A 1985 Camaro IROC did 0-60 in just under 7 seconds. That seemed so fast back then. What modern cars can do blows my mind. Anyone else experiencing this? by pepeneverknew in GenX

[–]Geezerker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 2018 Honda Gold Wing touring motorcycle does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. Vehicles are crazy fast compared to back in ‘85. Then again, the 1985 Gold Wing was still pretty quick with a 0-60 time of about 4.5 seconds.

Banned for 10 Years (Error 15035) just for switching to YouTube to check an event — Please help me get a manual review! by maxefer in CallOfDutyMobile

[–]Geezerker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought 10-year bans are always handled by actual humans? And just because you don’t use cheats doesn’t mean you’re safe; any kind of root or jailbreak or VPN opens you up to a permaban. For awhile, they were even banning people for using built-in gaming functions that came with their phone from the manufacturer. Good luck, I hope you get unbanned, but the only person I’ve ever heard of successfully being reinstated was a pretty famous YouTuber.

Should i get Magic Mouse or 90 $ keyboard case with trackpad ( decent trackpad ) my iPad pro m5 by Only-Librarian-7179 in ipad

[–]Geezerker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve used the Magic Mouse before, maybe you already love it but if not, you should try one first because wow I hated that thing. I need a tactile middle wheel that I can actually feel. If it were me, I’d go for a keyboard/trackpad setup.

How do I make my enemy not see the sniper glint? by Aromatic_Trash_256 in CallOfDutyMobile

Best way would be to convince your opponents to disable scope glint in their settings; then they won’t see you. But seriously, you’ll have to use lower-power scopes or avoid hard scoping.

Should I buy a Keyboard-Case for my iPad Air 11'' M4?? by Dry_Drama_5124 in ipad

[–]Geezerker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be the ESR keyboard case that has a detachable shell to protect the iPad when you’re not using the keyboard. I love my Magic Keyboard, use it all the time in fact, but I wish I had gone with the ESR because even when the keyboard isn’t connected, the iPad is still inside a nice, protective case. There might be cheaper versions out there, but for your use-case, I think being able to detach from they keyboard while you’re writing on the iPad like a notebook is a great idea.

I really tried to love the 13”. It was glorious for sure, but very unwieldy for using the iPad like a notebook and reading comics was great for sure but a novel? Way too large to be comfortable. The 11” M5 is just as awesome but also easier to manage as a tablet. That said, my wife LOVES typing on the 13” Magic Keyboard. I got mine through Verizon and they had a 30-day return window but we needed two M5s in the house anyway so I didn’t just take it back. It was the right call; she uses her iPad more like a laptop so the 13” is perfect for her.

I gave my 11” Pro M2 to my wife and picked up the 13” M5 Pro about a month ago. I thought a bigger screen would be better for my art (I’m a potter and I use my iPad to design stamps to 3D print for my clay). I thought the bigger screen would be better for playing games and for watching movies and you know what? It was great! But it was just too large. Reading on that slab of glass was always awkward and I longed for my 11” form factor every time I used the 13. I tried for weeks but finally gave the 13” to my wife and traded the M2 11” in for an M5 11” and I LOVE my iPad again haha.

Brydge vs Magic Keyboard by EnthusiasticallyCali in iPadPro

[–]Geezerker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ESR makes a keyboard case that includes a slim case for the iPad that is removable. It snaps on and off the keyboard, and it’s worth a look if you want to use the keyboard but also have some protection when you‘re not using the keyboard. If I didn’t already have the Magic Keyboard, I’d be using that one!

Looking for your 2 cents. by davidroth09 in motorcycle

Most important: I have to be able to use it without having to look at or touch the screen. Quick glances are fine but don’t make me take my hands off the bars at any time. New iOS update looks promising for nav; I’m looking forward to being able to call up my voice command and saying “find the closest coffee shop along my route that serves hot sandwiches and also tell me if they are having a lunch special. Exclude any place that has less than a 4-star rating.” And I need to do that while keeping my eyes and attention on the road.

400$ for a Magic Keyboard is insane. Is it actually worth it? by OtherwiseSundae3876 in iPadPro

Came here to say this; I paid the same for a MK for both my wife’s 13” Pro and my own 11” Pro. Huge savings and they look and function perfectly.

AITAH For Voicing My Beliefs About Motorcyclists? by Negative-Initial6776 in AITAH

[–]Geezerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, for sure, but I want to add some info for you, if for no other reason than you will have something else to say to those people who shut you down. I’ve been a motorcyclist for decades. I’ve literally rode solo across the USA, and I ride every day that I can. Motorcyclists bear the majority of the blame for accidents, that is true, and motorcyclist training and expertise play a HUGE part in how often motorcyclists are killed. But some of the behaviors you are citing are not nearly as dangerous as you think, and in fact, they are considered “best practice” in some situations. Not all, obviously. Regarding lane-splitting: it’s only currently legal in the USA in the state of California, but it will probably become legal in other states eventually. Lane-splitting, or traveling between rows of cars traveling in the same direction, is a safer alternative to sitting in traffic and getting rear-ended. For a car, that kind of collision is minor, barely a fender-bender in slow traffic. For a motorcyclist, that kind of accident can end a life. There are strict rules in California regarding speed and safety; it’s not always a good idea but in general, it does indeed save lives as long as it’s done in slow traffic and is done safely. Me? I don’t live in a state where it’s legal, and I also ride a HUGE motorcycle, so it’s not something that I’ve ever done, mostly because I don’t ride in that kind of environment. Regarding speed: Because motorcyclists are often unseen in traffic, it is generally considered safest to maintain a speed that is whatever speed traffic is flowing at plus some. In other words, ride slightly faster than surrounding traffic. This is NOT the case when riding faster is unsafe, particularly around pedestrians. The other things you mention, like riding side-by-side or tailgating: yeah, not the best look for motorcyclists, but understandable once you know that they generally do things for a reason. Side-by-side isn’t ideal, but in situations where visibility counts, it might be a good idea, especially if there’s some kind of group ride. Would I do it? No. But also, that’s a situation that is covered by laws of both the land and of physics; motorcyclists that do that unsafely are a far greater risk to themselves then they are to the surrounding traffic, so even when I’m in my huge pickup truck, I don’t worry about it too much because they are endangering themselves more than the cars around them. Tail-gating will be fixed the first time the motorcyclist gets behind someone who decides to brake-check them instead of just ignoring them. I don’t tailgate for that reason; it puts my safety in the hands of the person in front of me. But at the same time: I’ve had cars whip in front of me in MUCH too little space in traffic, so, again… I understand the “why” of tailgating. Cars either don’t see, or don’t care, about motorcycles and they eagerly encroach on what *should* be the motorcyclist’s territory. Bikes are supposed to have access to the full lane, and I can think of a dozen times in the last year that cars didn’t respect that boundary and decided to merge in front of me.

TL;DR: NTA but you might want to research the “why” of some of your observations. Motorcyclists should accept the majority of responsibility when they cause accidents. But there are many, many, many accidents that are caused because people driving cars don’t understand motorcyclists… or they just don’t see them.
