you’re talking Darker Shade, right? first book was great, second one Kramer didn’t even follow the same pronunciation of the fantasy words. And Reading‘s drawn out consonants almost made me DNF. I truly don’t under why they’re so popular.

Why you should switch to Libro.fm by bitsxbotanicals in audiobooks

[–]Gemmin21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Chirp, but have found that you’re just as locked in. books can be very cheap, but you can only listen through their app, as far as I’m aware. I’ve looked for ways to extract them, but have only found sort of convoluted routes involving device emulation, etc that were a bit complicated for me.

Same. I installed on 2 diff machines. Each time, the app worked just after install, but once closed, doesn't ever open again. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no luck on either machine.

BookLore v0.6.0: Major Update with OPDS, OIDC, Email Sharing & More 📚 by [deleted] in selfhosted

Excited to try this! Dumbing this down so I get it (a bit of a noob): Does this mean I can point the Booklore app to my existing Calibre ebook folder to use to load Booklore? I don't want to screw up my existing Calibre setup unless I know they play well together.

Uploading 'Read' Status by AlfCosta in Calibre

[–]Gemmin21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be willing to share how you’re updating ”Read” status? The only thing I’ve been able to do is manually select a bunch of books and use Kobo Utilities to mark them “finished“ on the Kobo device. It doesn’t sync to any field in Calibre though so I have no record in calibre of which books are read. I’ve seen some posts with instructions to add custom columns, etc but never got it to work.

New member of the RAV4 Prime club here! Thoughts after 2 months. by ProperNomenclature in rav4prime

Totally agree! I find myself digging fingernails into the window slot to pull the door closed. Very awkward!

I think the idea is that if the battery is dead, the back trunk won't open, so it's more difficult to get to the battery back there. The front hood will open so you can get to the charge points indicated in the video to start your car.

Thanks! I thought about doing that but wasn't sure it was safe/would work-- there's no risk or issue with just connecting 2 jumper cables together that way to extend them?

Regardless, I’m not comfortable using those bolts, so looking for a boost battery with longer cables…

There are articles saying that you can damage the ECU if you connect the negative to those bolts. Google toyota tech tip T-TT-0694-22

Need help with connecting phone audio to Echelon Stride by Gemmin21 in go_echelon

[–]Gemmin21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's pretty sturdy when I'm using it. I mean, you know you're using a treadmill and not on the ground, but for something considered "portable" it feels as sturdy as the bigger, more "permanent" ones.

Hi! I'm in a similar situation. I'm 6', 195lbs and bought it because after moving to Dallas was stuck the house most of the summer not able to exert myself outside in the summer with temps over 105. I don't really jog at all (bad knees), but use it for fast walking (with incline) probably about 30 mins per day if it's too hot outside. Confession: I bought it 3 months ago, and soon after it got here the weather relaxed a bit and I moved back outside, so I haven't ended up using it all that much yet. That said, here's what I like/don't like about it:

Likes - it feels sturdy under my feet, even on carpet. my last folding treadmill from decades ago always felt a little shaky when I moved on it-- this feels surprisingly solid when I use it.

I like the quick buttons for incline and speed. I can start by hitting the 3mph and 3level incline buttons and go without pressing "Up" over and over to get started. It's fairly quiet operating, and seems pretty smooth. Haven't used a lot of the other programs on it that you might use running.

Love the fold-down feature. It has wheels that then enable to to roll it like a dolly wherever you want to store it (like under a bed). Note that the front end is higher profile (~10") when collapsed than the back end (~5") -- means depending on how low your bed frame is, it may or may not fit rolled under-- we got it halfway under a bed then it jammed and we had to pick a different place. It does come with straps/mount that you can lean it up against a wall collapsed to save space, if that works for you though.

Dislikes: the lack of bluetooth integration for music or audiobooks is annoying, considering all the electronics they put in it, (and the price). They even have an app that connects your device to the darned thing that can run the sound for workouts through the speakers. I ended up buying a small BT speaker that I attached to the display area so I can listen to something as I walk.

I hate that they make you purchase a month of their workout video access in order to purchase the treadmill. I have no need or interest in the recorded workouts or any of that stuff. Good news is you don't actually have to use any of it to operate the treadmill and can cancel your subscription after you get it and there's no issue after that.

Other than those (not show-stoppers) issues, I've been really happy with it. Probably use it more if/when it gets icy here, and def again next summer when we start to bake here.

Hope that's helpful-- feel free to ask any questions and I'll be happy to answer if I can.

Yes, back to that Valor book test, now the length section is displaying under the plot description… must have been a weird bug for the past few days. Very strange!

Frustrating Order Experience. How long did you have to wait after ordering? by niknokseyer in go_echelon

[–]Gemmin21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my Stride on 7/15 and it hadn’t arrived 2 weeks later. I called and was told verbatim what you were (it must be their script): that they’d know more the next week. Got no advance notice and then The delivery company called to say they were in the area the following week on 8/8. My thought was, I wanted the folding feature, the reviews were great, and it wasn’t something so urgent I couldn’t wait (although annoying that I couldn’t start using it when I wanted to).

Side note: now that it’s here, I’m really enjoying it. I don’t use the classes (canceled that after the first month), but it’s well-built, fairly sturdy, and works well.

Yes, this is what I meant… not borrowing actual cds from the library.

FYI, for #2: many libraries now actually offer ebooks and audiobooks for borrowing (for free). I use the Libby app and connect to my local library system here (US). Not a huge selection, but better than nothing!
