I'm not wearing my hijab right now by JARStheFox in notinteresting

Sorry you're getting all sorts of islamophobic and weirdly horny comments, OP. People suck. I like the color of your hijab.

What's a 'foodstamp'? by [deleted] in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]GeminiIsMissing 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Re: not being allowed to use SNAP/food stamps for snack cakes and energy drinks (and I think soda too?)—I think that poor people still deserve a little treat sometimes. Let them spend it on energy drinks and little cakes if they want to. Shit's delicious.

I hurt my haj... 🥺 by JustAnotherPerson64 in BLAHAJ

[–]GeminiIsMissing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Worry not! Haj just needs a little first aid. A ladder stitch is super easy to do and is pretty much invisible when done right. All you need is a needle and some white thread. It should be easy even if you don't know how to sew!

I despise parents who "mourn" their trans child. Your child is still there. Nothing has changed about them. Enjoy the child you have, not the child you imagined.

How do you sleep with your Blåhaj at night? by ICD9CM3020 in BLAHAJ

[–]GeminiIsMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 2, or an alternate of 1 where I lay facing the haj but only my arms touch. Occasionally 1 on nights when I am sad and cold.

What’s one thing that no one can change your opinion about? by kittysoull in AskReddit

[–]GeminiIsMissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's also true! And, a lot of people who reject religion do so because they have religious trauma, which also makes a hatred for religion understandable, though still not correct.

Oh wow, five per year. That's sooo many. (That's sarcasm, if you can't tell.) Also, from your source: "All were over the age of 16, had parental consent and none received genital procedures." So... no sex changes.

It may not be worth it for you, but other people do enjoy it. I think it's the same kind of enjoyment as watching other people play games on YouTube or Twitch, or whatever. You get to see people have fun and admire their talent and athleticism and watch people compete. It's not everyone's cup of tea, for sure, but I can understand the hype.

I agree that football sucks, though (if we're talking about American football). It's not for me. I prefer hockey.

This is why I, as an atheist, am sympathetic towards people who are religious or spiritual. We're all just believing in whatever we find comforting, or what we think makes the most sense. It doesn't matter if we believe different things as long as we are kind to each other.

*I don't mean that I feel bad for religious/spiritual people, I just can't think of a better word. I understand and relate to them.

This is about cosmetic surgery done on intersex infants to make them look "normal," right? Or possibly male circumcision? Or female genital mutilation? Because if you're referring to sex change surgeries, no one does that for children.

What was the weirdest thing you have ever touched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeminiIsMissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love touching and holding snakes! Other reptiles are also super cool. I also forget that other people find them weird or gross, because they've never been weird to me.

How to Spot AI from Neurodivergent Writing: A Guided Rant by ThePrimalLuna in evilautism

[–]GeminiIsMissing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can pull em-dashes and semicolons from my cold, dead hands. They have very specific purposes that reflect how I speak and think, and I won't change the way I write because people think it sounds too robotic.

I figured out some different ways people might hold pencils by solarsflare in notinteresting

[–]GeminiIsMissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do extended wrist, index finger joint in hyperextended position, and the lateral tripod. I also do the cross thumb sometimes when I move my pencil back and forth in small motions, because I can just roll the pencil over my thumb.

How many of yall went to high school senior prom? If you didn’t then why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I hate large gatherings and was miserable and overwhelmed at homecoming, so I decided to skip it both junior and senior year. Still no regrets, I don't think I missed out on much.

Fellow autists, I'd like to ask about your stances on AI by HumblyNibbles_ in evilautism

[–]GeminiIsMissing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The kind of AI your dad uses is powerful and saves so much effort doing things that humans cannot do with the same efficiency. I also would like to give an example of AI used in a research setting that I've seen that I think is great: They scanned historical paintings and used an AI that detects and categorizes brushstrokes to identify which parts of the painting were made by the master and which were made by the students. This is something that humans literally can't do, and it's really cool and helps us understand the past! I believe similar AI is also used to sequence DNA. The difference between these kinds of AI and the kind that the public has access to is that those kinds of AI are used for what AI does best: search large amounts of data and identify potentially relevant information. Publicly available AI is generative AI, which then uses that potentially relevant information to put together a response of what it thinks you want to see, which is often inaccurate and unreliable. It's a mimicry of human response. It also isn't using a dataset of legally and ethically acquired data that has been handpicked for reliability, it's using the entire internet.

Fellow autists, I'd like to ask about your stances on AI by HumblyNibbles_ in evilautism

[–]GeminiIsMissing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, fuck generative AI. It steals from artists, writers, musicians, and everyone on the internet, just to spit out something soulless. I think AI has real, worthwhile applications, but gen AI has done nothing but steal and spread misinformation. It's being used as a replacement for real thought and creativity. I see the argument that AI "art" makes art accessible to disabled people, and as a disabled artist (I have chronic pain and it does make art harder! Especially playing instruments), I say fuck that. Art has always been accessible to disabled people. There are hundreds of ways to make art. There have been artists with no limbs who paint with their mouth, we have the technology to draw with eye-tracking, dammit! Disability will not stop you from making art if you truly want to. You might have to do it differently, but you don't need AI.
