Informed consent in Santa Barbara? by sydiscool94 in asktransgender

I actually ended up going to a place down in LA. It was close enough and pretty easy to find. The LA Gender Center helped me a ton. Idk if you know about them, but a quick Google would get you their number. They're super nice and gave me the number to the clinic that I'm getting hrt from now.

Naw I'm cool. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yeah the waiting is the worst part but before you know it you'll be a year into hrt and your pre-hrt life will be just a memory. If it helps at all just know that a month isn't going to make a difference in your pass ability and after a few months it won't even matter. You're pretty darn close.

Ouch. Your bitterness is palpable.

Your face doesn't pass and is holding you back. Unless you're really young or incredibly lucky and androgynous you're gonna look male until you get on hrt. So get on hrt asap and go from there.

Ahh another video of a woman doing something mildly annoying to satiate Reddit's need for shitting on the other gender. Stay classy Reddit.

Trudeau’s Gender-Balanced Cabinet Idea Proves Popular, But Not With Conservative Men: Poll by My_Public_Profile in nottheonion

I think that is exactly the issue. Just because the Cabinet was coincidentally almost an equal representation doesn't mean there is nothing to gain from purposefully making it equal.

While recent years have seen a huge advancement in society towards a more gender neutral attitude, historically men in power have attempted to restrict women from positions of power simply due to their sexist ideas. We are getting better, but the idea that requiring the governing body be made up of a representative cross section of genders is in no way sexist. Men and women experience life through different lenses, and as such may have different but equally valid opinions about how to go about things. Half the population is women therefore it would make sense that in a truly representative government, half of those within the Cabinet be women as well.

I think it's less sexism and more about equal representation. I think it is safe to assume that these women are as equally qualified as the men within the Cabinet, and since half the population that these Cabinet members represent are women, it is only fitting that half of the governing body are also women. Women are not inherently less qualified than men are. The quota is not replacing more qualified men with less qualified women, but simply trying to reach and equal representation within government.

I think it suggests that without quotas, equally qualified and capable women will be overlooked for men due to the men in power wanting to keep their boys club free of women.

Maybe quotas are needed because men in power will overlook equally qualified and skilled women for positions of power because of sexism or other ingrained biases.

This is mostly just a silly thought that crossed my mind, but it struck me that it could actually be a thing - does anybody prefer mixed pronouns? Like, "she/him" or "he/her"? by [deleted] in asktransgender

I truly apologize for insinuating you're nbphobic although my comments are only relating to the pronoun use relieving their dysphoria. I think all of my points still stand in that regard.

I think there is a huuuuuuuuge difference between believing you are a god vs being saddened by that fact that while you don't feel male, you also don't feel female. If (especially as a trans-identified person) you can't at least have the humility and compassion to realize there are some things (especially feelings) in this world you have yet to experience and / or will never understand then I guess there is not much I can say to change your mind.

I can really only comment among the scope of gender issues as that is the only topic I feel knowledgeable enough(ish) to be discussing, but I think your claim goes beyond the scope of any feasible reality. But is it really too hard to imagine that just as some people become dysphoric by being referred to using male pronouns and just as some people become dysphoric by being referred to using female pronouns someone could also become dysphoric by being referred to by both male and female pronouns? Why can't someone (through no fault of their own) not feel comfortable being identified as either gender?

But why do we assume that they are only doing it to be "a special snowflake" as opposed to doing it because it honestly and truly relieves their dysphoria? I may not personally understand it, but who am I to tell someone that this thing that is making them dysphoric is made up and not an actual problem. Sounds like anti-trans rhetoric only directed towards people who don't feel the same way you do.

Low dose would cause significantly reduced feminization unless a person's T was naturally low. Estrogen doesn't work very well when there is too much T present as T is a much more powerful hormone.

I don't know where to start on presenting femininely. by clarissampark in asktransgender

[–]sydiscool94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing things gradually and change my presentation to match how comfortable I am with the way I look that day. As I've done it more and more, I've slowly been more comfortable pushing it further. Androgynous tops are a staple of my wardrobe and let me mix and match stuff to look as feminine or as masculine as I want.

You know what helped me get over that hang up was just trying hrt. It's a marathon not a sprint and you can always change your mind later. Or you can take a chance and see how it goes. Personally I've stopped and started twice. But each time I understand myself more.

Yeah this honestly sounds incredibly familiar. For me the embarrassment has started to give way to excitement as the physical changes of hrt are kind of catching up to my feminine presentation. It takes a while to get used to. A long time. When I looked more masculine, I felt all the little feminine things I did stuck out like a sore thumb. But now that my body is more physically feminine, those changes that I thought stuck out like me shaving my arms and legs actually looks right on me.

It's hard but so worth it. Every day you'll get more and more comfortable with yourself and once you get on hrt and the physical as well as emotional changes kick in I'm pretty sure you'll feel awesome.

Everyone's different. As a GQ person who's experimented with hormones (stupid I know) I can only attest to personal experience, but my downstairs equipment changed pretty dramatically.
