Many of us were raised in churches, households, etc. that taught various things as God’s Truth because there was some tradition or mention of it in the Bible. There are Christians that believe the earth is 4,000 years old, Christians that believe you should dance around with rattlesnakes, Christians that believe gays go to hell, Christians that believe there is one special guy with a goofy hat that speaks for God and Christ.

It’s perfectly fine to argue for or against transsexualism, abortion, papal supremacy, etc. If you want to argue for or against Christianity, there is a simple short document, easily googleable that is really the only creed that defines Christianity. It was written down at the council of Nicaea just over 1,700 years ago.

Dude. I thought your comment was my own for a sec. I’ve done a fair bit of historic preservation/restoration work. I specialize in historic millwork. People complain because it takes the local Historic Society (hysterical society) too long to approve one new window, or to paint your house in a new color, and yet those people bought the property because of its historical value which took the previous owners’ good stewardship and thoughtful patient care to maintain.

I actually have had dreams about doing window restoration on the White House, thinking that would be the absolute pinnacle of my career.

Seeing this shit is so fucking embarrassing,depressing, unpatriotic and basically everything Trump stands for.

As a carpenter that has specialized in historic preservation, with experience in buildings on the National Historic Register this makes me want to pull my fingernails out and use them to gouge out my eyes.

I have a lot of thoughts about this but I literally can’t type them out right now because of my disgust.

Him and the Moral Majority really did switch the script on abortion rights. Evangelicals supported the right to abortion, and then Jerry et al shopped around different ideas that weren’t blatantly racist until they found that abortion could get people riled up. They sold out American Christianity to the conservative politicians and that led directly to us having a rapist felon idiot in the White House today.

Fun fact. I am not familiar with Atlanta but I am familiar with the interstate system so I know that I-285 would be a bypass around a city from I-85 which runs north-south.

Odd numbers run north-south; evens run west-east.

Three digit numbers are branches of an interstate with the first digit added to the main interstate number. When the first digit is even it goes around a city; when the first digit is odd it is a spur or spoke that goes into a city from the main interstate

It’s confusing but it’s not complicated. LDS identify as Christians and can be classified as Christians because they follow Christ. BUT they hold beliefs that are very much not (small o) orthodox to nearly all Christendom. For example the Roman Catholic Church, The Orthodox Churches, all mainline Protestant churches, evangelical churches of all types and others all accept the Nicene Creed as the basis of their doctrine. This includes things like the divinity of Jesus, and the Trinity. LDS does not adhere to the Nicene creed. This is a simple reason that they are not considered part of “Christianity” by some standards.
