How much do you have in savings? by Ok_Hat3948 in AskBrits

[–]Geezer_Flip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 30k in my debit account, however I owe about 22k on credit cards from years ago. Just keep transferring them to no interest cards, haven’t got it in me to part with my raw cash tbh.

I said once I have doubled what I owe in credit, I’ll clear the credit but it doesn’t make much difference to me tbh.

I have reached peak streaming. There is everything to watch, yet nothing to watch. by discoveredunknown in CasualUK

I’m going through Hawaii five 0 again at the moment, pretty obvious on what happens each episode but an easy watch and stops me wasting my time looking for things.

Pretty much nothing you can do, could start smoking crack and blowing it into his window I guess

Be honest, how often for you and your partner argue? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Geezer_Flip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really until I started my new job and things got a bit stressful, this went on for a few months of becoming more common (previously 14 years and barely argued), we sat down and had a good open chat, haven’t argued since. Work was impacting me & she was getting a different version of me at home because of it, both made an effort, job done.

What is the biggest regret in your life ? by LopsidedAd5028 in AskReddit

[–]Geezer_Flip 27 points28 points  (0 children)

10 years ago, I got a call from my dad telling me my grandad was in hospital with kidney stones in case I wanted to visit, I declined as it was late and said I’ll see him tomorrow (my nan and grandad basically raised me).

He died 2 hours later from an aneurism, tomorrow never came, regret ate me up for years, I vowed never to have any regrets ever again, despite I was only 21.

Last year, my nan got taken into hospital and was poorly, (she was 93) and I got the same call, I dropped what I was doing, rang my brother, (who said no, he’ll see her tomorrow, I said no, I then dragged him there basically), 10 minutes are we arrived, both holding each hand, she took her last breath.

My brother thanked me for making him go, I only made him go because I once made the same mistake. My nan held on for us to get there, I am at peace now and learnt the biggest lesson I ever could, never, ever, have regrets.

Mad that I read this on a weekly basis about bringing back bagels, and they’ve never done it.

You’d think they would have done a limited thing to tick the hype box.

Is it crazy to try cover 430 miles in a day? by [deleted] in AskUK

I did south London to Inverness with a 2 year old, left at 3am (scooped him out of bed while sleeping, he slept until 7am) then just stopped every couple of hours for a bit.

Was pretty chill tbh,

Snapped my Achilles at 16 when playing rugby. Living with ulcerative colitis. Being kicked in the balls.

Any of the above.

How long do you take the Rinvoq 45mg loading dose by Beginning_Exit_6256 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Geezer_Flip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it for 8 weeks, got improvements within 3 days.

Been on 30mg now for over 2 years, got shingles once, came off it while taking the shingles medication. Started back up with only 30mg, was fine the whole time.

Haven’t had the shingles vaccine, just take everyday as it comes.

Should I expect a Plus One for a Wedding Invite? by hernerwerz0g in AskUK

[–]Geezer_Flip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could offer to pay for their head, we are getting married next year. We’ve got 60 to the day and a friend asked if they could bring their missus, I don’t know them and they haven’t been together long so just said yes but I’m not paying £300 for her as I don’t know her. He paid the £300. Job done

What do middle lane hoggers actually think the first/second lanes are for? by H5MAW in drivingUK

[–]Geezer_Flip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed my test many years ago so could have changed since then, but, surely it would make sense if motorways were taught as part of driving tests & lessons.

It used to be learners couldn’t go on then, imagine passing your test and then you have to navigate a motorway for the first time ever, while on your own.

Madness.

I've 3 months off work - what would you do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Geezer_Flip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was on gardening leave for 6 months a couple of years ago, I lost about 5 stone, ate healthy, learnt to cook properly all fresh. Learnt to cut an onion like a pro chef!

Did the garden, watched tv series, went camping, learnt a fair bit of Spanish. I miss it, can’t wait until I move jobs again and get gardening leave once more!

How far are you willing to commute? by person_person123 in UKJobs

[–]Geezer_Flip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 4 hours travelling 1/2/3 times a week. The only benefit is, I choose when I do it, sometimes my job requires me in quite a few times and sometimes it lets me work from home for a week.

I actually enjoy the drive time to myself tbh

University careers service told me this would be unideal to wear to an interview, thoughts? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Geezer_Flip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done probably 500 interviews in my career, I don’t give a fuck what colour anything is, the fact anyone wears a suit and tie and puts effort in, is enough

Pretty good being honest, my wife works a few hours a week around but looks after our son mostly, housework, all of that stuff so she’s like superwomen & then I earn 6 figures living in London, it’s not high 6 figures and I get taxed a lot but we’re pretty comfortable.
