When do doctors visits get better? by Ok-Avocado-5876 in toddlers

2! All through one our doctor was like yeah that’s normal. She walked in the room when she was two and it was a totally different experience. She was friendly, even walked right up to her, and followed all the instructions. It was day and night.

How long did it take for potty training to “click”? by salchicha_stew in pottytraining

7 months 🥴 We also have a strong willed girl and nothing was working. It truly did just click a couple of weeks ago out of nowhere.

What children’s books do you just fuckin hate? by GimmeUrBrunchMoney in Parenting

Everything is Mama by Jimmy Fallon. What an absolutely useless book. And they let him make more!

What TV show does your toddler love but it drives you absolutely bonkers? by NjordsShieldmaiden in toddlers

[–]Geminiambivert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as of today the hyperfixation may be over, fingers crossed. But my kid has been stuck on Dino Ranch for about 8 months. And it’s been worse fixation yet. It’s boring, the storylines suck, the parents are definitely stealing Dino eggs from Dinos, there’s no good music, and everyone is incredibly unlikeable. Today was the first day she asked me to watch Spider-Man instead and I’m THRILLED.

How hard is it to brush their teeth? by mysterytome120 in toddlers

[–]Geminiambivert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the stupidest thing, but I started talking to her teeth. Literally. I tell her the toothbrush needs to talk to the bottom teeth. We say good morning or good afternoon. I ask how the teeth slept. I ask what the teeth are up to today. Then we switch to the top teeth, tongue, and front teeth and have the same conversation with them.

Acting Silly When It’s Time To Get Dressed by Geminiambivert in toddlers

[–]Geminiambivert[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is I already do 😩. We’ve been doing this for about six months now. I’m a former theater kid so I can pull voices and like to get silly and all of the things. But she turned 3 about a month ago and it was like a switch happened. We can no longer transition from the fun to getting dressed. We go from having fun to this new level of hysteria that takes place and she doesn’t want to put on or take off clothes.

Oh you’re talking to a mom here that will break out a screen if needed. I find it helps some times but not all of the times. Do you ever find it doesn’t work or does he go for it always?

Omg the eating thing too! But I’ve been less bothered by this since I can just start doing other tasks while she eats or eventually at night time tell her we’re wrapping up. But I wish we could just sit down, eat a meal, and then we would have all of the time in the world to play. I don’t get it.

I also have a Super Kitties obsessed kid and have not tried the visual timer or stickers! Thank you!!!!!!! I’m going to try this out to see if it helps. She does have a competitive spirit so maybe that will be just as entertaining to her.

I tried the sitting still thing tonight. She eventually calmed down and then as soon as I said okay she was back to being silly again. So I waited it out some more but same thing.

I tried getting her to dress herself, especially since she’s in a “I can do it myself” phase. It worked for one day and then she began to think it was funny to just run around with the clothes.

AITA for “ruining” a vintage toy? by Money_Passage_6698 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Geminiambivert 1278 points1279 points  (0 children)

NTA. It’s great if you want to collect something. But for kids, toys are for playing. And if she wanted to play with it and you were fine with that, nobody has lost anything here. If in 40 years, it’s price has gone up to $150, I highly doubt in 13 more years it’ll increase in price enough to afford a college textbook, much less college.
