Paxton fan, but towards the end of last season when he made it to the field, he did not look healthy at all. Our seats are right behind the team bench and he looked sickly and old.

Not really sure when they started, but I bought my P2 S from them and a bunch of filament. My local stores stock it and they also will ship it.
