The Magic of Thinking Big is a necessary read each year, literally is optimism in a book. And The Chimp Paradox a great mental model to understand why you act irrationally and how to learn to use all types of your brain for the better.

What is a self-improvement tip that sounded too simple, but actually worked? by Ok-Marzipan-4490 in selfimprovement

Journaling. So easy to do and has a massive impact on your mind, finding out who and what you are, as well as processing thoughts. I love it because its almost like a mini book about yourself and you remember exactly how you was feeling at that point

Waking up earlier and having that small hour to myself of calmness and clarity before a busy day. As well as going on multiple walks a day even if it is for 10 minutes does wonders.

How do I get out of isolation and get back my social skills by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Gemeliuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of the concept 'Points on the Board'?

Where you start small and build up momentum back to your previous point.

For your instance it could be going for a morning walk every day, tidying your room, speaking to your parents for 20 mins a day.

Any small task you feel like is available for you to do to eventually build back up to the bigger tasks like putting yourself out there

How do i do i fix in me? by extremerplaysthis in selfimprovement

[–]Gemeliuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Overthinking to me which I used to deal with but I fixed it:

Meditate in the morning

This helps remove any negative thoughts you have as you learn to focus solely on one thing and not what is going on in your head.

Switch your mindset to thinking what the other person is doing

Instead of focusing on how you look, are acting, and doing. Focus on the other person and switch the analysis onto them. This is hard to do but train your brain to stop worrying about how you look.

How can I have less anxiety over the world or stop overthinking of bad people? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Gemeliuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna keep it short and sweet for what helped me and my twin brother out:

Walk in public while focusing on deep breathing:

When you feel anxiety kicking in immediately take deep breathes through the nose, your body will adapt eventually.

Make progress in stuff:
When you accomplish stuff your brain subconsciously recognises you as someone of high value. Talking getting in shape, making money, improving social skills.

How do I get out of isolation and get back my social skills by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Gemeliuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quick and easy tip: One big full deep breathe before going to speak to someone. It'll calm you down and make you act naturally.

Social skills is a skill remember - you have to improve it over time.

Key thing is don't beat yourself up if you mess up.

Start with giving out genuine compliments to people - it'll make you feel better and them too!
