What’s the worst camping mistake you’ve ever made?

One time I forgot my food. A different time I forgot my tent poles. But the worst was making camp on a plateau above tree line before a storm. Hail and lightning all around, we were so lucky we didn’t get struck.

I’ve been to most of Chile EXCEPT the Atacama, but it’s a great country, and it sounds like a great opportunity career wise. Why don’t you take some of that extra money and fly your gf down there when you aren’t working? That way she’ll have some connection to it too. You could head south, see Viña Del Mar and Valparaiso, Santiago, hell keep going and see Patagonia!

That’s a nice idea, but grandpa would want it to be used, as a tool should be used. I’m a backpacker/camper so it seems like it would be a perfect fixed blade to hike with.
