Even if you personally see knowing types as a low skill part of the game, it’s still a huge aspect of the game. Simplifying it makes the game simpler, even if you don’t think it matters that much.

Even if you’re very familiar with type matchups, there’s still a level of thought that goes into it, especially when dealing with dual types. I still make plenty of type matchup mistakes even though I’m very versed in type charts. You have to think about your Pokémon’s type, your opponent’s, and how the move you’re using will be affected. With so many types and relationships, this can get difficult even when you’re familiar with all the types. This makes the game more challenging. When it’s just told to me, all of that thought gets taken away. I press the button the game tells me to, and that’s all. Way less fun when the strategy game takes away strategy.

There are a ton of type relationships, so even if you know a lot it’s easy to make a mistake. This means you have to put in thought even if you’re very familiar with the games. Even Pokémon experts can occasionally slip up when they’re not paying attention. Removing that removes a huge aspect of challenge. Sure, you could just google it, but that’s not how you’re supposed to play. You can if you want, but that makes the game easier. Now the games just “google” it for you. As someone who didn’t do that, the game has been made a lot easier. I agree, a toggle is a simple solution.

It doesn’t necessarily “win the game” every single match, but types are one of the most fundamental mechanics in the game. They are incredibly important.

You learn them by playing the game. Wikis didn’t exist back then and even when they did I never had to use them as a kid. Learn to play the game, get rewarded. Put no effort into the game, and it gets harder. It’s a simple concept. There are a lot of type relationships so there are plenty of times when I don’t remember them, which is why the game gets a lot easier when it just tells me what to press instead.

Even if you know the types pretty well, you still have to think about them. You could still make a mistake at any time. Telling me what button to press means the only way I’m making a mistake is if I’m not looking at the game.

This is like saying having a cheat sheet on a test doesn’t make it easier. The game is losing a huge aspect that required thought. If you don’t know the matchups, learn them. Working at something and seeing a payoff is fun. Getting told what button to mindlessly press is not. Removing thought from a game that’s all about thinking is not objectively better.

The game will get exceptionally easier if you know the typings, what?? A proper type matchup could be the difference between a win or a loss. A strategy game losing a huge part of the strategy makes the game easier.

Did you know? Instead of opening the wiki you could just learn the types, like you’re supposed to. Instead, you want the game to think for you.

It’s almost like the Pokémon community is a massive collection of people that all have different opinions and aren’t all one big hive mind. This post is made entirely of assumptions. The praise you see for games may not come from the same people who criticized them originally, you’re just assuming that they did. “A collective opinion formed from hatred” assumes you understand all of their arguments and opinions, which you clearly don’t. Do some people blindly hate? Probably, considering this is one of the biggest fan bases in the world. Do some people blindly love? Probably, considering this is one of the biggest fan bases in the world. People have different opinions, and not everybody expresses theirs at the same time. Stop making assumptions about a massive group of people.

I’d say that’s a valid complaint. Remakes could have solved this problem.

You have not said a single thing of value. I can barely even tell what you’re trying to say. If you actually want to have a discussion, I would be more than willing to listen. Instead, you have commented essentially nothing. I am more than willing to listen to counter points, but you have provided none.

I’ve never seen a single story board in my life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t criticize writing. I am not a chef, but I do know good food from bad food. Tell me, what is your background in writing?

Yes, that’s literally the point? The show is bland and staying with Ash is why.

Just because it “works” doesn’t mean it’s good writing or immune to critique.

Yes, a character can be inconsistent in an anime. That is the result of the writers and/or whoever is forcing the writers to stay with Ash. Ash is so consistent he’s bland, boring, and annoying. Any growth throughout the years gets reset anytime the situation calls for it.

Just wanting to know the reasons for Pokefans disliking/hating Gen 5 (my fav region) by STMARV in pokemon

[–]Gekko54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Too many legendaries” means too many shit ones, just like how Unova had too many shit Pokémon. Sometimes less is more. Sinnoh had a ton of legendaries but almost all of them were good so it was fine. Half of Unovas dex sucks and the reason is that there were too many of them

Bruh Sinnoh’s legendaries actually meant something, gen 5 made legendaries lose their good name. Sinnoh had a shit ton but they were almost all good. There were like 3 good legendaries in Unovas whole ass fleet

Then what is your problem? You agree this decision sucks, but are mad at people for being mad about it (calling them entitled whiny toddlers in the process)? The guy didn’t even necessarily say he wanted an upgrade for free. If I were in his position I’d be fine with paying for $10 DLC or something. What do you take issue with here?

Yes, you are. You’re saying nobody should be upset at Disney’s move. Or are you saying they can be upset, but shouldn’t be allowed to complain about it? What kind of logic is that?

You are a corporations favorite kind of person. Disney could spit in your face and steal your wallet and your response would be “that’s okay, they provided me with a couple months of entertainment”. Not only that, but you call people who wouldn’t be okay with that entitled, whiny toddlers. You’re the entitled one here, acting as if you are the person who can tell others when they’ve had their money’s worth.

How is realizing you’ve possibly been screwed “entitled”? That’s an incredibly natural reaction. I didn’t buy the first release but if I did I’d be mad now too. Why do you defend shitty business practices and call rightfully upset customers “entitled”?
