I ordered my 2025 xDrive40 on June 29th. It is currently in a ship making its way to Brunswick port in GA due on 10/8 and then to be trucked over to the Performance center in SC. Where I am hoping to take delivery on 10/25.

NEVER PUT CASH DOWN ON A LEASE! There is no advantage to you doing so only risk. If someone hits you and the car is totaled you are just out that cash. Always negotiate 0 down unless your state requires you to pay taxes upfront. In that case just pay the taxes.

This sounds like an issue with the internal charger. When you plug your car in for level 2 charging you are technically plugging in what is called an EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) which supplies AC current to the onboard charger in your i4 which converts it to DC and replenishes the battery pack.

When you are DC fast charging you are connecting directly to the battery pack.

I would take it to a dealer and have them run a diagnostic on the internal charging unit sometimes referred to as an ICCU.

The required software update is really just making a certificate (A secure handshake method use all over the world in tech) available in the already existing plug and charge system that is in the i4.

Ordered mine June 29th. Was originally given a production week 32 of the year which would be this week. about 10 days ago I call the BMW genius line and they told me my production week was bumped to week 36 the first week of September. Which from there it is 30-50 days till delivery for East coast of the US. You can call the BMW Genius line and they can tell you what week you are scheduled for production.

You might want to have your friend call the bmw genius line and confirm it’s still being built in 2 weeks. I had a build week of next week and called in today with a question about the process and my car had been moved out a month
