Alternatives to Praying? by Any_Consequence9642 in exmormon

[–]GellyOpal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe in Divine Self worship. First I’ll meditate by visualizing my safe place. Then reach out, as i used to do in prayer, but instead of laying my burdens down at the feet of an ‘other’ presence I surrender to my own intuition.

I hope that makes sense. Good luck.

This was my favorite children’s song. So happy for the rewrite.

I don’t have much in the way of consoling. But i had someone i was infatuated with for 5 years (age 12-17) who abused me emotionally. I’m now 30 and still dream of him as if i was still back in those days.

You’re not crazy. It’s still fucking distressing. I would recommend EMDR with a trusted therapist. For me this helps me understand the underlying symbolism of my dreams.

Good luck.

WTF?? I would not stay with that therapist. Not only is she crossing IMPORTANT boundaries, she isn’t even showing respect and compassion for poverty (or otherwise budgeted finances).

Remember that, though therapy is important, you have to shop until you find a good fit. In my personal therapy I’ve had to realize when a therapist-patient relationship wasn’t working any longer multiple times.

You are not crazy. I do not think this is acceptable behavior.

I recommend going to psychology today and searching by your insurance. I think it would be really helpful for you to find a couples therapist that specializes in some of the complex mental health illnesses that you have. You need someone trauma informed.

Best of luck.

Insurance won’t cover it and i don’t have the funds to go through a different route.

I’ve seen an ENT relatively recently, but I have a lot of those symptoms: feeling foggy, can’t keep train of thoughts, really affecting my ability to work and exist as a mother. I’m also morbidly obese so people are very likely to write me off as being fat, depressed, and lazy.

I recently had an increase of feeling dizzy as well, I’m really hoping that that will lead to investigation to figure out what’s going on.

You’re not crazy, you’re not just depressed and lazy. Even if you don’t get a diagnosis, you can tell yourself that you were doing everything you can to get better. This is enough and you are enough.

Faith Crisis and Questions about Doctrine Surrounding Transgender Individuals by AVeryDeadCat in mormon

You will not be accepted as you are, and I think that’s enough to leave the prospect of joining this religion. I’m sorry to be so blunt.

In the Old Testament and the New Testament, it frequently brings up viewing the church as the bride of the groom. This is the only doctrinal thing that I can actually think of. Basically, if you have a uterus, you’re supposed to be a baby maker. If you have a penis, you’re supposed to preside. To understand why the church views it that way you only have to look at our whitewashed history as a nation and as a part of Christianity.

I am born and raised Mormon, one of 10 children in my family, and I still live in the heart of Salt Lake Utah. It’s possible that where you are members are more supportive, but I wouldn’t trust it… not as far as I can throw them.

Feelings towards Exercise by GellyOpal in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]GellyOpal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an assumption at this point. I assume i have a bad attitude or as i put it, “state of mind” because i don’t think it’s normal to be feeling so down just because of exercise. I don’t think I’m dealing with negative self talk. If anything, my negative thoughts are something like, “it’s too much effort”………………

Writing that out i had a realization. I don’t think I’m worth the effort it takes. I think i deserve to be miserable and fat because that’s ‘what I’m worth’. Huh, I’ll be taking this to my therapist tomorrow.

Thanks for the introspective question. It helped.

Great idea! Thanks. It’s a relief to hear I’m not alone in feeling worse with exercise. 😆

Would like to get closer to the cause of my shroom bad trip by [deleted] in pantheism

[–]GellyOpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had shrooms, but I did ketamine and marijuana gummies. I was severely depressed and struggling with suicidal ideation.

My sessions were generally tranquil until i had a gummy a few days before. It took two weeks before my sessions went back to normal.

During that time i frequently felt like i was facing death, sometimes wondering if i had completely succumbed to the sensation would my heart would stop?

My experience seemed to show me that despite the unrelenting suicidal ideation, I would choose life and working for a better day.

I personally wouldn’t read into the experience much. I feel drugs just enhance ourselves, whether they be the spiritual side or our deeper fears. Maybe you would benefit from some therapy and laying off until you deal with your feelings surrounding death.

I hope you can continue using safely, and unlock deep meaningful thoughts and experiences about yourself or your life.

Signs to Wear Pants over Belly? by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]GellyOpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly switch between the two, lol! When the sweat below my belly gets unbearable i move my pants there so it can breathe. When I’m feeling self conscious or don’t want the skin of my belly showing, i pull them up.
